Bin Laden tape

I find it interesting that every time Bush's approval rating hits an all time low or the administration is accused of one more illegal activity a new tape of Osama Bin Laden surfaces. My theory is that Bin Laden has been dead for years and the Bush Administration is faking the tapes to instill fear. Why would they scale back their search for the world's number one terrorist. Because he is no longer a threat. It would not take an advanced computer science degree to fake a tape and everyone that must verify it works for the Bush Administration. Remember Hitler rose to power through fear. This is no coincidence. We cannot let this distract us from the real issues, the impeachment of Bush and Cheney and restoring this country's greatness.

I have been wondering the sam

I have been wondering the same thing. It seems everytime Bush or Cheney step into another pile of poo, miraculously a tape of Osama suddenly appears. Just one more way they have discovered to throw sand in the eyes of the American people.

Bin Laden tape

Maybe Ben Laden is alive and times the tapes to "help" Bush, etc. He understands the incompetence and corruption of Bush, etc as well as the gullibility of those who voted for Bush. Ben Laden is playing mind games and laughing his head off.

Campaign Finance Reform

We need a Democratic majority in Congress again, obviously, before we have a prayer (hah) of achieving anything of value and then we MUST have meaningful and effective campaign finance reform. Corporations own our government, whether Republican or Democrat, and each of us. We are conditioned virtually from birth to consume, work, pay taxes, consume, work, pay taxes, consume, work, pay taxes, consume..........you get the picture, while we are further diverted in our leisure time by TV, movies, sports, fashion, celebrities, travel, trends and fads, etc., etc., all to keep us too busy to put any attention on all too dull politics which have become intentionally confusing and overwhelming. We are cogs in the corporate machine, robots to do their bidding. Educate yourself. Read Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World", see "Fahrenheit 9/11", read "Understanding Power: The Indispensible Chomsky". Stop caring about the shallow crap we've become convinced is so important, stop consuming to keep up with the Joneses. Turn off the TV and work hard to elect Democrats this year and in 2008. Btw, Capitalism doesn't work. History proves that wherever and whenever it has been used wealth ends up in the hands of the few while everyone else struggles. We've been convinced it's almost holy by........guess who? We're all Americans who care about our country and our Constitution. It's no accident that we're at each other's throats in a partisan name-calling, childish fight. Stop. It's another diversionary tactic and it's working. Just stop right now. And stop paying any attention to those who promote it, like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, the FOX News Channel, all hate-mongers who distract us and waste our time and energy. Our enemies are not each other, don't continue to be duped, we don't have that luxury any longer. Corporations, with their greed, will destroy our species with global warming. They've literally gotten away with murder while we "slept". We either wake up now or the horror movies come true and the cockroaches take over at last.

Campaign Finance Reform

While I agree with your comments regarding "Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, the FOX News Channel", I hope you are not inferring that we should rely on CNN and their Situation Room with Wolf!! What a sham this far right corporate backed media station is becoming. They now either cover the interests of Fox News or "Bubble Gum" coverage. The only exception, of course, is Lou Dobbs. I wonder how much longer he will last as their "cover up"!! I'm SO happy for Aaron Brown; he's too good of a reporter to work as a puppet for these phonies.

Mr. Bush and Mr. Chaney

Mr. Bush and Mr. Chaney work for oil co. and other big busines, the other people do not have any one in this admin. working for them hope we can change this in the 2006 elections. thanking you Robert

Impeach Bush/Cheney

We cannot live this way, always under threats! Not only from terrorist, but our own government. This is ridiculous. I sense the group has taken over that threatened years ago. They want to have the USA, all others leave. They have no room for others, just the elect! They must go now, before it is too late!

