May Day!
May 1st is shaping up to be quite a day of resistance, with strikes by the ILWU, the Teamsters, Postal Workers, plus immigrant rights rallies, and peace and impeachment activities. It's Mission Accomplished Day (5 Years!) It's Downing Street Minutes Day (3 Years!) It's May Day, the original Labor Day (122 Years!) If you care about the future of our republic, we encourage you to visit your congress member's nearest office at high noon, local time, on May 1st, and ask for impeachment hearings for the Vice President for Torture, Dick Cheney. Let us know you plan to do it, and find others to do it with you at http://democrats.com/mayday

Protesting
I truly wish there could be a nationally led, well attended gathering at one time. However, on May 2nd, here in Tulsa, OK, Dick Cheney is attending a state GOP convention where we plan to cause quite a ruckus. I'm not sure how efficient we would be at trying to organize something the day before as well. But what a great idea! Would love to see all the ports and post offices shut down with lots of protestors outside!
May First
Yes! I will go to the nearest office of my elected representatives at noon on this day. Thank you, David Swanson, for pulling this protest together --and for all you do in speaking truth to power.
In gratitude,

Impeach Now....before they create the next 911
We the people of conscience, need to wake the sheeple up. They are already orchestrating martial law and implementing bills that have all but destroyed the constitution... We the people must act and act now.
Solidarity
There is nothing more powerful than stepping up to support the efforts of others already in place instead of reinventing the wheel repeatedly.
If you build it, we will come.
May 1st. Shut down the nation.
Wally Herger at High Noon on May Day. Count me in!
David,
Count me in. I will be at Congressman Wally Herger's (Rep. 2nd District) office on May 1st at high noon. I will also check in with our local peace and justice center to see what they have planned. The message is: Impeach or We the People will go on strike!
A reminder for everyone to sign the Peoples Warrant for the arrest of Bush, Cheney, et al., at http://www.wtpnet.org/phpPETITION/index.php

Support the Second Constitutional Convention!
Picket Line Around The Capitol-One Million Plus
House Speaker "Off The Table" Nancy Pelosi (shame forever) has already ordered her 110th Democratic Congress to "play it safe" so they can win big again and have something to run against just like they did in '06.
Trying to talk to these pansies in their offices won't do any good, just a complete waste of time, they're going to play it "deaf and dumb" all the way to the '08 elections.
May 1st, it's "Law Day", can be a day to restore our Constitution and uphold "the rule of law" for the American people by setting up and maintaining throughout the day a living, breathing, peaceful, walking picket line of humanity, a million plus strong, all the way around the Capitol building itself, signs, speeches, and dissension in all her American glory, demanding that this Republican controlled 110th Democratic Congress (think filibusters, vetoes, no accountability, no truth, no impeachment, no checks and balances) simply perform their constitutional sworn duties.
That's not too much to ask for before walking into a voting booth.
I think it's true
Off the table Nancy controls the Congress and the other Dumocrats around the country. Talking to them is good exercise if you have the time. I don't oppose it, but I don't think it will change what they do about impeachment. Even our dear Dennis appears to have lost his voice. Meanwhile we are just one more false flag terrorist attack from disaster.
What we have now is the blind leading the blind. If you've read the Bible, you know where such people end up.
I am so happy about the young people who are standing up at this time and seeing the danger to themselves and their fellow citizens.

speaking about Nancy Pelosi
There is something truly phenomenal going on in San Francisco. A
political novice by the name of Shirley Golub has the Speaker of the
House, Nancy Pelosi, running scared, afraid that if she agrees to
debate the challenger she will not be able to defend her record of
capitulation, afraid the voters of the 8th congressional district
will no longer make excuses for political cowardice . . . just
afraid.
And that's exactly the way Shirley Golub called it last week, when
she called Nancy Pelosi out for being a political coward, using those
exact words. Listen to the radio ad they are all talking about for
yourself.

May 1st Day of Resistance
I'm not sure it's soon enough - we have to STOP THE FUNDING, particularly now that Murtha is not only going to let the Bush appropriation out of committee, but also wants to add on $80 billion for 2009, so the Democratic president won't have to honor his or her commitment to end the war immediately upon getting into office.
I say start Monday, and build a 24-hour a day, all congressional district resistance, culminating on May 1, but starting now and continuing if need be.
If we do this, we have to have ONE MESSAGE: Stop Funding War, Fully Funded Withdrawal Only.
IF YOU LOVE YOUR COUNTRY, SIT DOWN. (at a Congress person's office, and stay there)
We have to let the Dems know that they'll lose us, and the presidency, if they approve and add to this funding.

since many of us do work and can't strike during work hours (well maybe I should just speak for myself, a physician) should we have maybe some solidarity rally around 4-5pm somewhere w/the various local striking workers with us to show not only the largeness of the group wanting impeachment on the table, out of Iraq, rights and fair wages and jobs for workers etc, but also the wide differences in the origins of all the different groups who are coming together around these issues??? just an idea, which is what David asked for!
Excellent idea!
Especially if we could get large numbers at our Congressional offices. I would love to see Rep. Allyson Schwartz's office crammed with angry constituents demanding that she finally do something with her position.

