Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has introduced articles of impeachment against George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Condoleezza Rice. In doing so, she alone has spoken for the 51 percent of Americans who Newsweek says want Bush impeached. Read McKinney's remarks.
McKinney charges that Bush, Cheney, and Rice manipulated intelligence and lied to justify war, and that Bush has engaged in illegal domestic spying. The former charge has been extremely well documented, and the latter proudly confessed to. The former charge was central to the concern of those who included impeachment in the U.S. Constitution. The latter charge is one of openly violating a law that was established in response to President Richard Nixon's impeachable offenses.
The media attacks on Congresswoman McKinney have begun. McKinney foresaw the current attacks on her record and forged ahead anyway. Now, we need to support her.

Sunday, December 10th, is Human Rights Day, the 58th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a document that lays out, in 30 short articles, rights that every human should have protected. Eleven out of the 30 have clearly been violated in the United States by President Bush and his administration, rights including:
Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Article 6: Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.
Article 9: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.
Article 12: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence….

I wholeheartedly support the impeachment of George W. Bush. However, I think that someone other than the clown that is Cynthia McKinney is needed to lend credibility to the movement. It's too bad Al Gore wouldn't do it.

How sad that the simple act of someone on Capitol Hill actually honoring their oath, defending the Constitution, and doing the job that the American people pay Congress for is such a noteworthy occasion. Anybody who refuses to sign on to H.Res. 1106 should either be recalled or added to the list of those to be impeached.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, John, we should impeach every politician who is not competent in the execution of their duty to serve the citizens of the United States of America and uphold its Constitution. I just can't understand why so many people are so afraid of the word "impeach". Translated into layman's English, we're just firing them for doing a lousy job ~ a right every employer has. They work for us, people, yet somehow people think we should bow down to them, bend over forwards, let them do as they please, and pay them good salaries and give them good livelihoods for it. How much more absurd can this country of apathy get?

I just wanted to thank you for your bravery, decency and honesty in bringing forward impeachment charges against this, perhaps the worst administration in US histroy. Standing so articulately against the zeitgeist--even in the Democratic party--has been your hallmark and I can think of no better way to cap a stellar performance than with this parting gift to the American people. These people, Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld-Rice-Gonzalez-Rove et al. need to be brought to justice. I believe they are no more than, bluntly, liars, thieves and outright murderers who have disgraced our nation, killed its citizens and waged a criminal and illegal war.

The majority of Americans who agree with The Hon. Congresswoman McKinney are fed up with the "LIBERAL MEDIA" failing to do its job as foreseen by the founding fathers. Previous comments note that Con. McKinney is truly living her oath and this is courageous on her part. Her position serves as a beacon of light to the incoming majorities in the House and Senate. Ms. McKinney this Viet Nam Vet salutes you. The House Judiciary Committee's Minority Report states there is a prima facie case that the Bush Administration has broken at least 7 federal and international laws.
Their war of aggression in Iraq qualifies as the "supreme international crime" by definition of Nuremberg Tribunal. Anyone not supporting investigations into the crimes, impeachment if substaniated, removal from office and then criminal trials is complicit in their crimes.
Our 2,932 dead soldiers and their families, the 650,000 dead Iraqi civilians and their families are do an accounting. Elected officials please do your jobs. Return our country to the rule of law.

Do those who are yelling for Impeachment
understand that Impeachment is only a legal statement of charges, and that an official who is impeached faces a second legislative vote, which determines conviction, or failure to convict, on the charges? That second Legislative vote would require a 2/3 majority to convict and if they don't get the 2/3 majority they MUST acquit, the Democrats don't have the votes. Perhaps that's why Pelosi is saying "Impeachment is off the table" she knows they don't have the votes and if they press on they might ruin any chance to hold them accountable.

No one has all the answers but when there are more questions than there are answers, time needs to be taken to find the facts which may provide the answers.
Impeachment is the process of investigating how and why certain actions and results happened. Should sufficient facts be realized which indicate that certain officials need to account for their conduct, it is those facts which should determine his or their fates.
The nation has endured six years of great secrecy and the result has been a decided decline ethically, economically and culturally in America. We have never been this divided since the Civil War. How amazing is that given how united we as a people were after the 9/11 tragedy?
The nation needs to come to grips with just why this has happened and hold any and all those accountable for this decline.
Having said all that, I admire your service and courage in serving the nation. Here's hoping you enjoy a safe and joyous holiday season wherever you may be.

Republicans must vote for conviction
Republicans who vote against conviction will be seen as the co-conspirators they are in the 2008 election. And they know it. There is no longer much value in defending Bush, and the Republicans in Congress will sacrifice him to save themselves.
Bush, Cheney, and Rice will get what they deserve.
We've also seen yet another demostration that (most of) the Democrats in Congress can't be trusted to defend us against the worst tyrant this country has ever seen. I'm going back to voting (mostly) Green.

It appears some "citizens" fail to believe that you can implore the impeachment process to move forward with the complete understanding that impeachment is just that, a process.
This above post questioning whether those of us who seek impeachment understand that it is a first step in "the process" are rather naive.
Impeachment for this individual's information is actually the investigation into the possible wrongdoing of the officials being investigated. The process is mandated by the Constitution, you remember, "that God-damned piece of paper"!
Of course we understand the steps. We also understand the other steps and in the "trial" step, the Senate acts like a jury. Jury members are expected to put their prejudices aside and consider the FACTS and in the end make a determination of guilt or innocence.
To summarize, yes, we who favor impeachment clearly understand "the process"; and, yes, we understand the "political" make-up of the Senate. However, more imporatntly, we understand that the investigation and presentation of the FACTS is what is going to determine the fate of the government officials who may be brought up on Articles of Impeachment.
The previous reply which warns Republicans about "the process" and its potential political consequences in the event that these Republicans ignore potential facts to protect Bush and the others, is accurate. Should they fail to function in accordance with the Constitutional duties imposed on them, the future results for the GOP will be complete devestation along the lines of Katrina in New Orleans.

I am just an average person, a student from The Netherlands. It is very difficult to keep updated on all important events, with the media being very selective in what they show, or write about. And now that it has been a few days since your heroic action, it has been proven to me once more how powerful the media is. Here in The Netherlands there has not been said or written a word about, not even within the so-called alternative media…the news just didn’t come through.