Look At it This Way

If it had been that Iraq was the dominant power and the US was the weak one being led around by a tyrant (as they are) and the government in Iraq thought the US to be a threat to thier national security (as they were) . Had it been thier decision to invade the US to eliminate the bad guy and bring freedom to the people of the US. Those that supported the tyrant would continue to resist and as the infrastructure was destroyed , the pre-existing tensions between the pro-dictator faction and those opposing would escalate. Because of the actions of the Iraq government thousands would be effected by the deaths of thier children.parents etc...It would not matter one bit that those deaths were the results of the good or bad intentions of the invading country. Those that have lost thier loved ones would of course pick up arms and resist the cause of thier loss. Why does this administration expect a different human response from the Iraqi people? No matter where the bullett or missle that killled the child or parent came from , It is irrevelant and another terrorist against the invading country is created. Not rocket science by a long shot,Mr. Bush.

The unbridgable chasm

The United States congress having created for themselves a Golden Fleece Retirement plan has provided the wherewithall to live in a state of isolation from the rest of the American public. Here in this one self engrandizing congressional criminality lies the fundamental chasm that can never be chalenged or retified and is the absolute barrier between honesty in government and any and all of the concieveable act of criminality that is the hallmark of the coporate owned "peoples" representatives.
Americans haggle and wrangle and postulate unceasingly about the corruption of the congress of the United States and the need to reform that entity. But when ask to define how that can be done they simply haven't a clue. No one tells them that the only way to achieve that end is to outlaw forever that one simple program; and make it mandatory on the congress to live under and by the same regulations that the rest of Americans are required to suffer; The Social Security System.
There is not a single problem anywhere in the country involving living costs or medical practices or retirement issues that wouldn't be addressed and resolved if those people who are supposed to represent us had to live under the same rules and restraints that the working people are required to live by.
But guess what: they don't. And they never will. Theirs' is a world of financial luxury with an iron clad guarantee of continued lifetime luxury totaly independent of any concern for the well being of the population or the degree or severity of their misconduct.
Congressional reform ! I don't think so. It isn't the hidden illegalities of the congress that make it what it is ; it's the obvious and apparent contempt that the American people can't seem to grasp even when they are staring it in the face. Long live the squabbling discontent. It's America's marching tune to the passing of democracy.

Charles Tague's post

Very interesting issues brought forth here. Indeed, the people of our once great country have lost sight of the government. They seem to know nothing about our constitution which states undeniably that those who are put in the positions they hold are put there as our SERVANTS! Yet, following the 2nd, WW, everything has turned around and slowly but surely, everyone from the president down the chain of command has taken on an untouchable "king-like" personna! This is what must be addressed if America is to remain a free nation.
All criminal activities; and they are numerous, should be called to answer. From Bush and Cheney to Rove and Rice. Like any street criminal, they should face the judge and pay the piper. A fall-guy here and there will solve nothing. Here, we have men in power who have committed mass murder on a country that was no threat to us and they knew it. They have committed treason, the most scurrilous of any criminal activity. They have attempted to brainwash the country with their "fight against terror" campaign, when they, themselves are the terrorists!
America is filled with ignoramuses who'd rather watch a stupid "comedy" program than read web posts such as "Truthdig", "The Nation" and "Common Dreams." Bill Moyers, one of the greatest journalists this country has ever had, can teach us more in one paragraph than all TV combined.
Thank you for this post, Mr. Tague.

Unabridgable Chasm Indeed

I think you have it correct, sir. Americans can't grasp the reality of what is happening before their very eyes. And even when it's spelled out for them, they seem to be on disability and powerless to do anything about it. Congress has no incentive to ever change the rules as long as the populace too quietly sits back and pretends that it's really not that bad yet. America will eventually wake up, and be fed up, but I, for one, believe that it may be too late.

The lethal condition you describe

Is exactly what transformed Cheney. As a lifelong rep he grew so to despise his compatriots that he schemed to ruin the nation, because he could - and get away with it. He has. Laughing all the way to the bank.

Cheney & Bush

Impeach Cheney first, then Bush. Believe it or not, Cheney is the ventriloquist back of George W. Bush. He is one of the most dangerous men in America: an intellectually-advanced, spiritually-dead animal.

You are right. We need to impeach the administration.

We have the right to abolish any government that subverts the will and benefit of the people.

This administration is up to something though. One wonders if their purpose was to be the bad guy at a time when it was in the US's interest.