May Day Protest
May Day, one day is not sufficient. Visits to our local congressman's office are not sufficient. We need to go to DC, the seat of this treachery, and in sufficient numbers (one million, two?)and to STAY (weeks, months)until we capture the attention of the media (finally!) and of all decent people, to stay until the madness is fully exposed and brought to an end by our example to the decent people of America and the world. And we must do this before the decent governments of the world decide they can no longer abide our treachery and take less pleasant means to end it.

Herr bush and his gang will call out the tanks and murder Americans.
And Saying That (Fear Mongering) Is Supposed To Do What?
Make us stay home where we think(??) we're safe in our beds behind closed doors that can just as easily be kicked in by a boot-wearing brainwashed-thug thinking we're the bad people in all of this?
Peaceful protest (spreading the word, peacefully) is the answer; it shows the others watching and listening world over clearly who the bad folk in all of this actually are.
It takes a few heads getting knocked around (ours, sadly, if it should come to that) to make the point eventually understood; slowly but surely others come around to seeing the TRUTH just as we have.
-- Tanks? Damn, I hope not.
But hiding behind that closed door keeps matters out of sight out of mind (from others). And that's only 'one method' but an effective means of how those in control (the gangsters) operate, i.e., separate, divide, conquer. It's all about PsyOps, we just need to come to understand that as fact. And it can work both ways.
The VOICE of the people is actually something important (to the people watching and listening) // doing nothing but hiding in the shadows (fear) has a voice all of its own and I would venture to say -- works in their favor (not ours, theirs).

Yes I will go to my congressman's office at noon. I live just outside of Detroit so I have a choice of my congressman Sander Levin or John Conyers. I will go where I think it will do the most good. Duane
May 1st in Portland, Oregon
Visiting congress member's offices at high noon is a great idea. However, here in Portland, it's a very busy day, already. We, Veterans for Peace Chapter 72, are already committed to supporting an ILWU event of spreading coronations on the Willamette River with appropriate ceremony at high noon. Following this we are supporting a Portland State University Cost of War Stragegy Speaking event and at 4:00 P.M. supporting an Immigrant Rights and Labor Rally and March.
We do have a weekly vigil calling for impeachment that forms every Thursday outside of US Congressman Blumenaur's office from noon to 2:00 P.M. However, it will probably be poorly attended on May Day due to so many other events.

May First Day of Action
As a weekly peace vigil chair, and an active supporter of impeachment for all elected officials who have committed crimes against the constitution, I am in full support for a local protest group combining any/all of these issues into an action in front of our senator's local office. Not that Mitch McConnell will be anywhere near here, but local media might be interested in covering such an event. Keep me posted on plans. We have about 10 MoveOn.org members as well who would join this action I am sure. Claudia Hanes chaoticx@insightbb.com in Bowling Green, KY 42103.

I'm done with trying turn the politicians around. Those in office who have consistently refused to hear those who have sent them there need to be replaced. It's a waste of time and energy to continuously knock on a door that won't be answered.
I will be supporting the union members in their efforts to bring this fiasco down. I believe this May Day "strike" is the first real opportunity peace activists have had to bring about change. Those in power have ignored all activist undertakings. They cannot ignore economic consequences. We need to be doing everything we can, and more, to make the strike successful. I have been urging it be more than one day...maybe a week. The economic reality is those who hold power would cave in a short period of time were workers to with-hold their labor. Think Montgomery Bus Boycott.

If Memory Serves...
Back in the early 1930's, there was a wave of general strikes which shut down several major cities, including San Francisco and Minneapolis, for twenty-four hours.
The day-long general strike was one of organized labor's most powerful tools, because it gave workers a huge platform to voice their anger against unemployment, economic injustice and rising food and fuel costs. It was because of these general strikes and willlingness of the American people to declare that if their fellow Americans can't work, they wouldn't work, which galvanized Franklin Roosevelt to run for President and to present a "New Deal" to those "forgotten Americans" who sacrificed their own comfort to demand that their fellow citizens be given meaningful, productive work.
If our fellow Americans were to stop playing the role of "virtuous victims", and actually take concrete action, our talking-head Presidential candidates would see that the American people aren't "victims" who can be easily pacified. A nationwide general strike which lasts for a week might (and I say "might") drive the point home that Americans are mad as hell and they're not going to take playing the role of "virtuous victim" any more.

I would certainly go to Howard Berman's office and support those who can speak for impeachment action, as I have done before. But I think the man is insulated against reason on this subject. He's seemingly an adamant neo-con when it comes to Israel, and only war satisfies his sense of how to solve the Israel-Palestine problem.

How about a MAYDAY for
How about a MAYDAY for CONGRESSIONAL RECALL/CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS? The wretchedly vile thugs who OCCUPY Congress have made it clear that they don't care about legitimacy, patriots or anything this republic is supposed to stand for. They can kiss Bush's sorry ass all they want. I prefer to kick theirs.
