Petraeus to Replace Admiral Fallon Who Called Him an Ass-Kissing Little Chickenshit
AP
WASHINGTON — Army Gen. David Petraeus, the four-star general whose led troops in Iraq for the past year, will be nominated by President Bush to be the next commander of U.S. Central Command, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Wednesday.
Gates also announced that Bush will nominate Army Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno to replace Petraeus in Baghdad.
Central Command oversees the wars in Iraq and in Afghanistan.
If confirmed by the Senate, Petraeus would replace Navy Adm. William Fallon, who abruptly stepped down in March after a magazine reported that he was at odds with President Bush over Iran policy. Fallon said the report, while not true, had become a distraction.
Army Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, currently commander of the Army's 3rd Corps based at Fort Hood, Texas, finished in February a 15-month tour as the top deputy to Petraeus in Baghdad.
Petraeus, 55, is widely hailed by the Bush administration and members of Congress for developing and implementing a new strategy in Iraq, including the deployment of some 30,000 additional troops, that dramatically improved security.
Central Command, whose headquarters is at Tampa, Fla., is responsible for U.S. military operations throughout the Middle East, Central Asia and the Horn of Africa, and thus oversees the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Fallon relinquished the command March 28 to his top deputy, Army Lt. Gen. Martin Dempsey, and retired from the Navy earlier this month.

Fallon bought the nation time
What will happen dear Nation, what will happen when, not if, Patraeus orders an illegal order on behalf of the White House and or Congress.
This country is involved in an illegal war, illegal occupation, and illegal subversion of the laws contained in the US Constitution, and guilty of a vast numbers of war crimes. They have shot people against the wall, in the streets, in their homes, bombed them, and brought low value, and value-less non-target plain civilian prisoners in for torture when clearly such persons had no information what-so-ever. Then they brought in their wifes and childeren and did it to them as well. Hey, do you copy.
It doesn't sound like a viet-nam, it is viet-nam. It is god-less.
there will be a political, and legal backlash to all of this. UNLESS - some form of extrempeous use of force is applied against the law, and international law, against the will of the FREE American People.
It will be asked of ALL officers, ALL servicemen, All Political appointees, All hired outside contractors:
What did you know, when did you know it
The head of the FBI is being questioned today. He pulled the FBI OUT of the torture. He got interviewed first.
White House will refuse to testify. wanna take a bet.
Difference this time: they have all the paperwork and the signed orders from the Cabinet of the White House, the Vice President and the President. All who refuse to testify will be arrested with the full weight of the heavy arm of what is left of the US justice dept. It will be on automatic pilot, laws clearly in violation. They signed their own paper work.
Haven't any of you seen the face of Condi Rice lately, or Ashcroft - they are bugger all scared stiff they are.
They say Rove is yelling at the furniture.
Is there anyone on a aircraft carrier, anyone on a jet fighter, anyone in a ground crew gonna follow an ILLEGAL ORDER. Gonna do it, are you gonna do it.
