Kucinich on Edwards, Obama, Etc.
Dennis Kucinich is filming a TV commercial as I blog this that takes on Edwards, Obama, and Clinton on health care. He's not backing off on telling the truth.
He just sent around this Email:
Dear friend
For the record:
1. New Hampshire is the first state we are playing in. Due to the party lockout in Iowa, we chose to focus on New Hampshire.
2. I am the only person running for President who voted against the war, against funding the war 100% of the time, against the Patriot Act and who stands for a universal single payer not for profit healthcare system. Nevertheless I was excluded from last night's ABC presidential debate, or four tone monologue as it was.
3. In answer to your questions about why I didn't support former Senator John Edwards on the second ballot in Iowa: I have serious concerns about his connections to a Wall Street hedge fund, Fortress.
While attacking others for accepting campaign money from Washington lobbyists, he is up to his ears in money from Wall Street special interests.
He made half a million dollars in a single year for attending a few meetings for Fortress and has invested a substantial part of his own personal wealth in the hedge fund whose portfolios are responsible for subprime predatory lending practices, medicare privatization and an entire range of corporate sharp dealings which are driving the middle class into poverty.
While I indicated Senator Obama as a preferred second choice in Iowa, progressives have fundamental disagreements with him and all of the other presidential candidates on most of their major positions on the issues.
We must have the courage of our convictions to fully support and vote for what it is we really want. For once we must realize our power, stop playing tactical games and vote as a block. Which as you know is what the religious right does and why they often win.
We progressives are in the majority in this election. We will win only when we refuse to compromise and vote with integrity.

HILLARY IS SMEARED BY TWO MEN
I THINK IT IS REALLY SAD WHEN TWO GROWN MEN WILL STAND UP ON NATIONAL T.V. TO SMEAR A GOOD LADY. THIS DOES NOT SAY MUCH ABOUT BARACK OBAMA AND JOHN EDWARDS. THEY HAVE A VERY STRONG WEAKNESS DOING THIS. I DO NOT APPRECIATE WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO DO TO HILLARY JUST TO ADVANCE IN THE PRIMARY, AND CAUCAUS' TO BECOME WINNERS SO THEY CAN GET ELECTED TO THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS. IF THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO A VERY INTELLECTUAL CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT OF THE USA ALSO, THEN THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA. THEY LACK CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, STRENGHT, AND CREDIBILIITY. WE DON'T WANT A PRESIDENT OF THE USA WITH THIS TYPE OF WEAKNESS ATTACKING THEIR OPPONENT WHICH IS A GOOD STRONG LADY. WHAT THEY NEED TO DO IS TO SHOW US NOT TELL US HOW THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE CHANGES THAT ARE BADLY NEEDED IN USA. TELLING US THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE CHANGES HAPPEN DOES NOT CUT IT, SHOWING HOW WILL CUT IT. BUT STAY HONEST. HILLARY IS HONEST, HAS CHARACTER, STRENGTH, KNOWLEDGE, CREDIBILITY, INTEGRITY, HAS EXPERIENCE IN KNOWING WHAT GOES ON WITH OTHER NATIONS, SHE CAN HANDLE THIS JOB VERY, VERY SUPER WELL. SHE IS THE ONE TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY, MAKE THE RIGHT CHANGES BECAUSE SHE KNOWS WHAT CHANGES NEED TO TAKE PLACE IN ORDER FOR US AMERICANS TO TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY. OUR AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING RIGHT NOW AND CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE FAST, HILLARY WILL TAKE THE REINS IMMEDIATELY. OUR COUNTRY CAN BE SAVED BY HILLARY. NOT BY TWO WEAKLINGS, BUT BY HILLARY. GO HILLARY, STAY STRONG, KEEP FIGHTING, I KNOW YOU LOVE OUR COUNTRY AND SO DO WE. YOU ARE THE BEST CANDIDATE IN THESE HARD TIMES TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND I AGREE WITH JESSIE JACKSON'S WIFE, SHE IS PULLING FOR YOU ALSO. YOU HAVE MY VOTE.
New 30 Sec SMASHING Hillary
Set to go in Nevada and South Carolina as well.

