Kennedy Says Bush Guilty of "One of the Most Outrageous Abuses of Executive Power in Our Nation’s History"
Senator Edward M. Kennedy released the following statement in response to President Bush’s remarks on FISA this morning.
“Once again, the President continues to try to bully the Congress and mislead the American people on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. He refuses to accept that under our system of government, neither the President nor the telecommunications companies gets to decide which laws to follow and which to ignore.
The President wants Congress to pretend that his administration did not conduct a massive, illegal, domestic warrantless surveillance program that was one of the most outrageous abuses of executive power in our nation’s history. Rather than accuse Congress of playing politics, the President should stop playing politics with our national security. He is the one who has repeatedly blocked extension of the law, insisting that the phone companies must be protected, even though he claims that American lives are at risk.
President Bush could not be clearer: his number one priority is that Congress sweep his administration’s illegal activity under the rug. Congress must reject this outrageous demand.”
SO ARE YOU FOR IMPEACHMENT AND FILIBUSTERING THE WAR FUNDING, OR ARE YOU FOR RHETORIC, SENATOR?

Is that the entire statement, David?
If so, I'd say Ted favors the rhetoric.
Put your money where your mouth is, Senator, or accept responsibility for ignoring your oath and enabling Bush's abuse of power.

Overlooking a Crime?
LAWBREAKERS, no matter WHO they are, anywhere in America, a nation of laws, respectful of "the rule of law", are usually be brought to justice for their crimes and misdeeds, if they're caught. IF something was "illegal", and somebody like the Honorable Senator Ted Kennedy is calling it "illegal", then let's bring the lawbreaker to justice. A Federal District Court already ruled that President Bush's warrantless "wiretapping program" was not only "illegal", but "unconstitutional" as well. Looks like Ted forgot to complete his statement by NOT calling for impeachment hearings, unless, of course, Ted just forgot his follow up. Might be old age catching up with him.
Kennedy talks the talk
I really hope they have a game plan in play to rebuff the president, otherwise saying it's just talk is accurate.
It's like some bizzaro court case, they can't get anything on the President or the Vice President, when it was clearly obvious that Governor Spitzer by being associated with a Prositution ring for 6 years was in fact guilty of something. (and there are others...)
Starting illegal wars, and so many other crimes that are totally in our faces, how is it that he hasn't been arrested.
I do like the fact they are rebuffing in public discourse. If you remember but a few years ago, it was a ghost town of any dissenting opinions.
Did you see the look in Condi Rice's eyes the other day when she testified. You know what.... she got the message - "War Criminal". Frightened, and she should be.
Carlyle Group declares they are belly up. Daddy Bush has no bail or bond money left. It takes outright millions (lawyers at this level) to defend one's self.
It's coming, believe me the hour of truth is coming.
The news is now completely spin, it such outright spin 24/7. 4,000 soldiers dead and only dead end progress in Iraq. They spin, they lie, they profit, they prosletyze. This country is sick to it's stomach.
I tell you, the sheer weight won't allow this to continue to the conventions. The sheer weight that the dollar is worth about 26.5 cents to the Euro is beating upon the brow of this country's children and their futures.
War criminals do you realize that your vast savings are worth 1/4 of what they were. What happens next week, or the following one?
Upholding international law as well
Where is kennedy when the bush administration
has repeatedly and with deadly results violated
international law.
To wit, did Condoleeza Rice knowingly violate
international law by handing over Saddam, Barzan,
Bandar, and Ramadan to their enemies? A resounding
Yes. War crimes ARE high crimes. IMPEACH AND INDICT.
Kennedy, like the rest, is just going "on record"...
... so later he can say he was always against this administration. He's covering his bases like they all do.
History will remember this congress as war-crime enablers and sympathisers. If not outright co-conspirators to the most criminal administration in our history.
That's true
If Bush and the telecom companies have been doing something illegal, let's bring them to justice. First call for article of impeachment for the Bush/Cheney cabal.

Covering the Kennedy Butt Near Election Times
The gall of Kennedy is galling. What about 9/11 being an inside job. What about the 935 lies that led America into an illegal war. What about the illegal use of torture, a violation of the Geneva Conventions. What about the false imprisonment of non terrorists accused of being terrorists at Guantanamo. What about the victims of Katrina. What about the two rigged elections that placed the abuser of executive power in the White House. These are some of the serious abuses of executive power that Bush has engaged in, of which we the people are aware of.
Read on Mr Kennedy
"Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today."
-Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)
Mr Kennedy, you and your ilk have had years of today's in which you have failed to do anything and years of tomorrows have produced nothing either.
Mr Kennedy, go forth and multiply with yourself. Hollow rhetoric nearing election times is seen for what it is. Your covering your pay check Mr Kennedy, not checking the abuse of executive power.
