Here are some tidbits:
1. The CIA TOLD Bush that Saddam was trying to get yellow cake from Africa. Since Bush was not on the ground in Africa doing the actual research he trusted the CIA like a good little Pres.
He was fed misinformation from a trusted government source therefore he is unpeachable. He did not lie because he was fed misinformation unlike Bill Clinton who KNOWINGLY lied. Also Bill was impeached but not removed from office because they didn't have enough votes, same would be done here. Pelosi is just letting the Democrats (non washington based) face the facts, finally. I understand a lot of people are mad. I would be too if a political party I was part of staged a campaign based on the fact that they would have the troops home and possibly impeach Bush when they knew that that was a close to 0% possibility of happening.
2. If someone comes forth with evidence that this war was for oil then I would support impeaching him. Until someone does it it is only speculation.
3. Also if this is "an illegal war" then EVERYONE who voted for it in congress should be impeached/charges filed/fired and we should start over fresh. Not just the Pres but the people who voted for it because "they also had misinformation from the CIA", so they must have been lying to America as well.
5. Also, I would have supported us going in and removing Saddam wether he had nukes or not. Those people were suffering. It was even chronicled in Maxum Magazine. Go read the story how Saddams sons would take teenage girls from the side of the road, rape, torture them, and dump their dead bodies alongside a dirt road. It was a daily thing, hell they even had Cops help them. Where were the cry's from Celebs to go help in Iraq like they are doing for Darfur?
We have a great power and we need to help people. Not just in Iraq or Darfur, but with Aids in Africa and countless other diseases plaguing the un-industrialized nations. We should not just sit back and ignore the plite of others to save our own skin when our Fathers sacrificed themselves for us. You think 4000 troops died for oil? I believe they died so that other Nations can enjoy the Freedom they we do. So that women aren't treated like property and can't have an education. SO that gays aren't killed over sexual preference and women can walk the streets without having to worry when the next RAPING will happen. I am grateful of the sacrifices my brethren made to help others and ultimately keep our country safe.
BTW, I have served in Iraq, and I would gratefully serve again. Not just for my country but to help the nice people of Iraq who actually NEED us there to ensure their safety.

Tell the more than one millon dead innocent Iraqis to calm down. Tell the more than four million Iraqi refugees created by Bush's bullshit war to calm down. But Joe Wilson, a former ambassador to the region who knows it very well WAS on the ground in Africa, and discovered for himself that there WAS NO URANIUM DEAL. In fact, the CIA had been telling Bush for most of 2002 that the uranium claim COULD NOT BE SUBSTANTIATED, and even forced the White House to remove the claim from 2002 speeches that Bush made. Somehow, the claim made it into the 2003 SOU anyway, and the administration subsequently retracted it. The documents purporting to show the deal are PROVEN FORGERIES.
The Bush crime family could not legitimately refute Wilson's information because THEY KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. So they just trashed the hell out of him in their standard "smear the messenger" style, purposely committing treason in the process by revealing the identity of his covert CIA operative wife. Whose mission, by the way, was tracking illicit transfers of weapons of mass destruction.
You are equally clueless on impeachment. Commencement of the process is not dependent on whether or not there are enough votes to impeach and remove from office. The oath of office (you know, where elected officials swear to uphold the Constitution) demands that it MUST HAPPEN when there is such overwhelming evidence as that which exists against the Bush administration. It's not about politics. It's about accountability and the rule of law.

You may simply be unable to grasp the fact that the Bush administration cooked the intel and lied to Congress (which is a felony) and the American people to gain support for their illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, but that is indeed exactly what hapened. If the true goal was to remove Saddam and his sons (the evil of which nobody disputes) it could have been done for a LOT less than the hundreds of billions of dollars, four thousand American troops and more than one million innocent Iraqis that have been lost so far (a genocide that makes Darfur look minimal by comparison), not to mention the creation of the fastest growing refugee crisis on the planet in Iraq.

