Thank Conyers for what? Avoiding impeachment?
Anybody who can read the Constitution can tell you that we don't need any time consuming "investigations" to determine whether or not Bush's signing statements represent a threat to checks and balances and the rule of law.
When the President of the United States thinks a stroke of his pen allows him to ignore laws passed by Congress at his whim, we don't need to sit around and chat about whether or not he's wrong. We need to act immediately to remove him from office.
The evidence is all in the record, much of it compiled by Conyers himself. George W. Bush is unquestionably the most impeachable president in the history of our country.
I'll thank Mr. Conyers when the Pretender-in-Chief is impeached and convicted.

Demanding Truth, Accountability and Justice.
Thanks, John Conyers, for aiding and abetting FASCISM
and dictatorship, and enless war, destruction of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and everything good about this country. Thank you very much for allowing a dictator and mass murderer run roughshod over our inalienable rights as citizens. Thank you for aiding and abetting torture, murder, and illegal wars on innocent people. Thanks lots!!!
Thank You Congressman John Conyers !!! :o)
We all took baby steps before we walked... that's kinda how impeachment works... it's gotta start somewhere ...10:15am on January 31, 2007 is a good time ... I'll be sure to mark my calendar ;o)

Untruths and Inconsequential Actions
Jan. 28, 2003 THE FELONY
Feb. 3, 2003 A BIGGER LIE THAT OMITS THE FELONY
Result?
Over 650 thousand Iraqis and 3000+ American soldiers silenced, FOREVER!
Revealed -
Sen. Chuck Hagel in an interview with GQ Magazine...and I edit for brevity...
U N A C C E P T A B L E!
That the President can knowingly commit a FELONY and be rewarded with a war that profits his friends.
WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?
Until there is some, anything goes with this group of corrupt mobsters. ANYTHING!
I hate to make the comparison, but Hitler didn't just want Austria when he invaded but the whole of Europe.
OPEN YOUR EYES MY FRIEND!
While it may not be the same, it is OF the same intention; HEGEMONY through military coercion (aka TERRORISM). It may not be as systematic as the Nazi's in Germany were, the clowns dressed in Presidential costumes, now, keep tripping over their egos. For that, we should be grateful. But to stand still and not flinch? PATRIOTIC SUICIDE!
Signing statements are what happens when LIARS are allowed to LIE.
Mobsters are what happens when criminals are allowed to profit from their crimes.
Band-aids? or surgical cancerous removal?
Is this really THAT tough of a decision?
Oh, I forgot...
IT'S ABOUT '08. ISN'T IT?
BULLSHIT!
What does '08 have to do with the National Security of a Nation shamed and loathed for their Foreign (non-diplomatic) Policy that ferments disgust each and every day the criminals are free?
As IF '08 will change this in the worlds eye? BULLSHIT!
National Security begins at home!
Bush's continual assault upon our securities and the continued infringement upon other nationals world wide happens because he's allowed to. In his most recent SOTU he addressed all of Congress and implored that YOU, Congress, continue the fight to keep America and Her people secure.
Let me remind you, Congressman, that it is the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that affords me my securities not the actions of men. Allow those securities to be taken away, and you do us a disfavor and a great injustice.
Give me Liberty or give me death
I Suppose IF you have to start somewhere, well, you might as well examine what compels the man to create those caveats that grant himself such unconstitutional powers in the first place. "I'll follow the law unless..."
But to ask, under Bush? How about, at all!
Does the President have or hold the capability to craft law? Or merely to veto the crafted laws as presented so as to be sent back for better craftsmanship? If only to include Presidential caveats.
To be honest, I let out a big "All right!"
====================================================
You aren't defending, protecting, preserving the Constitution of the USA
When you allow the usurpations of the Constitutional laws of the USA.
Untruths...
This is amazing. How have these things come to pass in our country? How is it that there are not throngs of people in the streets with bags of feathers and vats of hot tar? I suppose it's because people are paying so much attention to the IMPORTANT issues that they can't be bothered with this. After all, who cares about the constitution and the history and future of our country when there are matters of such urgency, like whether or not Emmet can do a better CHA-CHA than Mario.

P.S.- Great post, MAX, as usual!
MD
MAX, You are a Consummate Patriot
I need not add a thing to your post. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth of support for everything you said in your post.
Let's see how the MSM covers DC tomorrow. They are getting a chance to redeem themselves for their dreadful non-showing in DC on 9/24/05!
Magnetic Ribbons And The Yellowcake Of Faith
When we wake puking shame
at last, and know the dream
for sham, embraced en masse...
When bells that rang victorious
hang mute, their tarnished claims
ignored in disrepute, and
bitter sons, having been all they
could be, can't wish back innocence
or the leg below the knee...
(This brash regime's trimmed reason
from its ranks, its black guard
in the street, protecting flanks.)
...then will we heed the schemers'
gloating leer? "There's no future
for dissidents here."
Row on row, with hand
in trembling hand, it's come to this.
WE DREAMERS PLAN TO STAND!
Bush Investigation needs to look at his Texan past.
Thank you Mr Conyers for investigating Bush's crimes. Please look into any crimes (or evidence of such) he committed while Governor of Texas, as well as DWI convictions he's had before serving the public, including allegations of spousal abuse due to alcoholism.
