Dear Dems: You had me at hello -- You lost me at "we will not seek impeachment"

I've watched as most of you participated in shredding the constitution by voting for the patriot act. I?ve watched as most of you voted to give Bush the authority to attack Iraq. I watched as Senator Rockefeller shook Senator Pat Roberts hand on a pre-election agreement by Roberts to hold a real investigation into the specific misuse and abuse of Iraq intelligence after the elections, and I?ve waited now for two and a half years for those promised hearings to convene. I have heard absolutely nothing from Senator Rockefeller in the way of a public demand for the man to keep his word.
I watched John Kerry's politically suicidal refusal to say he regretted his war vote after the WMD claims turned out to be lies, right in the middle of a supposed bid to be the next President. I?ve watched as John Kerry failed to answer his ?Swift Boat? attackers week after week and now, two and a half years later, I listen to him whine about how ?unfair? it all was. I?ve watched as John Kerry promised not to concede to Bush in a highly questionable election, only to watch him immediately concede.
I watched as you exposed Roberto Gonzalez as a liar under oath and an advocate of giving the executive branch the powers of a king, and then watched in disbelief as you voted to confirm him in anyway.
I watched as Dick Durbin cried like a little girl and apologized after being scolded for daring to compare US torture camps to Russian torture camps.
I?ve watched as you voted to approve two ultra right wing fascist Supreme Court judges who touted a ?Unitary executive? theory and then go on to whine about 750 ?signing statements? by Bush.
I watched as you approved John Negroponte, a criminal involved in running police death squads in Latin America, and now watch as you now decry the daily murders in Iraq by?.police death squads.
I watched as you voted to approve General Hayden as head of the CIA after five and a half years of domestic spying violating the Constitution. I watch this as Howard Dean, the man who once dared to tell the truth when no one else would, now sits behind a desk silent, fund raising for the very people who wanted him out of national politics as a candidate. They succeeded.
I have watched all of this, and through it all, I was still committed to voting for Democrats in six months, if for no other reason than to do my part to punish Republicans for their endless assaults on the rule of law, our freedoms, and indeed on our very way of life.
Now though, a veritable last straw has been placed upon the camel?s back, which I can not, and will not endure; Our so-called ?leadership?, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, have come out and declared that the Democratic Party ?will not seek the impeachment of the President if they [sic] gain a majority in congress?.
How much is enough? With this, it is enough: I am not going to vote for you.
I have realized some things I believe are very important; First, why, after all of this, could I possibly expect you to represent me if I actually reward your five years of gutless complicity and moral bankruptcy? What kind of fool, would reward this appalling display and expect it not only to end, but not to actually get worse?
In this world, there are people without conscience who commit unconscionable crimes, and then there are people with consciences who actually stand by and do nothing as the crimes are committed. Which is really worse? I?ve concluded it?s the latter.
Secondly, I?ve considered the real alternative and it?s likely effect; let the Republicans continue to run the country and their party into the ground. This may in fact be the only chance for a cure for this otherwise terminal condition: Let America truly hit bottom. Yes, it?s hard to believe, but it can always get worse. Just maybe it needs to before it can get better. Maybe the American people need another six years of this hell before they will finally do something to end the two-party nightmare which has finally exposed it's true lethality to the Republic. I know one thing; the evidence against the Democratic party has accumulated now beyond any further rationalization. And in the even bigger picture, it?s been accumulating for forty years as the so-called ?centrists? in the Democratic Party have run the party over a cliff again and again, failing the better half of this nation. Vietnam actually taught no lessons whatsoever. From the DLC?s resistance to their own base in 1968 which got us Richard Nixon, until today, it?s been forty years of idiots like Bob Shrum putting their political robots into tanks or Harley Davidsons for photo ops in times of national crisis. The so-called ?center? is nothing but a stinking, hollowed rot.
In my State, I am confronted with one of these diseased incumbents; Maria Cantwell. A Democrat who has voted lock step with the GOP on every assault, conceded to every lie, approved of every usurpation of our freedoms, and who has most recently voted for the ?IRAN Freedom Support Act?; certainly a vote for another war based on more lies and even less ?evidence? (NONE), than the Iraq war was.
I can either stay home in 06, or vote for a Green Party candidate who?s a communist and member of the Back Panther Party. I?ll have to decide how vindictive I really feel, but the communist radical is actually starting to look like a viable possibility if for no other reason than to send my message. Am I supposed to go to the polls for the benefit of the spotted owl after all of this?
Finally, at the end of the day, this comes down to what now appears to be the sickening reality; watch the country continue to descend into hell for two more years under Democrats, only to be inevitably returned to the GOP in 2008, or to let the damage continue under the GOP until something finally breaks for good. I want the GOP broken for good.
At this point, I believe that a loss for Joe Lieberman in 2006 is probably of more value to the people, than any Democratic victory. Hillary has been readied to defeat the people, all of them. I simply will not support it.
You want my vote Dems? You have very little time to issue some very big retractions and withdrawals of candidates, beginning with a commitment to the voters to seek impeachment of the most criminal administration in history, and ending with your withdrawal of support for Hillary Clinton. But if you continue to "keep your powder dry", I will do likewise in November.

