The list of state Democratic Parties that have passed resolutions urging impeachment of Bush and Cheney has just grown to 15. Meanwhile, 11 state legislatures have introduced such resolutions, which have now been passed by at least 77 cities and towns and a growing list of labor unions and other organizations. These resolutions are all listed at http://impeachpac.org/resolutions-list

Let's see...

at the present rate of co-signing to HR 333, we should have 30 co-signers by Thanksgiving. Then what?

As long as Pelosi and Conyers remain steadfast on the sidelines, HR 333 is a dead letter.

I think it's time to pick up the pace, ladies and gentlemen MsOC. Clearly, Cheney is more of a problem than Agnew was. But only the Dem leadership is making Cheney an insurmountable one.

We need real investigations now. MOC Nadler, what say you?

Not until the Repubs start signing on to HR 333 will we have meaningful movement on the bloodthirsty Cheney. And Repubs won't move without damning testimony from authentic, critical investigations.

Hoping for snow before thanksgiving...

'at the present rate of co-signing to HR 333, we should have 30 co-signers by Thanksgiving. Then what?'

You're right! We can't go on at the present rate! I believe that once the subject enters the public dialogue, it will really snowball. The thing that really blows my mind is how completely this subject has been squelched in the news!

Olbermann was being interviewed not too long ago by Brian Lamb, he was asked why he quit his job at MSNBC originally. The response was that he had done 286 consecutive shows dealing with impeaching Clinton, and he didn't want to get 'typecast' into being a one-trick pony. The network wouldn't let him move off topic, so he left the network (and has since come back)

In contrast, David Swanson has written that he's been unable to get anybody to poll the impeachment question- even for cash!

I think we really need to look at this, why they were so successful with the media saturation, and why we have been so unsuccessful! When we can answer this question, we are well on the way. Until we can answer this question, we are spinning our wheels.

I think you're dead right about the republicans- everybody is focusing on the democrats, but I believe that the REPUBLICANS are the ones we need on board- the democrats at that point won't need much in the line of persuasion.

Impeachment of Dick Cheney

I faxed my thanks to Congresswoman Woolsey yesterday for showing courage by signing onto the Articles of Impeachment, I'll do the same today to Congresswoman Lee.

Unfortunately, all hangs on Speaker Pelosi to put this "on the table" and to date, she has not shown the courage to put our Constitution first and her political job second.

All of us that are behind Impeachment should not hesitate to contact our Senators/Congressmen and DEMAND that they do the job they were hired to do. Do this repeatedly....inundate them with e-mails, faxes or calls.

Remind them they were hired to do the PEOPLE's bidding, not the Presidents. They are OUR employees, and their employment hangs on whether WE feel they are doing a good job for US.

Pelosi's bosses won't allow it

The corporatists will never allow Bush to be impeached. He is their boy and they are raking in billions with him in office. Pelosi and the rest of the Congressional leadership have to do the bidding of their corporate masters.

Pelosi is my rep and she seems more interested in not making waves than doing what's right. I hope we can toss her out of office next year and replace her with someone that actually believes in protecting and defend ing our constitution.

Our Rep Signed H.Res. 333 to Impeach Cheney

How 3 Activists, 1 Minister, & 1 Administrator Helped a House Rep. Sign H. Res. 333

Here is the process that culminated in our Rep. making the call to cosponsor the bill to impeach Cheney!

1 - I went to DC to see my new Rep.Yvette Clarke, sworn in the first week of 2007. Had never met her, but I hung out in her office and met her supporters, staff, campaign advisors. Went into the celebration room in the Capitol where we saw her cermonial sweraing-in. I introduced myself as a constituent interested in participatory democracy. Networked. Met her scheduler.

2 - Back home, I called her scheduler, trying to set up a meeting. In late Feb. the scheduler agreed, and asked if the Rep. could come to MY home. I set up a meeting with 35 people, including 3 Christian ministers I know (I work part-time in a church and have met some liberal clergy), a couple of people who have run for local office, a couple business owners and just neighborhood folks.

3 - With just 2 other activists in my neighborhood, we had multiple weekly lobbying contacts with her office focused on the Lee bill, all the Iraq Supplemental votes, and Impeachment, esp. after H. Res. 333 came up (in the form of emails and calls).

4 - Meanwhile we periodically emailed all who had attended the Feb. meeting, apprised of our contacts with her and encouraged them to lobby her during crucial vote times. Some of those folks did.

