I spoke with Congressman Dennis Kucinich because a rumor was gaining traction that:
"Before the Nevada primary, Dennis was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — AIPAC. They told Dennis that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives. Kucinich threw them out of his office."
According to Kucinich, "The incident did not happen."
I find the Congressman's denial of the incident entirely credible. The rumor was supposedly based on the word of someone high up in his presidential campaign. But there is nobody who fits that description other than the Congressman or his wife. And campaign staff are not typically in congressional offices where congress members are forbidden to work on campaigns. It is doubtful that if such an incident had occurred, any campaign staff would have seen it or been told about it. It is also doubtful it would have occured. Pelosi's office would not bring AIPAC along or vice versa. And AIPAC has long known that Kucinich doesn't give a damn what they think. Also, Kucinich would never throw Pelosi or her "representative" out of his office.
The rumor caught on, I think, because Kucinich had planned to introduce articles of impeachment against Bush on the day of the State of the Union and then changed his mind. He did so because of the attacks he is under in his primary election in Cleveland, where the corporate media that has long opposed him paints national issues as in conflict with providing services to constituents. The election will consume Kucinich's time for the next few weeks, but he has not dropped his plans to eventually introduce the articles of impeachment. He has not withdrawn his resolution to impeach the Vice President. He has not dropped his opposition to the occupation of Iraq.
Of course, Pelosi opposes impeachment. But she usually delegates her thuggery to members of her leadership team. She and her team would no doubt prefer to replace Kucinich with a DLC-style corporate Democrat, even though such a candidate might lose the general election. And there is every reason to believe that AIPAC feels the same way. I would not be at all surprised if a list of AIPAC's biggest donors and a list of donors to the campaign of Kucinich's most heavily funded challenger, Joe Cimperman, had some names in common. AIPAC would never be satisfied with a mere 400 or so loyal congress members. It would want to shutdown any opposition to the current U.S. policy in the Middle East, and it would want to protect Dick Cheney.
But I believe Kucinich's denial that the rumored incident took place.
I also believe that the U.S. Congress would be a much worse place without Kucinich in it, and I encourage everyone to support his reelection campaign right away at http://kucinich.us

AIPAC
I think it is a little unfair to begin making comments about AIPAC over an incident that has not even been substantiated. Of course this is false. It is just an attempt by someone who is anti-semitic to vilify AIPAC. And you guys fell for it...immediately jumping over to making insinuations about the only other hugely public Jewish figure you could think of - Joe Lieberman. Yeah, I am sure that AIPAC spends its time sending out delegates to threaten Kucinich. You even concede that it is probably fabricated yet this does not prevent you from getting some jabs in about AIPAC and Lieberman. Offensive.

Exactly who are you talking about? I think it's a little unfair to criticize an article without reading the damn thing first.
This article is informing us that it did NOT happen, not that it's 'probably fabricated'. It's not an anti-semitic anything, it's just letting us know that Mr. Kucinich himself has already stated that it didn't happen.
I also find it terribly odd that you bring Joe into this. Lieberman is not mentioned anywhere in this article or in any of the comments that followed (well, except yours). Exactly what drugs are you taking these days?
AIPAC
Congressman Kucinich DENIED that the incident occurred. That should end the story. And it is obscene and an intellectual folly to raise the issue of anti-semitism whenever AIPAC is mentioned negatively. Most informed Americans, and there are far too few, know that AIPAC is perhaps the most powerful lobby in Washington, D.C. Its efforts are mighty and largely successful, with major financial assistance from Jewish sources who have for far too many years demonstrated their allegiance to Israel before America. Until the American government confronts the imbalance that exists in its policies toward Israel and the Palestinians there can be no viable peace in the Middle East. Israel deserves to exist and so does an independent Palestine.
Read before you leap
I have no disagreement with any of your new statements, in fact, I wholeheartedly agree with most of them. What grabbed my attention in your first comment is the fact that they have nothing to do with this particular article confirming a story that never happened.
If your rant was aimed at the writer's readers, you should have indicated that before you begin ranting.
Bottom Line:
If you wish to make known to all what you have to say, don't hijack someone else's story by injecting accusations about what others have said (i.e. "Joe Lieberman" & "getting some jabs in about AIPAC"). Instead, make a real statement by writing your own story and posting it where the rest of us can read it IN CONTEXT and unfettered by association. It will also give you a chance to link back to this writer's story and show him some love for helping to bring out the truth.
Opposition to AIPAC not anti-Semitcic
Opposition to AIPAC is not anti-semitic. As an American it is a wise and patriotic position to take.
AIPAC is interested only in advancing the interests of another country, often at the expense of the USA. AIPAC has been known to harbor and encourage spying against the USA. AIPAC encouraged USA politicians to support the Iraq War. AIPAC is dangerous as it operates as an agent for foreign country but is given immunity from Foreign Agent Registration Act. AIPAC may be at the heart of the "taking impeachment off the table" because an impeachment of Bush could lead to very embarrassing and dangerous testimony against Israel regarding 9-11 and Iraq War.

This is a hoax and has been disproven:

pelosi and aipac
kucinich is the man he is about change real change I guess thats why he was so marginalized in the media so he couldnt get his message out to the ppl I hold him in high esteem A real man of the people and if he did put his boot in pelosie's ass and kicked her out his office his esteem would be even higher boot out the bush bootlickers
small correction
Kucinich did not cite his local race as the reason he delayed submitting new articles of impeachment last month.
He did so out of respect for the Judiciary Committee members who are demanding that his last submission be acted upon.

Kucinich's failure to get much exposure in the media, even though most Americans now hold the same views as he does on most issues, was pretty disgusting. And I personally have no doubt that AIPAC would want to prevent impeachment of Cheney/Bush, since such a process would soon reveal AIPAC's role in bringing about the Iraq war -- and that would be a disaster for that organization.