We must consider the lack of media coverage, how that affected public opinion and outrage (or lack thereof,) and if we were kept ignorant for something those in power saw as "required" to secure the realm into the future by securing the energy source.

I doubt it, since the focus seems to be the restriction of oil (or creating a scenario where oil could be said to be restricted because of conflict, well fires, shelling of the pipeline...anything will do)and the accompanying rise in prices and profits for the friends who visited the white house in early 2001 with cheney to come up with "energy policy" as a task force.

It was fascism. By definition, fascism.

Apathy or fear or both

It's said that the greater the fear of a people the less likely they are to act. I agree with the poster who stated that it's apathy, ignorance and lack of interest that is playing a major role in keeping a criminal administration in place. I submit, too, that fear is a large player in this very dangerous game.

I meet with a small group of people approximately once monthly for discussion on the political scheme of things. More than half are republican and it's these guys, more than any, who're pushing and hoping for impeachment. They're angrier than a hungry wolf and deeply ashamed that they gave a vote to Bush. I'm with them all the way but there are other democrats who are afraid of impeachment because of the uproar it could cause in the country and the potential fall of the stock market. I'm sure that I'm repeating myself, but it can stand repeating. It's my contention that we are a country that would recover from a drop in the stock market and dissention amongst the people. What we cannot recover from is the further damage that can and will be done by the Bush administration in three more years. With such people in power, three years can seem like an eternity. Three years can sink us. We are much like the great, unsinkable Titanic, with the great iceberg looming.

I do not wish to come across as melodramatic but we must look at the poor people in our country who cannot heat their homes, drive their vehicles or even put a decent diet on their tables for their families. These are the people who pay the taxes that keep this whole sorry government operating. The rich only get richer because our "siver spoon" president is without conscience and through the sweat of poor workers, he must pay back the wealthy conglomerates and individuals who put him where he is.

Does Bush really need 150 billion more for his war? If so, it means that he has no plans to end the war, but to expand it. If Congress takes this money from American needs to further feed this individual's bloodlust, we must take a hard look at Congress. We must ask what they're there for. Thus far, they've caved in to every insane policy drawn up by this administration and our own country has gone to hell.

How much evidence does Congress need to act on ridding our nation of continued destruction by people who've broken every law on the books, dismissed our Constitution and Bill of Rights as if they never existed?

Notwithstanding a war that has no groundings in sanity, is wiretapping and spying on Americans without proper authority not a crime? Is Cheney's hunting without a license and injuring a fellow shooter not a crime? Americans had better get real.

Impeachment

It has been some time since my last post. Democrats have taken the House and Senate on promises that they would put an end to the Bush/Cheney war of insanity. Not only have they done nothing to end the war but allocated billions more in funds to expand it. I speak not only for myself but friends from all over the world. The Bush/Cheney team are viewed as conspirators, to take whatever and whenever they choose. Now, they're blowing evil winds towards Iran because "Iran is arming militants in Iraq." They've alienated Russia for the hairbrained notion of erecting a shield in Europe that would protect us from nuclear attack, while at the same time, planning to hit Iran with nuclear weaponry. For the lack of a good, positive National Security, we may be certain that our country is infiltrated with terrorists; some from within, some from without. The odds against us is piling up, big time. But the blind, egotistical maniacs who're in charge can't see it or see it and do not care. I believe that we can correctly assume that the Bush/Cheney conglomerate, with all their stolen billions, plan on purchasing a deserted island on which to build their mansions and live forever after in lavish comfort and the safety they won't be leaving behind in America. America will be a battleground for our descendants as long as the country stands and the responsible parties are none other than the Bush/Cheney team! S. Barksdale

Impeachment

I am an American citizen who has attempted to put this issue on the table for at least one year!
One month ago I drew up a petition, A Citizen's Manifesto, for the impeachment of Bush, Inc. It can be read and signed at petitions@earth.care2.com.
In my opinion Bush, Inc. [Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove and all who serve them] should have been impeached when it was learned that the Iraqi war had been a set-up.
I was educated in philosophy and learned to think past the tip of my nose. Undeniably, America is under the thumb of a criminal leadership. Two very brilliant criminal minds are in charge; Cheney and Rove. They are both Master liars. They both train Bush.
I have been involved with Mr. Thompson's Timeline's in an editorial capacity. This work is not just some crackpots speaking through foghorns. This is very well researched material and only the truth is found there. It is spine-tingling and gut-wrenching. America could be likened to being in a quicksand pit and is sinking, slowly but surely, beneath the surface.
It is vital for the survival of our nation to impeach Bush, Inc. Time is of the essence for each day they remain in office, the danger to our country becomes greater.