I Have Calmed Down, LOL
It is a little later in the day and I have had lunch, made weekend plans to enjoy Bethlehem, PA's Celtic Classic and all of this has brought a bit of tranquitity that just was not there when I read that obviuosly misguided soul's post which raised my shackles a bit.
I this likely brief period of calm I thought it may be a good idea to return to the premise of that "uneducated robot" comment and brek it down in a more reasoned manner. AS many of you regulars here at ADS.org are likely aware, I really do not care for "anonomous" posters whose sole purpose is to regurgitate right wing Fox propaganda. One has to wonder how the "anonomous'" have time to venture into our turf as doing so limits their time listening to the edicts of B'OR, Hannity, Coulter and "Limpballs"!
Maybe it is B'OR, Hannity, Coulter and "Limpballs" who are behind these anonomous postings. H'mmm, we may be on to something there.
Anyway, I was on the "Huffpo" for a time earlier in the afternoon checking out comments to the terrific John Cusack interview he conducted with investigative reproter and author, Naomi Klein whose new book THE SHOCK DOCTRINE, . . I am about half way through and these comments inspired me to think of what WE THE PEOPLE can try to do now that is clear that there is no difference between the D's and the R's, they're both wings of the CORPORATIST/FASCIST/ELITE/MONIED sector of the populace.
Then it dawned on me that Richard Pryor was the lead character in a comedy in the 80's called BREWSTER'S MILLIONS. If you remember that picture, Pryor's character stood to inherit countless millions of dollars as long as he could spend a ridiculous amount of money and have nothing left to show for it within a stated period of time.
Brewster and his buddies thought up the idea to run for a political office to spend the money, but that turned out to be unwise because in his campaign he became so popular that it was clear he was going to win and therefore he'd lose the big pay-off, the inheritance since if he'd win he'd be getting a salary while in office.
All was not lost because he came up with the ingenious plan to put his campaign funds into a new candidate, NONE OF THE ABOVE! Brewster spoke truth to power by telling his supporters the truth about what he was really doing and that he had no ability to serve effectively in the office being sought and that his opponent was not in it for the good of the people but for his own gain.
Guess what? NONE OF THE ABOVE won!!! Think about it. WE THE PEOPLE are given little if any choice in the selection of the candidates WE THE PEOPLE get to vote for. Maybe it is not such a bad thing that here in late September, 2007, we find Presidential Debates all over the place. Maybe WE THE PEOPLE can speak that same truth to today's powers that be and tell then WE THE PEOPLE want NONE OF THE ABOVE. Let's petition to have that choice on our ballots at least in the primaries.
Let's get the rules adjusted that only a candidate who can get over 50% of the votes cast can be awarded the nomination and if NONE OF THE ABOVE gets over 50% then it would throw the whole thing into a tizzy the likes of which neither the D's not the R's could ignore.
Gee, I'm getting all riled up again! Sorry about that. At least I didn't get all dirty mouthed like this morning, LOL!

Having just completed THE SHOCK DOCTRINE - THE RISE OF DISASTER CAPITALISM, I was able to get a bitter distaste for Friedman's philosophy as well as that of his "progeny" from the "Chicago School".

"Uncle Miltie" cared not for the working element of any society. He was a century too late in hius life for he would have been a champion for the slave trade (hey human of dubious blood lines are just a commodity to be bought and sold by the privileged elite). This is why Milton Friedman was EVIL in life and continues to be EVIL in death as his philosophies continue to be embraced by those very elites who now refer to today's slaves as "guest workers"!
One thing I have found so strange in my reading over the past 2 years is, when it comes to the attitude toward the working class/middle class, why have the elites attacked the working/middle class when it is these very people who do the work which the elites feel is so far below them. If their creed is "value" then why is work that these elites refuse to perform NOT HAVE ANY VALUE TO THEM?
It seems to me that if you recall Henry Ford's attitude as well as that of a great businessman, Milton Hershey, that to reap the greatest rewards for your efforts in business, it is beneficial to hire good people, pay them a proper wage and create markets for your products among the very people who work for you!
Freidman ignored the real tragedies his philosophies generated. One of his "star pupils", none other that Donald Rumsfeld, actually adopted Friendman's approach when, remarking about the plunder of Iraq's many cultural treasures of antiquity said, "Sometimes Democracy is untidy". This is classic Friedmanspeak.

