Rep. Wexler Will Urge the Judiciary Committee to Hold Immediate Hearings on Impeachment!!!

As a person who supports holding this Administration accountable for their deceptive actions, you may be interested to know about the recent votes in the House regarding H.Res. 333, "Impeaching Richard B. Cheney, Vice President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors."
I share your belief that Vice President Cheney must answer for his deceptive actions in office, particularly with regard to the preparations for the Iraq war and the revelation of the identity of covert agent Valerie Plame Wilson as part of political retribution against her husband. That is why I voted against the motion to table debate on H.Res. 333. Along with only 85 other Democrats, I opposed tabling the measure and supported beginning immediate debate and a vote on the Cheney impeachment resolution. The vote on tabling the Kucinich resolution was rejected, and the House subsequently voted to refer the matter to the Judiciary Committee.
Vice President Dick Cheney and the Bush Administration have demonstrated a consistent pattern of abusing the law and misleading Congress and the American people. We see the consequences of these actions abroad in Iraq and at home through the violations of our civil liberties. The American people are served well with a legitimate and thorough impeachment inquiry. I will urge the Judiciary Committee to schedule impeachment hearings immediately and not let this issue languish as it has over the last six months. Only through hearings can we bring begin to correct the abuses of Dick Cheney and the Bush Administration; and, if it is determined in these hearings that Vice President Cheney has committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors, he should be impeached and removed from office. It is time for Congress to expose the multitude of misdeeds of the Administration, and I am hopeful that the Judiciary Committee will expeditiously begin an investigation of this matter.

Finally, some bona fide positive news!
As a Canadian whom lived in the USA temporarily on an exchange, from 2001 to 2005, I became intimately aware of the actions of the Bush regime during that period. These actions bothered me greatly then, and I continue to hold this view to this day. I feel so strongly for my friends that have endured this 'torture' since the scam election in 2000.
Hence, it is so refreshing to read from Canada that someone such as Robert Wexler will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Dennis Kucinich, and attempt to start to formally reign in the Bush regime. Maybe the idiom 'all good things come to those who wait' will win the day on this matter?
Thank you Robert and Dennis (and David Swanson) for continuing to provide hope on this oh-so complicated matter!

Bob Wexler is my congressman. He’s a good guy and I agree with him --his stances on important issues, how he votes, the bills he sponsors--99.9% of the time. People en masse are going to have to let the Judiciary Committee chairman and their respective representatives know that they strongly favor impeachment.
BTW-- I believe a poster above was in error when stating that the GOPers sent the House Resolution to committee. They wanted it brought immediately to the floor for debate but they voted against sending it on for further consideration to Judiciary.

I mean no offence either,but here I just had to say that the above stated opinion is how a majority of the people feel in America .It is the reason most of nonvoters who can vote don't. They don't believe it will do anygood at all! I also hope I am wrong- but I second that awareness of having garbage smoke blowed up our asses! The sad part of it is that we want according to the media to see and hear about Brittany Spears and O.fucking J Simpson has the domanat news stories. (OH now thats really important!)The only importance it has for me is the fact that it shows how justice can go to the highest bidder.

Congressionl action is no substitute for action by a grand jury that is aware of its power and duty. Along with the power to exclude all government manipulators, a grand jury has the constitutionnal power to investigate and issue a presentment ordering that an indictment be drawn.

To The Honorable John Conyers,
There is a rumor circulating that your chairmanship has been threatened. One would tend to believe this as the American people cannot understand why you would fold on the Cheney Impeachment proceedings which was presented by Senator Dennis Kucinich this week. We the people are disappointed and disgusted with
the way our Constitution is being dismantled and spat upon. This evil, corrupt and vile administration is taking our Nation on the fast track to Fascism. The 110th Congress was elected into office to do what needed to be done.
Our collective jaws dropped open when Ms. Pelosi said that "impeachment was off the table."
It is the obligation of Congress to impeach Cheney and Bush. These two should also be arrested and prosecuted.
To read that Congress is too busy to go ahead with impeachment is like saying that the doctor has to deal with the ingrown toe nail and put the cancer treatment on the back burner. Cheney's approval rating is nine percent;
Doesn't that tell you what the people that voted this Congress into office want them to do? Dick Cheney and his cronies are a malignancy.
Enough is enough. This once great Nation is in grave danger and the ones that have the power must use it and use it now!
