Connecticut Opposes the War

From C.O.W.

Last Saturday, 500 of us met with Congresspeople John Larson, Joe Courtney and Chris Murphy. The Congressmen heard testimony from: Tom Matzzie, founder of MoveOn.org; Rev. Dr. Steve Sidorak, the Exec. Director of the Christian Coalition of CT; John Olsen, the President of the CT AFL-CIO; Carmen Boudier, President of CT's largest union, District 1199; former Lt. Governor Kevin Sullivan, former Speaker of the House Irv Stolberg; CT House Majority Leader Chris Donovan; Peggy Gray, mother of a recently returned Iraq vet, James Madison, decorated vet from the Gulf War; Carl Dudley from The Hartford Seminary; a CT psychologist who treats vets with PTSD, and others.

The message from all these speakers was that being against the war is not enough; we expect our Congressional Representatives to organize in Congress to end this war, and soon!

COW has decided on an ambitious plan to bring the anti-war movement to every corner of Connecticut by holding simultaneous COW Town Meetings on Saturday, February 24. These meetings should be co-sponsored by congregations, union locals, community leaders, and regular citizens all over CT to share viewpoints and strategize on how to keep the pressure on to end the war. The COW Town Meetings will also help to organize a massive rally in Hartford to mark the anniversary of the invasion in March.

WE NEED YOU TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP ORGANIZE THE MEETING IN YOUR TOWN!

With your help, we brought 1,500 people to protest the war at the Statehouse in March.
With your help, we brought 500 people to an anti-war meeting with 3 Congressmen last Saturday.
With your help, we will make history by holding simultaneous, conference-call connected anti-war meetings involving religious, union and community leadership, plus thousands of regular citizens, all over Connecticut on February 24.

Only YOU can make this happen!
Call 203 329-1629 or 860 655-4179, or write to CtOpposesWar@yahoo.com, to volunteer,

CT against the War

The Citizens of Connecticut should tell their Senator, Joe Lieberman, to shut-up and stop supporting George W. Bush's war policies. He is in the Senate to represent the views of his constituents, otherwise he should resign.
