Bush's "moral boundaries"

When Bush vetoed the embryonic stem-cell bill (the first veto of his presidency), he remarked that the implementation of this bill would have promoted the taking of innocent human life, something that “crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect.” Regardless of the merits or pitfalls of the bill, I find it ironic (to understate) that this president invokes morality as the reason for his action--this president who has crossed so many moral boundaries himself . . . to devastating effect. Where were his concerns for moral boundaries when he determined to invade Iraq on the flimsiest of pretexts (an action that promoted the taking of tens of thousands of innocent lives)? and why did this concern for morality not prevent him from lying to the American people about the reasons for the invasion? It certainly didn’t prevent him from authorizing warrantless eavesdropping on US citizens--something forbidden by our Constitution. And it seems to me that by deciding to use torture on suspected terrorists--an extremity of action formerly reserved (at least in modern times) for brutish despots and genocidal madmen--a monumental moral boundary was breached (imagine a family member subjected to such interrogation techniques). Holding suspects indefinitely, without trial, charge, or access to attorneys? Here, at last, the Supreme Court finally intervened to say that Bush had strayed too far across a moral boundary, and reeled him in a bit. But there remains plenty of slack in this president’s moral line.

This president, fueled by an overweening arrogance and disregard for human rights, has used the “war on terror” as carte blanche for astounding violations of international and domestic law, all the while massaging and manipulating the fears of the populace, hoping that our anxieties would cause us to turn a blind eye as he usurped authority and trampled over one moral boundary after another. This president has failed his office and his country in virtually every way--but most strikingly, his is a failure of leadership. Instead of openness, we have secrecy; instead of reason, we are given bombast; instead of vision, there is murky confusion; instead of calling to the “better angels of our natures,” we are asked to accept brutality and the widespread abuse of the most basic of human rights.

And we have no one to blame but ourselves. Sending Bush to the White House proved nothing less than catastrophic, yet the voters sent him there a second time. It is my fervent hope that the American People take their responsibilities at the polling station more seriously in the future. In the meantime, impeachment anyone?

I second the motion

I hereby second the motion for the IMPEACHMENT OF GEORGE W BUSH, RICHARD B CHENEY, CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS, JUSTICE ALITO, JUSTICE SCALIA, JUSTICE THOMAS as well as the immediate arrest of Condi Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, Tony Snow, (I'm so angry I'm running out of names to list, anyone else want to add some?)

A quailfied Third

I suppose in the spirit of the venerable spleen venting tradition, we could throw in a retroactive impeachment of George H. W. Bush for contributing half the genes and half the upbringing of the present inhabitant of the White House. In all fairness, however, I think it might be a bit early to impeach Roberts.

I can add some more

You say that you ran out of names to list. I can easily come up with more: the entire crowd down at FOX News, and also Rush Limbaugh. I know that impeachment only applies to politicians, but the thugs whom I just named are such a bunch of vile liars (who reach a broad part of the American populace, no less), that getting rid of them is almost as important as getting rid of Bush & Co (hell, FOX News is basically a branch of the Bush administration).

Alas, I cannot agree

One of the things that makes this country great is freedom of dissent. However irksome, however maddening, we may find some of the boisterous opinions offered up by one radicalized ideology or another--I personally will fight to protect the right of every fascist-leaning, would-be demigod; every intellectually challenged extremist; every bigoted hate-monger--in short, every individual, no matter how personally reprehensible (or lovable for that matter) they may be--to express their ideas (within the limits of the law). We simply must always be at the ready to point out the fallacies in the extremists’ argument, and make every effort to ensure that rationality is given a hearing.

We should also be willing to point out the mistakes--even the lies--espoused by those we support as no group is immune to the temptation to distort the facts. No matter what our allegiances, we should always remain committed to the Truth above any party, any ideology, even above our own country. (How much evil has been perpetrated throughout history as a result of a dogmatic adherence to the idea of “My Country, right or wrong?”) So I believe.

I second the motion

You can add Paul Wolfowitz for defending his war - he was a major architect of President Bush’s Iraq policy. Paul Bremer the former administrator of the American-led occupation of Iraq.

I would also like to see some of these radical religious leaders legally prosecuted and fined for their financial support of candidates (politics and religion? church and state? we haven't learned from history!) via tax free gov't contributions "faith based initiatives" and the loose and criminal ways they use portions of their "coffer" funds that used to be used to help fellow poverty stricken families and folks.

Nowdays, their "coffer" and "faith based initiative tax revenues are used to persecute "sinners" of their bias's, and the funds are used to finance politicians that PUSH their "personal" agenda's down other peoples throats.