...and then what do you get, Dennis Hastert?

Impeaching the two isn't enough. We'll end up with another Jerry Ford who'll quickly pardon both of them. Instead, hoard your ammunition, buy up Diebold stock to keep the company honest (might want to pursue criminal charges against its former head), vote out the Republicans in Congress including Hastert, then impeach Bush and Cheney!

Too late?

I'd love to be positive and say we can fight back and win, but not at this rate. Americans are ignorant (not always on purpose, but sometimes willfully), apathetic, bored, confused, busy, insecure...

9-11 was a false-flag terror attack that has served the purposes of the U.S. and Israel exceedingly well. Now the Bush administration can do no wrong--all they have to do is remind people of 9-11 as their excuse to get away with ANYTHING, even if it's blatantly illegal. "Oh don't worry, it's legal ('cause we say so)..." Our rulers have placed themselves well above the law.

Another false-flag 'terrorist' attack is probably coming to the U.S. soon, and the U.S. government will be behind this next attack as well. That way martial law will become the norm and all the people already indoctrinated to accept the police-state atmosphere of New World Order America will feel right at home, because our rights & liberties will be gone, and everyone will be so SCARED of terrorists and SCARED of the government that they won't do a thing to fight these fascists.

Maybe humanity needs psychopathic personalities (i.e., no conscience) like the Bush administration to continually test us and see if we're still human enough to fend off tyranny and fight lies & injustice. Maybe if the Bush administration can get away with it, we all deserve what we get. But maybe that would be simply blaming the victim; I'm not sure.

But one thing is certain: tyranny is alive and well in the U.S., and it wants MORE. MORE power, MORE wealth, MORE fear, MORE security, MORE public ignorance & confusion. Currently, Americans show no signs of having the collective gumption to stand up and say "POWER TO THE PEOPLE--LET'S TAKE THE POWER BACK."

Do we have the courage and intelligence to take the power back?

Yes start legal proceeding ASAP

First arrest them, then have a public trial with lots of evidence so the people can savor the justice when they are found guilty and then executed per US Constitution for Treason.

Then grab the rest of their crew and repeat, until they are all held accountable. Use the Nuremburg method, hunt them down until they are all given their day in court.

This process may take generations but what the hell it would serve as a great reminder to any future criminals contemplating similar behavior.

First block Alito, then regain Senate, then impeach

We deal with a chief executive who claims the so-called "war-on-terror" gives him the plenary right to order indefinite detentions of citizen and non-citizen alike on nothing more than a "claim" of enemy combatant status, the right to direct the kidnapping of "suspected" terrorists from any location on the planet, rendering them to certain torture in foreign facilities, some of which are run by the CIA, the right to order domestic surveillance of peaceful dissident groups like the Quakers, and the right to order warrantless NSA eavesdropping in direct violation of an act of Congress.

A judge who asserts that these radical claims of dictatorial presidential power involve an "open question of law" is a direct and immediate threat to the very survival of Constitutional democracy. It is not enough for Senators to "oppose" the Alito nomination. Their oath to support and defend the Constitution demands that they join with Senator Kerry, blocking the nomination with a filibuster.

For the rest of us, it is not enough to simply recognize that Bush et al. have committed impeachable offenses. We must recognize that there is a well-financed cabal that presently exercises near-complete control over two of the three branches of government, the executive and legislative, and which is moving to consolidate control over the third, the judiciary. It misuses the "Fourth Estate," more commonly referred to as the "mass media," spinning Karl Rove inspired propaganda as if it were "news." We must also recognize that this cabal exercises Leninist-like discipline over the Republican party.