Blows Against The Empire
It's good to see someone around here reach some kind of epiphany.
But the voters in Washington state need to go one step further.
The government run public schools, at least by implication, indoctrinate the citizenry to accept without question that they have an obligation to go to the polls on election day not to express their true preferences amoungst candidates, or excercise their right to vote, but rather to choose between the Republican and the Democrat.
But, up until the middle of the last century, the sort of pervasive disconnect expressed here was always resolved by the emergence of third partys.
In addition to government school indoctrination, campaign finance reform and ever tightening ballot access requirements are implimented specifically to block the rise of third partys.
Throughout American history, until recently, third partys have appeared on the scene whenever wide-spread discontent with the two established partys created the demand.
In some cases, as ironically with the Republicans, the third party would suppant one of the established partys.
Now the Republicans and Democrats collude to block this process. With only two competitors, finishing second is a good enough prospect to serve as incentive to cooperate to block other competition.
Until voters show the established partys a willingness to reject either or both of them, rather than merely choose between the two of them, they will continue to address each others interests, rather than those of the electorate.
The basic strategy of the Rep/Dems is unite and conquer. Each voter is alone in the voting booth, and whatever they may prefer to think, they must act and decide as an individual. They have convinced most voters that they must make decisions based on preconcieved impressions of what the likely outcome will be.
But if the value of each individual's vote is it's effect on the final outcome, then the individual voter cannot escape the fact that had they not voted, or voted for another candidate, the results would have been the same. Thus on that basis, thier vote really is truly meaningless.
So the effect on the final outcome can hardly be the seat of meaning and significance of the individual's one vote, can it?
Does that mean that the individual's vote is meaningless? Hardly, the meaning of the individual vote is in it's expression of conscience on the part of the individual. The individual has a civic duty to vote for the candidate who they find best suited or most representative of their views, with no regard to the question of which candidate they have the impression is most likely to win. This is the only perspective and approach which gives the individual vote significance and meaning.
That is simply the abstract nature of the act of voting, whether the voter understands or acknowledges it, or not.
The individual cannot control the matter of who wins the election; they can only control their own vote.
The common practice of accounting for predictions in voting decisions is foolish and irrational, as again, one's individual vote is too unlikely to alter the outcome.
Ask yourself, with no other PRACTICAL basis for voting decisions, what's so repellent about allowing your conscience to be your guide?
Aren't you the one that's always whining about congresspersons being "too cowardly" to do the "right thing"? What kind of example are you setting for them when it's your turn?
As for the voters in Washington state this November, they need to face the reality, all the money may be backing the Republican and the Democrat, but for them, it's a two man race:

And BTW I'm a Libertarian hardliner myself, but if "communist" Aaron Dixon were the only alternative to the Rep/Dem conjoined twins, I would vote for him with clear conscience.