5 - One of the ministers we kept in the loop turned out to know the Congresswoman, and was also quite concerned about the Iraq moral crisis, the constitutional crisis, and the gathering of political power almost exclusively in the Unitary Executive branch. We spoke at some length, and we set up a meeting in Washington to meet with her and her Chief of Staff.

6 - We prepared a 45-page packet for Clarke including our agenda for the meeting, letters from 5 other clergy, urging her to take the lead on peace and accountability issues, plus extensive documentation on our issues; i.e., Supplementals, Oil Benchmarks, Unitary Executive powers, and H.Res. 333 for Impeaching Cheney. (Three of us local grassroots activists had researched and prepared this packet over several months.)

7 - At the end of the meeting her Chief of Staff had another staffer call Kucinich's office in our presence to officially sign on to the bill! All in all there were only 4 constituents at the meeting, and we got her attention for about 40 minutes.
We have plans to continue our in-district netorking with other faith-based groups and keep building on this relationship with our Representative, continuing to advocate for peace and accountability and impeachment.

We also will share our experience with folks (from liberal groups, faith-based groups or wherever we find them) in nearby districts, recruit them to do their version what we've done, only with their Reps, and go to Washington en masse to go visit each Rep's office in Brooklyn advocating for peace and impeachment.
Anyone from Brooklyn who is called to get in on this kind of advocacy, please contact us. We are serious about this but also have some laughs together, and it is satisfying to get some results once in awhile!

Way to go!

What an inspiring story! This is a real inspiration! This morning, I'm actually feeling positive for the first time in years!

Keep up the great work!

M.H.Drysdale

Thx Drysdale - keep the faith!

I appreciate your comment and am so glad it results in positive feelings for you. We will keep up our work and our faith and we want all youse guys to, also!

One of my main conclusions is that you can't pay attention to what people say to you about the likelihood of success. (It'll never happen! How will you get a meeting?! They don't have the votes! etc., etc.,) Well, all those negative thoughts may come true, but there's a CHANCE they won't if you don't pay them no mind.

When I went to Clarke's swearing-in in January I had no idea if I'd ever be able to get close to her and her staff in person. It's called just vamping with a positive attitude. . .

best to you M. Drysdale. . .

T.Powers

You and your small group have really shown what can be accomplished with faith and determination! (okay, the organization, networking, research and perseverance helped, too!)

Keep vampin' the (+) vibe! smiles are contagious!

Congress

So far it looks like we only have seven members of Congress who are worthy of reelection. We should support them, and we should do everything in our power to remove from public office every single one of those bastards that just gave Bush the money for his illegal, and obscene war. People who pay the bills for Bush's butchery, and give him more money to continue, are criminals as well. If you vote for any of these people, the blood is on your hands also.
What we have here is the needless killing of over a half million people and a threat to our democracy, and American way of life. Some morons in our Congress have suggested that we need more investigations. Investigations, are you out of your mind! The crimes committed by this administration are something that has never happened before in our history. The Supreme Court has already found Bush guilty of a felony with his illegal spy program. We have all the evidence that we need to impeach. All we need is a Congress who is willing to uphold the law, do their duty, and meet their responsibilities. The Bush Administration could be removed, with the snap of a finger.

We had members of Congress who were moving in a good direction. Conyers and others were doing a good job, before Nancy Pelosi landed in Washington on her broom stick. That women has intimated, bribed, and threatened liberal democrats into submission. I can not understand what this women's motivations are. Is she just that stupid? Does she secretly work for George Bush? She surly doesn't represent the Democrat's interests. As she continues, the Democratic party seems to be going, going, and by next election it will be gone. May be she is working for a third party. Destroying the Democrats, will give someone else a chance.

What ever the games are that they are playing in Washington, the killing goes on, our Treasury is being depleted, and our image as good people in the eyes of the world is going down the toilet.

Agreed

The people of her district should make it absolutely clear to Nancy Pelosi that she will soon be finished with her career in Congress if she does not PUT IMPEACHMENT ON THE TABLE.

Pelosi and her ilk are systematically destroying the United States by letting Bush get away with all his crimes. What are they thinking? They have neither morals, values nor intelligence.

If Bush/Cheney are not impeached, Nancy needs to go.

Member of Congress Mental Reservations: Prosecute them and VP

Congress refuses to impeach. Time for the State AG's to prosecute a sitting VP and President. Talk to Law Prof Jonathan Turley at Georgetown how this can be done.

Evidence: Members of Congress blocking efforts of states to pass impeachmen proclamations. Evidence of 5 USC 3331 volations -- taking efforts to block defense of the Constitution; and not faithfully discharging duties; continuing to have a mental reservation about their oath.
