From Deep in the Heart of Texas, Impeachment Voices Rise Up
WAY TO GO, FORT WORTH!!!!!
The coalition of groups and individuals delivered 337 petitions to the Fort Worth city council last night. (Coalition of CodePink, Tarrant County Green Party, North Texas Peace and Justice Org, 1919 Hemphill (The Space, and individuals). In keeping with the well known knowledge that local, grass roots organization is the mode in which the corruption, the war, and all social justice problems are ultimately resolved, we presented eloquently and without hesitation.
We received no response from the city council, which is not unusual. We requested discussion and a vote at the next meeting. I am sending
our letter, written today, to the city council. Please continue to have your friends to sign on line (the on-line site can be found in
the past messages in this list/serve).
Diane Wood's letter to Fort Worth's Mayors & City Council members reads:
Dear Mayor Moncrief, Mayor Pro Tem Hicks, and City Council members,
We spoke as representatives of the "Concerned Citizens for Presidential and Vice-presidential Impeachment" resolution last night, December 11th, 2007. We also delivered 337 signed petitions to you, the vast majority of whom are Fort Worth residents, who sincerly believe you will act on this request to endorse the resolution for impeachment. As you can see from the dates and addresses, the petitioners represent a cross section of the city, without representation of any political party, city or county group, religious or civic group.
Since you had no response last evening, we are again requesting that you place this issue on the agenda for discussion and vote at the
next meeting. We are continuing to obtain petition signatures at the date of this writing. There is also an on-line site, specifically for obtaining
signers to petition the Fort Worth city council to endorse the resolution. We will be bringing more petitions to you in the near future, if there is no decision to acknowledge the hard work and the intention of the 337 petitioners requesting your action.I am attaching the resolution, as well as the recently crafted resolution from the National Lawyers Guild
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Diane Wood