If this cabal is to be stopped, we cannot limit ourselves to a single strategy. There is an immediate need for every American who values the rule of law to call, E-mail and FAX their Senators, insisting on support for the Kerry filibuster. There is a similar need for each of us to openly challenge the media's "spin" on events while we work to regain Democratic control of the Senate. Impeachment will become a realistic objective only after the cabal's dominance over the legislative branch of government is broken.

Sincerely,

Ernest A. Canning

Alito filibuster and Impeachment

We are faced with a chief executive who claims that the so-called "war-on-terror" gives him the plenary right to indefinitely detain citizen and non-citizen alike on nothing more than a "claim" of enemy combatant status, to order the kidnapping of "suspected" terrorists from anywhere on the planet, rendering them to near-certain torture in foreign and secret prisons, often run directly by the CIA, to order surveillance of peaceful domestic groups like the Quakers, and to direct the NSA to engage in domestic eavesdropping even though such an order is made a felony by an express act of Congress.

A judge who asserts that these claims of inherent dictatorial presidential power involve an "open question of law" is a threat to the very survival of constitutional democracy. It is not enough for Senators to oppose the Alito nomination. Their oath to support and defend the Constitution mandates that they join Senator Kerry's effort to block the nomination through use of the filibuster.

For the rest of us, we must begin to comprehend that we deal with a well-financed cabal which, through Leninist-like party discipline, exercises near-complete control over two branches of government, the executive and legislative, and which is seeking to consolidate power over the third, the judiciary. It has gained substantial control over the Fourth Estate, more commonly known as the corporate mass media, passing off Karl Rove inspired propaganda as "news."

It is not enough that we understand that Bush et al. have committed impeachable offenses. We must be flexible enought to see that a multi-pronged strategy is required. Each of us who believes in the rule of law must call, E-mail and FAX our Senators, urging their support of the filibuster. We must challenge media "spin" whenever it occurs. We must do all we can to regain control of the Senate for the Democrats. Impeachment will become a realistic goal only when the power's dominance of the legislative branch is broken.

Sincerely,

Ernest A. Canning

We should have impeached Bush

We should have impeached Bush a long time ago. But it is not too late. IMPEACHING BUSH IS A MORAL NECESSITY. He has destroyed the U.S. economy. He has destroyed the U.S. standing in the world. He gave tax cuts to the rich, underfunded infrastructure (leading to such tragedies as the New Orleans flooding), and sent the U.S. military into a sinkhole of unending violence and waste in Iraq. He has lied, obfuscated, and corrupted the halls of government at every turn. He is intimately linked to the corruption of Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, and corporate citizen-screwers like Enron and Halliburton. If we don't punish this abuse and debasement of America, then we are all to blame.

Democracy Rising Impeachment forum

Does anyone know where I can get a tape or transcript of the C-SPAN broadcast about the Democracy Rising forum on Bush-Cheney impeachment with Ramsey Clark, Cindy Sheehan, Ann Wright, and Kevin Zeese that was broadcast Monday night/Tuesday morning (Jan. 30)? I have not been able to access the webpage about it on C-SPAN and the discussion had some really good information.
Thanks.

I watched the show Sunday and failed to record it. If you find a copy, please let me know. I too would like a copy.

Impeach Bush and Cheney Before It's Too Late

I'm an ex-adjudicator (that's something like a judge). I'm convinced that 911 was an inside job. Here are my allegations:

Guided U.S. military drones hit World Trade Center buildings One and Two. An eyewitness, who worked for Fox News, said that the jet had no windows and was definitely not a passenger plane.

The flying manouevres recorded could not have been made by a passenger jet; the onboard computer would have overridden it and the G-force would have made the pilot unconscious.

The hijackers who knew how to fly barely passed their training on Cessnas; they could not have flown 757s the way those planes flew.

Pods on the belly of the jet, as seen in photographs, are uncharacteristic of commercial airplanes.

