NY, Town of Wallkill Activists Honor Dr. King with "Honk to Impeach" Event Tomorrow, Sunday, 2 PM
In honor of Dr. King’s legacy of non-violent protest, the Democratic Alliance is sponsoring a second “Honk for Impeachment” at 2 p.m. on Sunday,
Jan. 27, at the Galleria Mall entrance off Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill.
On Jan. 6, more than 40 residents of our county gathered on the median between incoming and outgoing mall traffic for two hours and demanded that local Congressmen aggressively advocate for the impeachment of President Bush and his vice-president. These men lied to the American people about the rationale for war, intentionally distorted intelligence, subverted cvil liberties through unauthorized domestic spying, and violated international law by initiating and continuing the invasion of a sovereign nation that did not pose any imminent threat to the United States.
These transgressions (and others) warrant a full Congressional investigation every bit as much as, indeed much more than, did the break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate in 1972 or Mr. Clinton’s lying to the American people about his private relationship with Ms. Lewinsky.
Impeachment must proceed so the American people can know the full truth — to the extent it has not already been concealed or destroyed — about the acts of those still in power and can maintain a constitutional government.
We urge interested county residents to join us on Jan. 27 and to send a message to Congressmen John Hall and Maurice Hinchey that accountability at the highest level of government is the transcendent issue for our country today. We have had enough of leaders who fail to lead.
