Iran Fined $2.65 Billion for Terrorism

WASHINGTON (AP) — Iran must pay $2.65 billion to the family members of the 241 U.S. servicemen killed in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, a federal judge ruled Friday, calling it the largest-ever such judgment against another country.
Iran has been blamed for supporting the militant group Hezbollah, which carried out the suicide bombing in Beirut. It was the worst terrorist act against U.S. targets until the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Hundreds of people crowded a federal courtroom to hear Friday's ruling. Parents have grown old since their children were killed. Siblings have grown into middle-age. Children have married and started families of their own.
"These individuals, whose hearts and souls were forever broken, waited patiently for nearly a quarter century for justice to be done," U.S District Judge Royce C. Lamberth said as families embraced.
The crowd, many of them weeping, stood and erupted into applause as Lamberth left the bench.
The ruling allows nearly 1,000 family members and estates to try to collect Iranian assets from various sources around the world.
"This is a sense of victory, of winning a battle," said Paul Rivers, who was a 20-year-old enlisted Marine on the second floor of the barracks when it exploded. "When we win the war is when we collect, when we make them pay for what they did."
Iran has denied responsibility for the attack. The nation did not respond to the 6-year-old lawsuit and was represented only by an empty table.

Who benefits? Who benefits from a World War between "Christians" and "Muslims"? You know, like good ol' Albert "I Can Summon Lucifer Anytime" Pike planned out when his rascist ilk did the coup d'etat and purge of the freemason lodges in this country.

Frederick, I do all the time! I think about the American citizens living in Puerto Rico and Guam and Virgin Islands , etc and just really wonder what they think.
How about our Native Americans in their Navajo , Cherokee nations , etc. What do they think of AIPAC?

...I don't know what they think about AIPAC, but today is the opening day of the Clay County Fair here, and I spent some time hanging around a booth some Native American musicians have there, listening to their music. They had some "Homeland Security" T-shirts hanging on the back wall of that booth that had pictures of Geronimo, Sitting Bull, and others, with wording such as "We've Been Fighting Terrorism Since 1492" and "The Original Founding Fathers".
They had those T-shirts there last year, too, and maybe even the year before that.

The timing of this report is transparent. Note that the suit was
6 years old. I don't know much about this but if they waited 25
years why is the suit only 6 years old and who put on a defense?

Looks like a middle east organization in our country has a greater control of our government and it's policies then the rest of the American citizens. Seeing the way this administratin is pushing their war and policies in the middle east , you wonder just who is getting s... on.
The constitutions declares that the American citizens are the real deciders of this nation's actions and policies , why are we letting this administration including the democrats now destroy our democracy , laws , freedom , jobs , MILITARY , economy and hand our nation's wealth , power and control to Corporations without a whimper.
If Americans think they are still running this country then they must be blind. If we think this term will run out for Cheney & Bush in 2008, we are fooling ourselves....
Looks very clear by all the steps and actions that this administratin have set in place , they are setting up a control that will not end in 2008..