I am a believer in God and detest what these high profile radical religious folks have done and are doing. I am offended by their actions, their lack of compassion, their greed. Pat Robertson of "christian broadcasting network" for his diamond mining ventures with the most brutal dictator in Africa and his latest venture capital investments in "oil refineries". James Dobson of "focus on the family" for his remarks about New Orleans and their "sins" and Gods justice and judgements against them, COUPLED with his lack of similar remarks about "Bush territory - Florida" and their devastating hurricanes and their sins, lets not forget Tony Perkins of "focus on the family" complaining to New Orleans pastors for not helping promote "values voters" in New Orleans", when he hasn't lifted a hand or any help(s) to help their devasted region recover (he is too busy JUDGING those citizens), and he talks about "VALUES"???!!!
Lets not forget Michael Heath of "the league", and his offensive website homepage.
Here is a letter I sent to Michael Heath of "the league", regarding his use of coffer funds to incite hatred rather than love, peace, tolerance, compassion and love for your neighbor.

Dear Mr. Michael Heath,

On your website you said "Homosexuality is a sin that arouses God’s anger in a special way."
http://www.cclmaine.org/Record/Stories/02%2003%2005.htm

I would point out to you sir, that while they were "eating, drinking and marrying" (heterosexuals) in Noahs day, God flooded and drowned the entire human race – except Noah and his - because of their abominations. I'd say heterosexuals arouse Gods anger in "special" ways. Luke 17:26-30 They did eat, they drank, they married wives (obviously heterosexuals), they were given in marriage, until they were destroyed. Mathew 24:37-42 they were eating, drinking and marrying when the floods came and killed them all.
Your anger toward a specific culture is not justification for discrimination, inciting hatred and not especially sanctioning such via Gods word. Sodom and Gomorrah was about RAPE (the towns people wanted to "know-rape" the two angels) and many other factors such as Ezekiel 16:49-50: NOW THIS WAS THE SIN OF SODOM: She and her daughter cities were "arrogant", "overfed" and 'unconcerned"; "they did not help the poor and needy". (sounds like BUSHanomics to me). Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to "fornication", and going after "strange flesh - beastality", are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

At minimum Mr. Michael Heath should "study" his bible before he preaches the "GOOD NEWS". We all know - the first and most familiar flesh to all people is their own flesh, women experiment with themselves first and most in their lifetime and the same goes for men - there is nothing "strange flesh" about our own genders bodies.

It would be better for all that Mr. Heath and his cohorts HEED "Mathew 7:1-5 tells us not to judge because we will be judged with the same measure of judgment we dole out to others. Phillipians 2:12 tells us to take care of "OUR OWN” SALVATION, it doesn't say "take care of your neighbor’s salvation. Mathew 22:36-40 Jesus gives us the two greatest commandments and the second greatest is to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR, it doesn't command any conditions - it is an UNCONDITIONAL COMMAND. 1Corinthians 2:2 the apostle Paul admits that he made many mistakes and in the end he talks of knowing NOTHING except Christ and Him crucified. Paul was a murderer of anyone who didn't subscribe to the Pharisee and Saducee's religious doctines - until Christ Jesus knocked him off his HIGH HORSE!!!!

Now, I dont intend to start a "true Christian" repulsion, just a repulsion against these RADICAL right wing, Bush supporters!! STOP the killing, STOP the persecutions of people different than you, STOP the lies, the manipulations, the playing on words, the greed, depriving the needs of the less fortunate poor and needy people, the haughtiness and arrogance, LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS IF HE WERE YOURSELF!

Note, When the disease of sin has become epidemical, it is fatal to any place, Isa. 1:5-7.
II. That they had arrived at the highest pitch of wickedness; they were sinners before the Lord exceedingly (ch. 13:13)

WE ARE LIVING IN A DANGEROUS TIME. The lack of love for our neighbor's has exceeded epidemical proportions!

Retroactive counter to Illegal justice

Much of the so-called "laws", court appointments and "faith based" garbage should also be removed as a result of the pending impeachment of the criminals listed in the Conyers Report. The actions and apointments, war and financial embezzlement of the Bushco/Cheney-Halibarton scam need also be recalled as punitive damages against those parties in whole.

The Supreme Court justices appointed by these crime bosses need to be recalled as well. It is time this nation builds a "Bottom Up" strategy, that they begin from "WE the People..." securing the basic foundation first and foremost. IMPEACHMENT is now our tool to dismantle and rebuild our nation and world credibility.