President George Bush stated that he watched the plane hit WTC1 on TV from Florida on his way into the classroom though no broadcasts of a plane hitting WTC1 were made that day.

The plane impact did not bring WTC 1 and 2 down; they were brought down by controlled demolitions, as anyone can see from the many video analyses out now.

WTC7 was not hit by a plane, but was brought down as well by a controlled demolition, as can be easily seen from the videos. It was "pulled" because it housed the SEC files on Enron and other major Wall Street financial investigations. Owner Larry Silverstein said he gave the order to “pull it” – a demolition term for “bring the building down.”

The BBC and CNN reported WTC7's collapse a half hour before it actually occurred. How can you report the collapse of a building that is still standing and is easily visible in the background of the BBC report? Somebody goofed.

Silverstein, who just bought the WTC a few weeks before the attack, made $2.2 billion from his terrorist insurance. In terms of "who benefitted?" [cui bono?], he, for one, did.

The hijackers, all of whom were said to have died, have been reported alive by a team of German documentary makers, by American Alex Jones in his documentaries, and by the Saudi government. Mohammed Atta's photo was taken earlier in the day for a connecting flight that took him out of the U.S. No names for any of the hijackers appear on any of the alleged flight manifests. Notice too that Osama bin Lauden is not charged with the WTC bombings on the FBI wanted poster currently out for him.

The Pentagon was hit by a cruise missile. The 14-16-foot hole it made was too small to have been made by a Boeing 757. And there was absolutely no wreckage that one would expect from a jetliner, such as 6-ton engines, wings, wheels, tail assembly, seats, or, most importantly, bodies. The FBI confiscated footage from the gas station and hotel adjacent to the Pentagon and have released none of their own copious footage except five inconclusive frames.

The ensuing jet-fuel fire would have burned too low (1800 degrees Celsius, I believe) to destroy or vaporize titanium engines (which vaporize at, I think, 2800 degrees Celsius), as the authorities claimed.

In an interview with Parade Magazine, Secretary of Defence Rumsfeld openly said that a missile hit the Pentagon.

Flight 93 was also hit by a missile. Secretary Rumsfeld said so in a second press interview. Nothing else can explain again why there is no wreckage, no bodies, no wheels or engines, around the crash site. Eyewitnesses, one of whom was a Vietnam vet, reported hearing a missile and an explosion.

As far as cellphone calls go, a Univerity of Western Ontario professor demonstrated that cellphones, at the time (2001), would not have worked above 4,000 feet altitude; certainly not at 35,000 feet.

We don't know what happened to Flight 93, but it isn't in that hole in the ground.

The United States itself planned these operations as “false-flag” or covert operations designed to frighten the American people into demanding security measures and justifying a war against the Middle-East nations who needed to be conquered to access recently-discovered rich deposits of Caspian-Sea oil. Iran is the key to these oil initiatives since the oilfields are off its coast. Afghanistan is the country through which the pipeline is slated to run.

The U.S. has previously carried out false-flag operations against the U.S.S. Liberty in 1967, to create a pretext for war with Egypt and secure the Suez Canal (the operation failed because Russian ships were watching the Israelis bomb and strafe the Liberty) and in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Now, if you're still with me, and I hope you are, you can see that Bush and Cheney are up to their armpits in some very bad stuff (mass murder and high treason for starters) and are committed to achieving their agenda before they lose elected power.

If you watch their activities at the present moment, you can see that they are putting in place all the executive orders they would need to create a dictatorship. Remember that Prescott Bush, Dubiya's grandfather, made his money as a banker for the Nazis in World War II (google Bush and Nazis).

Look at the trend of Bush's presidency in the last year and you'll see that time is running out for free speech and human rights. (The confidence with which Bush pardoned Scooter Libby should also indicate his level of preparedness and disdain for democracy.)

If we don't act soon, Bush will stage a second 911 and assume dictatorial powers. If the military goes along with him, America will be living under martial law.

There is no time to delay. It is a race between impeaching Bush and watching Bush enslave America.

Stop any idle discussion and impeach Bush without delay - before it is too late.
