Leaving Iraq: Strategies for Immediate Withdrawal
WHAT? The Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party and US Tour of Duty will present a panel of distinguished speakers from the fields of politics, foreign policy, journalism, and defense, as well as citizen activists, to discuss the immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq. The Progressive Caucus hopes to fuel a dialogue within the Democratic Party regarding an immediate end to the occupation of Iraq. The audience participation format of the event is designed to equip attendees with information and action plans that will allow average citizens to facilitate an immediate end to the Iraq conflict.
WHEN? Saturday, January 28 at 7:30 PM following the quarterly meeting of the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party
WHERE? Grand Ballroom- Manhattan Beach Marriott, 1400 Parkview Avenue, Manhattan Beach.
WHO? Scheduled to appear on the panel are:
• Scott Ritter - former chief weapons inspector for the United Nations Special Commission in Iraq and author of several best selling books including Iraq Confidential: The Untold Story of the Intelligence Conspiracy to Undermine the Un and Overthrow Saddam Hussein and Frontier Justice: Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Bushwhacking of America.
• Congresswoman Maxine Waters, chair of the Out of Iraq Caucus
• Dr. Stephen Zunes - Professor of Politics and Chair of the Peace and Justice Studies program at the University of San Francisco and the Middle East editor of Foreign Policy in Focus, a think tank dedicated to peace, justice, and environmental protection
• Ann Wright - former State Department official, who resigned from her high-ranking post in 2003 in protest of the Iraq war
• Dr. Michael Schwartz - Professor of Sociology and Faculty Director of the Undergraduate College of Global Studies at Stony Brook University whose books include Radical Politics and Social Structure, and Social Policy and the Conservative Agenda (edited, with Clarence Lo)
• David Swanson - AfterDowningStreet.org co-founder and Washington director of Democrats.com and ImpeachPAC.org
• Harlan Hopgood - a Senior, US Foreign Service Officer for 25 years with appointments under Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter and Reagan, Mr. Hopgood is recognized as an authority on institutional reform and public policy in developing nations.
Radio host and political commentator Steve Young will moderate the discussion. Panelists will address prepared questions as well as questions from the audience.
In addition to these speakers, the panel will also feature citizen activist Lisa Lubow, who will talk about effective strategies for citizen action against the war.

Remove the troops from Irac immediately
I hope that we can immediately remove all American troops out of harms way in Iraq. However, such a more would materially interfere with George Busk's plan for dictatorial control of the world. Any intelligent person will have no problem finding evidence that world domination is the final goal Of George Bush Jr. He is carrying out the plan that was fabricated by his father and his groop of bandits around 1990, if my computer don't lie.
Bush's secret war
Overseas, Bush sanctions torture and murder against people who will eventually strike back against American citizens. In the United States he claims that even though he broke the law with a "project" that spies on American citizens he still did not circumvent the law. Impeachment is the only solution. Congress, as the only legal authority over the president, needs to act now.
Our Nation
After spending 28 years serving in the military and defending our constitution,it breaks my heart to see whats happened to this graet county.Rich neocons, who never served in war are sending our poor and lower middle class children to fight and die so thier spoilled brats have the "choice" of going to fancy colleges or being "patiotic" and seving in the military!!
They serve their masters well by making the military /industrial big international rich and avoid any personal responsiblity nor do they have anything to lose or risk.
This administration is desperate to take over the government by claiming war powers and destroying congress oversite so important to our 3 branch system og governing.
By using a back door draft,of stop loss and avoiding a draft( the first time we have ever fought a war without a draft so all will serve)this administration is exhausting our forces by constant de[ployment,so they avoid the political risk involved in a draft(children of rich clients would have to serve).
This administration has attacked any person who disagrees or states an opinion not in line with the neocon rehtoric and propaganda of the extreme radical right wing.
They call heroes like John Mcain and John Kerry.Murtha,as traitors!!
Impeachment is the only answer!!