1. There were no weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq and Bush knew this before sending us in.
2. The Bush Adminstration created a fake terror threat before a Congressional meeting to push the FISA laws through.

Feinstein reportedly conferred with an Admiral or other high ranking military official and comes up with justification to shit on us.

By the way, can anyone of you imagine how much dough (as Bogie would say) the telecom companies and various broadcasting interests must have paid into a fund to pay off Congress so that massive 4th amendment lawsuit could conveniently be dismissed. I wonder how much of that payoff Pelosi-bitch and Feinstein got. No doubt they were approached with rhetoric to the effect that if the lawsuits went through it could create financial disaster for the corporations, etc.. I'm sure they caved for a few million. It's lots cheaper for the corporations to pay a few millions or hundreds of millions out than to suffer hundreds of billions in lawsuits and disgrace.

it's alright everyone, no need to get worked up about all this. the universe tends to unfold as it should and this is what is going to happen to the world.
through corporation's greed, the artic circle's permafrost is melting thereby exposing mammoth shit to be digested by the once dormant bacteria. this is happening now and upon digesting of this mammoth shit that piled up over hundreds of thousands of years the bacteria will release an enormous amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere (an estimated 500 billion tons of carbon) causing a global warming epidemic that will get worse exponentially and on top of that experts believe that the digestion of the shit will put massive amounts of methane into the air rather than CO2 (methane is about 4 times more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas). just for a comparison the U.S. puts out about 7 billion tons of greenhouse gases every year. and global warming experts think we have it bad now, just give it 20 years or so just when totalitarianism and oppression have set in. we will be placed in an oven and the corporations will have no pee-ons to make money off of. if karma has its' way these corporations and corrupt politicians will find themselves in a country of anarchy whereby they will be treated with the respect they deserve. im not saying give up the fight for freedom, justice and the constitution b/c all is not lost yet. what im saying is if neo-conservativism becomes accepted as the norm then the corporations will have all the funding they need to get rich quick at the expense of the environment causing a cataclismic chain reaction which all of us will endure and likely die from. personally, i think mother nature is what man should fear and respect, not money, not material possessions, not power or control. these things just take us farther from where we came from and as we all know we will one day return to the soil and become part of the intriquet web that is the earth.

At first I thought the "impeachment is off the table" talk was to reassure voters that a vote for democrats would not result in months of embarrassing impeachment hearings like the Clinton impeachment. I honestly think the democratic victory would have been even greater if she had promised to impeach the innards out of the lying coward in the white house. Later, I thought she was horsetrading impeachment for cooperation from the few bush-party thugs remaining in the congress. That didn't happen. Now she's probably trying to avoid being accused of flip flopping. Stephanie Miller is certain that the washington crowd only listens to fox and they are desperate not to become the target of the fox echo chamber. It's too late in any case. We can still prosecute the president after he leaves office. I think what would be nice would be someone whose life has been directly screwed up by the president suing the president in civil court. Has anyone's tax debt been increased by bush's tax breaks for his drinking buddies? Has anyone had a relative killed in one of his chimpy face-saving wars? Has anyone been killed because he failed to protect us on 9/11? Get an ambulance chaser on it. Sue him for a billion dollars. Odd that Ms. Pelosi didn't mention that she COULD stop the war if she wanted to. She keeps going on and on about the "60 vote" barrier in the Senate, but that is just a ploy to get herself off the hook. All the Dems need to do is add an amendment (and God knows they know how to do that!!) to a military spending bill that stipulates withdrawal. The Repubs will then try to block the bill through proceedural ploys, and this will cause a stalemate. A stalemate (logjam, roadblock, whatever you choose to call it) is an absolutely perfect scenario. It prevents any military (i.e. war) funding from taking place, thus effectively ending the 'war'. If the Dems were truly determined to stop the 'war' (and I don't believe they are), they could keep this funding bill tied up forever. If a Repub decides to join in on the Dem side, then a Dem could change sides and vote against it, thus keeping it forever in limbo. A perfect storm, of sorts. Of course, since every major player in the House and Senate is in the back pocket of AIPAC, such a scenario will never happen.