Speak to the FCC over ABC's treatment of Kucinich and others
Hey, sorry if that headline was really spammy, but I'm not sure how to go about the message I'm sending otherwise and I didn't want to come off as trying to be tricky. Here's my pitch:
I think that what ABC has done to Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel and Duncan Hunter is pretty much an outrage, keeping them out of their televised debates. Corporate controlled media has no right to decide who the valid contenders are with ten months to go before the final elections. It is a network that is robbing Americans of our right to make an informed decision about who our leader should be. Any way you want to spin it, it's just wrong.
If anyone reading this would like to let the FCC and FEC know how you feel about this, myself and some concerned voters have created a form on our website that will make it easy to do so. Please visit www.everyonespeaks.com and let us know what you think of the place, or better yet, let the FCC know that what ABC has done is wrong.
--End of pitch. Sorry for the spam-like nature of this comment, but we got this website up over the weekend, and if we can do any good whatsoever, I had to move quickly. Thanks and take care.

Kucinich must have a sharp, remarkable research staff !
Among other reasons, that is why I so admire this man, he surrounds himself with competent personnel.
And because he's right
and works hard to stay that way.
It hurt to see people turn on him over this Iowa thing, even with a record like his they shun him on the first speck of doubt.
I've never trusted Edwards, to me he'll always be the war hawk who threw a fit on the Senate floor getting support to attack Iraq.(now he's the big liberal?)
I think I hear james the troll coming.
And more on Edwards and Hedge funds....
From the Boston Globe, November 15, 2007:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/11/15/a_dark_diagnosis_r...
EXCERPT:
==================
Yet at the same time, Edwards was also working for an industry that symbolized the overprivileged: a hedge fund, a partnership that specializes in high-return investments for the richest and most exclusive of clients. The firm, Fortress Investment Group LLC, hired Edwards in October 2005, several months after the poverty center opened, to help develop investment opportunities worldwide and offer strategic advice on global economic issues, according to a statement issued by Fortress in October 2005.
Edwards said in an interview that as he explored career options he talked with numerous firms, including Goldman Sachs, and decided to work as a part-time consultant to learn more about capital markets and to make money. Fortress did not return repeated calls for comment.
Edwards also said his role at Fortress was as an adviser, not a decision-maker.
"It was just being a consultant on the phone," he said. "They would call and ask what I saw happening in Washington, sort of macro view of what was happening in Washington with the economy. What I saw happening in the world. Those were the kinds of things we talked about."
He earned nearly $480,000 as a consultant in 2006, and stopped his work there by the end of that year; he still has about $16 million of his reported net worth of $30 million invested in Fortress funds. Employees at the hedge fund have given more than $150,000 in campaign contributions to Edwards, making the partnership one of his largest sources of funds.
After he joined the presidential race, Edwards's involvement with Fortress became a political liability. Fortress had invested a portion of its assets in subprime mortgage lenders who recently began foreclosing on homeowners around the country, including some Hurricane Katrina victims, the poor people Edwards's poverty center was set up to help.
When the Fortress investments were revealed in the Wall Street Journal in August, Edwards responded by divesting his Fortress portfolio of funds tied to subprime mortgages. He also helped the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, a nonprofit organization helping low- and moderate-income families, launch a Louisiana Home Rescue Fund. He provided much of the $100,000 in seed money for the program, which gave loans and grants to families whose houses were foreclosed on by lenders, including in some case ones with ties to Fortress.
Still, Edwards sounded defiant when he was asked whether he regrets the work for Fortress.
"I don't apologize," he said. "Nobody ever gave me anything. I worked my rear end off, and I've been able to have some good luck and success in my life. I want everybody in this country to have this chance. I wanted my kids to have a better life. My parents wanted me and my brother and sister to have a better life. There's nothing wrong with that. That's America."