if you vote for the third party you vote against demos
We need demos in office.
If you vote for the third party...
Maybe, but to repeat, "let the Republicans continue to run the country and their party into the ground. This may in fact be the only chance for a cure for this otherwise terminal condition: Let America truly hit bottom."
Maybe You Do
Like Cinton and Lieberman?
Speak for yourself, fool.
People of good conscience need people in congress that will support impeachment and immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, regardless of party affiliation.
Being Dem/Rep should be viewed as a drawback, whereas third party candidates are almost without exception committed to these policies.
If third party candidates were just interested in personal political advance, why don't they avail themselves of the advantages of the established partys?
Why, if a propective candidate will represent you faithfully, would you not support them as they are not allied with the Democrats?
It's this attitude that allows the Democrats to ignore you (as you bestow upon them unconditional support) and cater to their real constituency; the Republicans.

voting against DINOS is the only way to fix this train wreck
the DINO's have to go. voting for them is the same as voting for assholes like Clinton and Lieberman....and the rest just exactly like them, like Maria Cantwell, et-al. I can't list all of them here, but they goddamned need to be GONE as in OUT OF FUCKING OFFICE!!!
Great letter!
This letter to the Democrats is one of the best posts I've seen here. Continuing to vote for these traitors will only send the message they can sell us out with impunity.
And what's so bad about the Greens -- They were on the RIGHT side of the issues you've cited, AND THEY'VE BEEN CALLING FOR IMPEACHMENT FOR A LONG TIME!
Dear Dems...
I, too, have been repeatedly stunned by the behavior and comments of Democrats at the national level. They've talked well until achieving the destination, then seemed to have turned into quivering masses of fearful indecision. In many cases, they act as if they were being blackmailed, or as if a loved one had been threatened with harm if they didn't back off. Sadly, given the record of Rovian verbal thuggery, I wouldn't be at all surprised should it be discovered that the intimidation factor had been brought into brutal physical reality.
MUST RID OURSELVES OF THE DINO-SORES
just like de-evolution, Democrats de-evolved into 'republican lite' folks who are fostering and harboring the agenda of the right wing theocratic nazi bastard fascists, some of them vote so often with the republican scum they might as well be 'siamese twins' conjoined at the place where their spines would be if they had them.
we need to ditch these LITE versions of the fascists and I mean, as soon as possible. in some cases, time to do it in the '06 election cycle, if an independent or green party choice exists for them.
The Dems Lost Me With Their Support Of Bad Science, Kidz . . ;-)
The Dems lost me with their support of Bad Science, kidz . . . ;-)
First, with their support of the great "Drug War" . .. phase one of the great fascist police state . . .
Then, with their support of the "Official 9/11" story . . . phase two of the great fascist police state. . .
But these whacky Saturdaze kidz were fighting back in Los Angeles this weekend!!! Rock On you 9/11 American Scholars for TRUTH!!!

Of course, you won't hear anything about this symposium in the "Israel First" American Media, kidz . . . In the PNAC/AIPAC "Subjective Truth" world, it never happened. . . ;-)
I guess it goes back to when they all decided "Oswald Killed Kennedy". . .Magic Bullets, Gateway Drugs, and Magic Jet Fuel . . . you just can't trust the Grown-Ups, kidz . .. they are quite insane. . .they will suppress, lie, manipulate, intimidate, torture and kill to get their way. . . just like "The Death Eaters" in the Harry Potter books . .. ;-)
Like Diogenes in the time of Alexander, who would walk around with a lamp in broad daylight seeking an "honest man", this ol' yippy fool just seeks a champion of TRUTH and JUSTICE FOR ALL, but sadly finds only "squeaky clean" Grown Ups clothed in expensive suits, wrapped in scripture, and draped in flags with the lust for Power in their eyes and cliche sound bites on their lips who are willing to do their masters' bidding for a larger share of the "team" spoils . . .who have no problem sacrificing the innocent for their "Just and Noble" cause of "more". . . ;-)
