Clinton Claims That Once in Office She Would Decide on Some Powers to Give Up
Clinton says she'd give up some powers
If elected president in 2008, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton would consider giving up some of the executive powers President Bush and Vice President Cheney have assumed since taking office.
In an interview published Tuesday in Guardian America, a Web site run by the London-based Guardian newspaper, Clinton denounced the Bush Administration's push to concentrate more power in the White House as a "power grab" not supported by the Constitution.
Asked if she would consider giving up some of those powers if she were president, Clinton replied, "Oh, absolutely ... I mean, that has to be part of the review that I undertake when I get to the White House, and I intend to do that."
Since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Bush and Cheney have taken several steps to expand presidential authority and diminish the role of Congress and the federal judiciary. Among other things, they have pushed for warrantless wiretapping of terrorist suspects and the use of "signing statements" to justify ignoring or defying laws enacted by Congress.
In the interview, Clinton noted that other presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, had taken on new presidential powers but had gone back to Congress later to ratify their actions.
Bush and Cheney had taken a different course, she said.
"There were a lot of actions which they took that were clearly beyond any power the Congress would have granted, or that in my view was inherent in the Constitution," Clinton said. "There were other actions they've taken which could have obtained Congressional authorization but they deliberately chose not to pursue it as a matter of principle."

I would like to remind Miss Hillary that it is not hers to decide what powers the President does or does not have. Those powers are determined by the Constitution and ultimately by the will of the people.
Little George "shit for brains" Bush and Dick "dont confuse me with the facts" Cheney have formulated an unconstitutional concept they call the unitary executive; but which I call the urinary executive, as in piss on you and your constitution! They only reason they get away with this is because of the cowardly gutless Democrats and lying hypocrite Republicans that have abrogated their responsibilites under the constitution. But that in no way makes the urinary executive legal and Miss Hillary does not determine what powers she has or any other president!

The American people will astonish the world and the mainstream of this nation when the likes of Hillary, Rudy and the other hand-picked "frontrunners" for the Presidency are summarily dismissed by WE THE PEOPLE as being the same old shit just a different year. WE THE PEOPLE want true leaders, not corporate followers prompted with catchy promises given to them to feed us so that popular support will flow to those hand-picked "candidates" just long enough to reach election day, 2008. I sure hope a majority of us who have become so pissed off since January, 2001 are now ready to say NO to the spoon feeding of such "candidates" to us.
Just remember: if these hand-picked "candidates" are getting money from the same people and organizations as in the last elections in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006, look at what WE THE PEOPLE got for our votes. Bush and Cheney, 9/11, a Supreme Court chock full of corporatists assholes who have never seen a bad thing done by a big multi-national American corporation, Bush and Cheney chapter 2, and a Democratic majority that is really a non-entity because it is accountable to that very money that brought us all the rest of the above.
2006 has only proven that there is no difference between the R's and the D's. Both only care about those who provide them the big campaign money they crave and devour. If you think that money comes from the donors out of their desire for good government, there's a bridge between lower Manhattan and Brooklyn you may be interested in purchasing as I hear it's usually for sale!
Wake up now! Refuse to fall for the bullshit about Hillary, Obama, Rudy, Fred and whoever the hell else the media tries to tell you is "electable". What the hell can that mean in late October, 2007 when the election is not until nearly one year from now. When will we as a people demand that all of our elected officials stop that damn constant running for office. I was listening to WPFW a so-called liberal radio station in the heart of the nation with Verna Avery Brown(ass) questioning some dumb---- about the upcoming election. This fellow seems to think that Hillary is the winner already (of the nomination). Neither Verna nor dumb---- ever even mentioned DENNIS KUCINICH. Guess what! If all WPFW can do is spew out words of "wisdom" about the corporate candidates, I don't think I need even to give them one thin dime.
Stop all this foolishness about who will be the next corporate Prez, end the war, and impeach the war criminals.