"It was just being a consultant on the phone,"
Well isn't Edwards simply just "special".
Thank goodness
because I am tired of correcting people about "universal health care". People don't seem to realize that under the other candidate's plans (especially Edwards), health care is mandatory - if you can't afford it, off you go to collection agencies.....
Go Kucinich '08! kucinich.us
How can that happen? Is it different from "Singlepayer"?
I know Kucinich wants to use not-for-profits insurance companies, right?
Yes, Kucinich is the only one
who will implement a single payer not-for-profit health care plan. This means no copays, no premiumns, no deductibles and no denial of care. It will cost Americans less than what we are paying now (i.e. get rid of corporate profits)
All other candidates plans continue with the status quo - keeping the insurance companies and HMO's in charge. Edward's plan even goes futher and is MANDATORY - it will utilize collection agencies and other government collection efforts to obtain premiums if you can't afford to pay for it.

On Kucinich - Obama - Edwards - Progressives and the People
From Michael O'McCarthy - Special Features Editor - The Los Angeles Free Press:
Dear Dennis: WHAT? The confusion you have created is here, in your own words:
"While I indicated Senator Obama as a preferred second choice in Iowa, progressives have fundamental disagreements with him and all of the other presidential candidates on most of their major positions on the issues. We must have the courage of our convictions to fully support and vote for what it is we really want. For once we must realize our power, stop playing tactical games and vote as a block. Which as you know is what the religious right does and why they often win. We progressives are in the majority in this election. We will win only when we refuse to compromise and vote with integrity."
This is simply double speak. The tactical move in Iowa may or not be a failure if the Michigan strategy works or not. But the end result of this bizarre political move is to repudiate your own principle position and asks us to do the same. It also contributed to the impetus of the Obama Surge!
How can we criticize Obama - substantive of criticism, i.e., his NH Campaign Vice Chair employment as a lobbyist for the pharm biz, and give credence to your support for him?
Dennis - help us help you. Whoever is giving you political advise is missing a loop in their circuitry. Or you are just too tired to think things through.
Or, as I have suggested, there are times when your own sense of insecurity causes you to blink. You are not the person THEY portray you to be. You are good enough. You come from and represent those they exploit and damage: the poor, the working and middles classes. They portray all of us who dissent as losers, wannabees, not equal to.
BUT GET THIS: Its not ABOUT YOU. Its about what you stand for and what's important to us, the American people.
Dennis, help yourself AND help us. Stop reading the Constitution, it won't change before next January. Read your own position principles and stick to them.
Now admit you made a mistake in Iowa, waited too long to sue ABC in NH and get back to kicking ass.
Yours in the most sincere way possible, Michael O'McCarthy - Special Features Editor - LA Press
Michael O'McCarthy
This is just my opinion...
but I think Kucinich had every right to call Edwards out. He also didn't make a mistake in Iowa - he just showed who was a phony and who "kind of" wasn't. He IS going to kick butt, his biggest mistake was thinking that the mainstream would understand what he did.

TIME TO MOVE ON FROM THE IOWA JIBE!
Iowa is over now is NH. Dennis Kucinich is back to his old self and he is now kicking butt.
Let's prove the na sayer wrong who say "YOU KNOW HE IS NOT GOING TO WIN, RIGHT! EXCUUUUSE ME!!! I do not know he is not going to win! This is not over! IT IS JUST NOW BEGINNING.
Remember the objective of the media is to keep him out because if he is heard HE WILL WIN! HE WILL WIN!! THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE AFRAID OF!!
So IF YOU "THINK HE IS NOT GOING TO WIN" keep in mind it is not over yet and there are alot of undecided votes dying to hear Dennis Kucinich!
No he does not have a chance to win if he is not heard, no one does.
BUT ONCE THEY HEAR HIM, HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT!!
