Why Peace Organizations Should Work for the Impeachment of Bush and Cheney

1.-Impeachment is where people's energy is, all over the country. If we want a large and growing and democratic movement, we should listen to our members.
2.-Exposing the lies and the crimes related to this war is, more than anything else, building opposition to the war, as well as to future wars. There is no better way to expose the crimes than to demand an investigation that could lead to impeachment. (As demanded by H Res 635.)
3.-Bush and Cheney have given dozens of speeches making it abundantly clear that the US will never get out of Iraq as long as they are in the White House. Congress has put up no serious challenge to that state of affairs.
4.-Not only may Bush and Cheney soon attack another country, but future administrations will be far more likely to launch aggressive wars if Bush and Cheney face no consequences for having launched this one.
5.-Every organization can work on impeachment. Articles of impeachment, or a bill for an investigation (like H Res 635), are no more partisan than any other piece of legislation. Even 501c3s can spend 15 percent of their resources on lobbying for legislation. It will be very difficult to impeach Bush and Cheney, or get out of Iraq, without bipartisan support.
6.-We may not achieve an investigation, or impeachment, or removal from office until there are fewer Republicans in Congress. But, then again, we may. It is our place to act, not to make predictions. But, for those making predictions, impeachment is no more implausible or unreasonable than ending the war.
7.-If we want to elect a Congress more likely to end the war, we will be wise to raise the issue of impeachment so that it becomes a campaign issue. There is stronger and more passionate support for impeachment than for any other issue. We need something people are passionate about if we are going to turn out voters in an off year. 8.-We cannot wait and push for impeachment later, after an election. Newly elected Congress Members, of whatever party, will not take up a cause they were not forced to campaign on. Instead they will argue that 2008 is just around the corner and the time is, once again, not right.
9.-We cannot count on a new Congress to end the war or alter the Bush-Cheney agenda in any major way, without impeachment. Bush and Cheney will continue their policy of treating Congress as if it doesn't exist. They will ignore laws passed by Congress that they do not support.
10.-We cannot be afraid of impeaching Bush because Cheney might be worse. An investigation into possible grounds for impeachment serves an educational and political purpose, whether or not we get to impeachment. We further discredit the administration and its supporters in Congress, and we help to build an opposition. It would be virtually impossible to investigate Bush or Cheney without incriminating the other one. Cheney is running the show now backstage. If by some combination of incredibly improbably occurrences he ended up president, we'd be better off with him up front as a walking advertisement for the opposition.
11.-It is our duty to demand impeachment. If you cannot impeach for the highest crime imaginable, taking the nation to war on the basis of lies, then you can never impeach, or impeachment must be reserved for sex. It is the duty of every citizen to demand what is right and just, come what may. More important than who sits in the Oval Office is that they know that we can hold them accountable for their actions.

These are ALL great points- especially 4 and 8- as far as point ten is concerned, I remember as a child watching in fascination as street magicians pulled off what was seemingly impossible. As I got older and "wised up" to the tricks, it became apparent that one hand seems to be taking action, and all eyes are on that hand. meanwhile, it is the UNWATCHED hand that is really doing the dirty work. This is Cheney. Bush is really just there to be "in the spotlight" so that Cheney can do his trickery behind the scene, unnoticed. This was their plan from the get go.It's worked so far, the American public has been largely duped. However, when you know which hand to watch, The trickery becomes obvious. Even if cheney becomes president, he will be the one in the spotlight, either making his deceit obvious to all, or rendering him impotent, or both. It's a win-win. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, as they say.
Beyond Impeachment
This cabal is far too dangerous for us merely to settle for impeachment. We need to plan toward disabling the gang of thugs permanently, probably by means of irredeemable, unpardonable jail time.
patriot Act
I think we need to strip mr. Busch of his patriot act completely. violates our constitutional rights. Gov can look into your bank accounts, cops can make unwarranted searches. you can be unreasonably be detained by law enforcement using the word Security. Believe this, prison security guards are even using it against there inmates and visitors. Why??? They always come back to the word, Security.
I want the protection of the constitution. Its very simple, impeach Busch and Cheney for violating there Oath of office. Thats to uphold the constitution.To violate the constitution is TREASON. Dallas Wolff a Korean War Veteran. Lets get busy.
Dispel the Myth that Bush is Keeping us Safe
It will be impossible to correct the multiple erroneous policies of the Bush administration
by either votes or impeacement unless the millions of voters who mistakenly believe that only the Republicans will keep us safe from terrorists are dispelled of this myth.
What must be continually pointed out is that the exact opposite is true!

What is fact is that the Iraq invasion combined with Bush's "Axis of Evil Speech" has made every World trouble spot FAR WORSE than it was in 2000. Specifically, North Korea, with only a weak nuclear program in 2000, is far worse today, Iran, which had a liberal president in 2000, is far worse today. The Middle East, which came close to an agreement under Clinton, is far worse today. Pakistan is worse, Haiti is worse. And even Iraq, which had no terrorist group in 2000, and whose citizens then secretly admired us, but who now fear their streets and roads and openly dislike us, is worse today. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and the invasion of that Country has only produced a new set of terrorists while the "old terrorists" yet remain.
Very Much Under Educated
Sure he should be impeached, and when the politicians stand behind him only because of there party, we are in a great big mess.
I honestly believe we all know (95%) of Americans know this man is no more qualified to be president than a kid in the 5th grade.
It is so obvious that Bush's education level is around the 7th grade. If he would just step down, he would do the country and most of the world a very big favor, and be reconized as a realist and face the fact that he does NOT belong in this office.
Three more years of him and this country will be as close as down the drain as can be. How very sad, and dangerous. This is a bad dream.
Impeachment
When I was a kid, I always thought that if this country came under attack it would be from without. I never imagined that our own president, someone my age, would be responsibile for telling such blatant lies, launching an unjustified war, heading us into bankruptcy and causing the world to hate us - all in 5 years. It's time to impeach him. There is no other honorable course. The people who used to look at the country as a beacon on freedom, now see us as the opposite. We need to restore our self-respect as a nation and regain the esteem of the world.

6. Record national debt. 8 trillion so far.
7. Dismantled the EPA. Put the #4 top polluter in charge.

9. Preventing us from filing class action lawsuits against corporations who do harm to us, however, they can still sue us.

32. Gained 2 million jobs but lost 5 million at the same time.
33. 9 billion dollars lost in Iraq oil money they can't account for.
34. Protecting polluters from being sued by us to clean our water supplies.
35. Will not promote alternate energy sources such as wind power or solar energy.
36. Tax breaks for gas guzzling SUV owners.
37. Spying on hundreds of thousands of Americans, Illegally, without getting a
Warrant.
38. Is allowing 6 major US ports to be run and controlled by United Arab Emeris.
