Democratic "Leader" Tells Washington Post "Reporter" He Wants War to Still Be Going in 2008
From the Washington Post
"For the rest of the year, Emanuel says, the leadership hopes to stress energy independence (with fuel-saving efficiency standards for appliances and cars) and a move toward better health care for children. And here's what Emanuel doesn't want to do: fall into the political trap of chasing overambitious or potentially unpopular measures. Ask about universal health care, and he shakes his head. Four smart presidents -- Truman, Johnson, Nixon and Clinton -- tried and failed. That one can wait. Reform of Social Security and other entitlements? Too big, too woolly, too risky. If the president wants to propose big changes to entitlements, he can lead the charge. The secret for the Democrats, says Emanuel, is to remain the party of reform and change. The country is angry, and it will only get more so as the problems in Iraq deepen. Don't look to Emanuel's Democrats for solutions on Iraq. It's Bush's war, and as it splinters the structure of GOP power, the Democrats are waiting to pick up the pieces."

WHAT?
Raul, What are you smoking? Oh, I get it. AIPAC has interpreted the sense of the American people when they voted on November 7, 2006 and put your party in control of the House and Senate.
When WE THE PEOPLE clearly rejected Bush and the neocons on Election Day WE THE PEOPLE really were giving the Democrats a "mandate" to "oversee" the Bush administration's systematic dismantling of our basic foundation of government. Yes, that is what WE THE PEOPLE sent as our message November 7, 2006.
Raul, you have insulted all intelligent Americans of good will with this mindless drivel. I dare you to come out and have a discussion with any 100 or so actual Americans assembled at any random location. No hand picked group of sychophants and lemmings. Have a video crew there to record the "discussion".
We all know you and most of the rest of the Congress are more afraid of WE THE PEOPLE than you are of OBL or anyone in Iran. Oh, WE THE PEOPLE are just starting to get the idea of who and what it is you guys and gals really fear, AIPAC! That's right. All you guys and gals that are elected by WE THE PEOPLE who translate our votes into lock step support for anything and everything Isreal wants. America be damned just so long as Isreal gets the support all that AIPAC campaign money can buy!
A great start at 2008 would be campaign finance reform. Then an investigation into AIPAC by say a certain special prosecutor, whose initials are PATRICK J. FITZGERALD, would be fun for WE THE PEOPLE to observe just to see how far down from the top the cancer has spread.
This excerpt . . ."what Emanuel doesn't want to do: fall into the political trap of chasing overambitious or potentially unpopular measures" is most distressing to me. Championing the core values of the traditional Democratic agenda is no "political trap" unless you are summarily afraid of the right-wing pundritry plaguing the country with its venomous rhetoric for a quarter century.
That must be what it is. Fear of being "trapped" into actually defending the defensible for WE THE PEOPLE. Why is it not a trap for the right-wing to have to defend the indefensible, the systematic destruction of the US Treasury, Constitution, education, etc. all for the greedy benefit of the nation's wealthiest few. Where is your righteous indignation about the obvious economic injustices of the last six years of the greed grab?
Let WE THE PEOPLE know what it is going to take to give you cowards what you need to rid this country of Bush and Co. Bush and Cheney and their prissy butts must be ridden out of government forever along with all of their criminal cohorts, especially those on the Supreme Court and sitting (read shitting) on the federal bench.
You don't have to wait to "splinter the structure of GOP Power". Simply subpeona all suspects to come before the House Judiciary Committee, take testimony, take names, compose multiple articles of impeachment against all suspect parties no matter what office and then put them on trial in the Senate.
This will force the "GOP Powers" to have to decide whether THEY put the party before the country. Forcing GOP Congress Members and GOP Senators into this corner is their worst fear and the most desired potential event that WE THE PEOPLE gave you the majorites to perform
NOW GO DO YOUR JOBS!
What Was Rahm Emanuel Smoking ...
when he opened his mouth and made these outrageous statements to the WaPo?
Energy independence and better health care for children is great, but none of them are going to happen without a functional economy and an end to the Iraq War, which is draining what remains of our economic and material resources.
The longer this war goes on, the more isolated America will become from the rest of the world, and Emanuel's comments lead me to believe that he's solidly in the pockets of AIPAC/PNAC and the Anglo-Dutch bankers who'd love to see America collapse through endless war. America's collapse would render the nation and its' citizens useless in the political and economic arenas, which is just what they want.
Iraq isn't "Bush's war" as Emanuel so facetiously claims; it's also LIEberman's war, Emanuel's war and Hillary Clinton's war. All those Democrats who supported the initial resolution giving the go-ahead to this costly folly are just as responsible for the deaths of over 3000 Americans soldiers and nearly 700,000 innocent Iraqi citizens as the Republicans, and their hands are just as bloody.
DINOCRATS think WAR STILL GOING MEANS MORE VOTES FOR DEMS
how contrare, how contrare! it means GREEN PARTY IN 2008, folks, if there is even an election after the MARTIAL LAW DECLARATION!!!!!!
Vote Green!
The justified criticism of the Democrats would not be complete without mentioning the alternative: The Green Party.
The Green Party has been for:
1. Withdrawing from Iraq
2. Impeachment of Bush and Cheney
3. Single-payer universal health care
4. Withdrawing from the NAFTA-like trade agreements that export American jobs to low-wage countries.
Just what you'd expect from a party that doesn't accept corporate money. http://www.therealdifference.org/issues.html
Vote Green!
The Democrats want...
The Democrats want a Republican President in '08.
Just think about it...
Willy-nilly about real change....
Accountability starts with the "other guy" because it's too risky...
This disenfranchises the liberals from the Democratic Party because it's these liberals that seek to reform and change the course we are on. But because course correction is far too challenging and risky for the centrists of the Party, the Liberals are gonna leave the Party all together because of the shift the party is making to the right. Thus, a third party President looks promising and all but what it does is cement the GOP standing among their base to elect another Republican President.
It is a sad time for America and those in power who can actually affect the outcome instead prefer to play it safe and go along so as to get along and not seem to rock the boat.
Pathetically sad!
