December 10th is not only Impeachment Day; it is also International Human Rights Day. On December 10th and 11th, take a stand against the legalization of torture. Make the torture that is being carried out by our government in our names a reality that people must confront in their daily lives. Spend the day wearing what the Guantanamo detainees have to wear everyday: dress in orange jumpsuits, hoods and shackles – wear it to school, to work, to church services, to shopping malls and farmer’s markets.

Currently, 14,000 people are being detained by the U.S. without charges. Many are subjected to torture. In September this year, Congress made all of this legal with the Military Commissions Act (MCA), which:
Gives the president the right to hold people indefinitely without charges and without the option of review from the courts, nullifying habeas corpus rights.
Denies defendants the right to see evidence used against them and allows the use of “evidence” gained through torture.
