Isn't it odd that just when New York Governor Elliott Spitzer has introduced the RHAPP Bill -- the Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act -- which guarantees women the right to choose or refuse birth control and abortion, he is simultaneously the subject of a highly publicized sex sting that threatens to destroy his career and possibly send him to prison?
Surely, what Spitzer is accused of -- an interstate tryst with an expensive prostitute -- is egregious for a family man and a high ranking public servant. Nonetheless, it's striking that the Governor comes under attack NOW when he's proposing the country's most comprehensive protection for women.
Spitzer's RHAPP Bill is highly controversial and the blatant target of the Catholic Church and anti-abortion groups nationwide. These groups are relentless in their efforts to thwart a woman's right to choose. Anti-abortion proponents have murdered doctors and bombed clinics. Some have committed heinous acts of domestic terrorism -- yet because the current administration shares their ideology, anti-abortionists, as a group, are publicly supported. At their anti-abortion rallies, loudspeakers broadcast well wishes from the President of the United States.
Elliott Spitzer "may" have committed an act that is shameful for a husband and a father, but how many other politicians and powerful leaders are guilty of the same? The only difference may be that those other leaders aren't launching sweeping legislation to protect the rights of women, and in so doing, mobilizing the powerful and vengeful forces of the conservative religious right.
As reported this morning by Amy Goodman on "Democracy Now!," Governor Spitzer was scheduled to deliver a major address yesterday morning in Albany, New York, on the issue of women's reproductive rights. One thousand people were awaiting the Governor's address when the news of his sexual liaison broke. Governor Spitzer abandoned his women's rights speech to defend his own rights instead. He had no choice.
Timing is everything -- or so it is said.

Spitzer if the rest of the country didn't know seemed at first to be a crusader for justice as the New York State Attorney General.
He had racked an impressive array convictions and got many corporations to pay hefty fines for violations
He was also known by the company he kept, ahem. Previously it was the Morgenthal cronies.
What he did when elected Govenor was to STAMPEDE his policies. Now given the humungo corruption of New York State, this would seem at first like a move to finally get the State House in order. Many people prayed it would be thus.
However, it seemed that he wanted to expand the role of Homeland Security (an outright joke - a national pox upon this great nation), and of course he crammed down the throats, the Drivers Lisense for Illegal Aliens policies which thank the Lord Almighty went down in flames to huge opposition. [AAA has been issuing International Driver's lisences for years for any member when traveling abroad - Spitzer policy was an Amnesty]
What is notable is his attempt at getting some kind of conviction on State politician Bruno. This remarkably backfired. Spitzer with his long case load of convictions seemed unbeatable. Bruno managed to relate to the courts and to the press that the Governor's case was PURE political in motivation. Just remarkable.
So if you woud like a culprit, you have State's rights Loyalists thru out the nation who wouldve helped out to get Mr. Drivers Lisense for Illegal aliens out of the picture, not alone Mr. Bruno and HIS VARIOUS associates. Do you realize that Chertoff nest of operations is New York State? Believe me good men everywhere know it.
The uncanny thing is this, and it is so uncanny. Man it is so uncanny. The Italian faction of State Government in the face of the Governor Spitzer/Chertoff onslaught came across as being indebtedly fervently pro US Constitution. I thought my goodness I have seen it all!

Man, they looked golden. Man they stood up to be US Patriots, you should've seen it.
Spitzer is in utter shock. I mean look at his face. He has been pulled out of his life's ambition and is now a lame duck Governor.
But know this, in a room full of very sleazy politicians that the entire state of New York finds and holds in contempt on a daily and hourly basis the whole lot of them, NY State is state of crooks and liars, Spitzer though went full boar. Behind him all the way: CHERTOFF.
