Dissent Is Your Duty:
Thank you David Swanson.
This is powerful, and so true.
The solution for so many sensitive and conscientious souls has been to simply turn off the news-- too painful, other personal matters more pressing.
But what could possibly be more pressing than dissenting the actions of our elected warmongers, who do their horrors with our hard-earned funds.
If we fail to dissent, then we are by default complicit.
Dissent is powerful if powered by mass action, as has worked in the past. But even if in the end resistance is futile, we have no reasonable choice but to regularly register our rejection of the horrific militarism of our illegal national invasions.
"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." -- Elie Wiesel

Wanted to send this out but only get the first 56 seconds. Read it earlier, but hearing spoken might help others who don't read much. Am gathering from Natureboy's comment that whole essay was read. Anyone have any ideas why I only get the first minute? Thanks in advance.
Iranian Americans
Hi everyone.
I'm a progressive democrat, and also an Iranian-American. I'll do all I can to spread the word about the urgency of this horrible matter. I am working on a simple website, and when I'm done with it, I will link it in afterdowningstreet.
It's not only some Americans who are indifferent. It's also many Iranian Americans here in U.S., who though they adore their ancient land, they are not doing anything to make a radical change. Maybe only a rally or two at the Federal Building in L.A., but that's about it. I truly hope that the Obama message of self-efficiency and individual grass root start-ups will catch on to everyone. I know that Congressman Kucinich and Obama can make incredible policies if they work together.
I'm also a christian, and I believe in miracles. Maybe that's what it would take to uproot the Cheneys in this country. Even if that miracle would be people snapping out of their apathy. It's always been a big day dream of mine to have Dick Cheney et al's conversations be secretly taped and then exposed. Like the one Nixon [or Johnson] said about the troops dying in Vietnam? "The hell with them!"
Don't recall that
Which one?
