Woolsey and Waters Completely Lose Their Senses After Exposure to IMMINENT ELECTION MADNESS

Out of Iraq Caucus Members Step Up to Defend Clinton
By FOXNews.com

Sixteen Democratic members of the Out of Iraq Caucus stepped up to defend Hillary Clinton’s record on the Iraq war, issuing an open letter Tuesday asserting Clinton is the ideal candidate to bring the war to a “responsible” end.

The letter came after Clinton accused Barack Obama, her Democratic presidential primary opponent, and John McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee, of pursuing flawed approaches to managing the forces in Iraq. The New York senator followed that up with a “bringing our troops home” campaign event Tuesday, where she was flanked by Bush administration critic Joseph Wilson and his wife, outed CIA agent Valerie Plame.

“We believe there is no higher priority for the next president of the United States than ending this war, and we believe there is no one better prepared and more committed to bringing this war to a responsible conclusion than Hillary Clinton,” Clinton’s congressional supporters said in the letter.

The authors — including Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, California Rep. Lynn Woolsey and California Rep. Maxine Waters — claimed Clinton offered the most comprehensive strategy for Iraq and had stiffly challenged the Pentagon to plan for troop withdrawals.

“We support Hillary Clinton because she is the candidate with the stature, strength, and experience needed to end this war as quickly and responsibly as possible,” the caucus members wrote.

Clinton on Tuesday said a well-planned troop withdrawal is the only path to a political solution in Iraq. She was preceded by endorsements from Wilson and Plame, who said that after years of “character assassination,” she learned from Clinton that their fight wasn’t about them but how to conduct the debate and find the leadership to get the U.S. out of Iraq.

In her speech Monday, Clinton claimed McCain would just prolong President Bush’s strategy for as long as “100 years.” She said Obama only followed through on his 2002 speech opposing the war in Iraq when he started to run for president, and that his commitment to swiftly bringing the troops home is uncertain.

In response, Obama said Monday that it’s “not enough to stand up and say you’re ready on day one, you need to be right on day one.” He said Clinton voted to authorize war and so has lost the authority to complain about its execution.

I live in Woolsey's

I live in Woolsey's district. She's a Clinton delegate, even though our district overwhelmingly went for Obama.

Woolsey's heart's in the right place, and she's certainly better than a lot of other representatives, but I frankly don't think she or her staff really scrutinize these issues to the extent that I'd like to hope they would.

Case in point: Even though she did not vote for/against HR1955, because she was unavailable to vote, she told me she would have wholeheartedly voted for it. Her reasons? (1) "We can greatly benefit from learning how other countries have responded to [the] problems [of homegrown terrorism];" and (2) "It is essential that we provide adequate funds directed towards improving the safety and security of our ports."

HR 1955 is not about other countries' responses to domestic terrorism, and we already have special units within at least a couple of our 16 spy agencies that are successfully looking into the problems in Europe and whether those problems could arise here. HR 1955 provides no mechanism for port security funding.

So it seems as if she and her staff didn't actually read the bill, but rather took the word and encouragement of its cosponsors

2nd case in point: She voted in support of HR 811, because, as she told me, it would provide for the purchasing of computer printers to provide voters with a paper printout of how they believed their votes were recorded within an electronic voting machine. Neither she nor her staff seemed to grasp that the program inside the machine could be programmed to record votes differently than it indicated to have done in a computer printout.

I seriously don't think very many representatives read these bills before going with them.

Got it Roxie,

here in Richmond. It does seem to me that our Reps don't get it or worse pretend not to get it. My rep, Bobby Scott answered an impeachment question with something like "Well, if we impeach Bush we get Cheney." As a long time member of the Judiciary Committee, he KNOWS that articles currently in committee are only of Cheney. Who knows how many people know what we know. The congressman certainly knows.

These people do not care about America

If they really cared about America, they would stop endorsing candidates and honor their oath of office and impeach the criminals in the White House. Wilson and Plame did a good thing -- inadvertently, no doubt. The "OUT OF IRAQ Caucus" needs to get off their asses, stop this foolishness and end the funding of the war. Then they need to impeach the criminals who started it.

They won't do that and our country will continue on the road to fascism. The politicians will not save us. I am just sick today!
