McCain violates human rights of indigenous NATIVE AMERICANS here at home...for coal

We all know that John McCain violates the human rights of indigenous peoples of the world in their own native lands under the vile guise of the false "spreadin' democracy" doctrine , primarily to pirate their energy resources. But did you know that McCain does the same thing to Native Americans here at home for coal, in "his" Arizona State of the United States of America, and has been doing this for years? Most Americans do not know that McCain spearheaded this policy of forced relocation, thus resulting in genocide! Please spread this truth from Native Americans to everyone you know:

http://acsa2000.net/cain2004.org/Dine-Navajo-PressRelease.htm

"The ACSA challenges Senator McCain on his legislative history of Human Rights Violations: "a Skeleton in his closet: UNFIT to hold public office!"

(Public Law 93-531 as amended in 1996 (Partition), 1999 (Settlement), 2001 (Enforcement of Resettlement) and 2005 (Expansion of Resettlement) by bills introduced by Senator McCain - has led to the United Nations Special Rapporteur, Hon Abdeltalif Amor's condemnation of human rights violations inside the US, over the stripping of rights and forced resettlement of these gentle and deeply spiritual band of Dineh-Navajo Indians from Arizona, swept off of lands they'd owned since 1500 A.D. so that Peabody Western Coal could mine the Coal from beneath their farmlands and tap their wells to slurry pipe it to a power station in Nevada).

ACSA study reveals that after assembling a team of "pro-Peabody Western Coal" Indians and obtaining a false "Hopi-Navajo" Tribal Counsel designation by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for these paid Tribal representatives, in the period 1974-1996, Senator McCain was able to get large bands of the Dineh-Navajo relocated off their lands, so that Peabody Western could mine the coal under their farms at nominal expense. Common Cause has suggested McCain was indirectly compensated by street name cash contributions to his Federal Election Fund during three Presidential runs, and through family business with Las Vegas Casinos who benefited from the coal driven power he supplied..."

"HOW DID IT HAPPEN HERE ?

Native Americans: Navajo Indians targeted for brutal genocide,
in Arizona, USA ...by Sen. John McCain & a few greedy Senators

SYNOPSIS: To facilitate his special interests, namely: Peabody Western Coal Company (the largest in the US) and the Mohave Generating Facility in Laughlin (operated by Bechtel) delivering low cost electricity to Las Vegas's Casinos, John McCain (a/k/a "Saddam McCain") introduced and arranged for the enforcement of unethical and Constitutionally unlawful legislations which brutally displaced thousands of Navajo farmers onto a Nuclear Waste Dump to live after brutalizing them for two decades in peaceful resistance. McCain assembled (Navajo Resettlement & Navajo Accommodation Agreement, Navajo Settlement, and amendments to PL 93-531, PL S.1003) illegal and unethical enactments designed to force Native American Navajo of the Dineh Band off their Arizona lands, moving them onto Church's Hill in Nevada, depriving them of lands they've owned since 1500 AD.
Using a phony tribal counsel composed of paid stooges, McCain and Peabody Western Coal Company have been progressively stealing and exploiting their lands for mutual personal gain, brutalizing the natives to leave, bulldozing their sacred sites and sweat lodges, beating their members and abusing their elders to the point of terrorizing them and causing health failure and heart failures. Fake Hopi Rangers (BIA Police) arrest and beat any peaceful resistors on their own lands and sacred sites. Three Presidential runs by McCain have been backed by the Mining, Power company and its Nevada Casino clients. McCain's wife has been granted huge Beer distribution contracts at her liquor company by Nevada gaming interests. "...Dineh People in Arizona Undermined by Coal Mining Interests

REGION:

Black Mesa is located in northeastern Arizona and includes the Dineh (Navajo) and Hopi Reservations. The region spans 3,000 sq miles and has a population of 3,000 indigenous people.

CASE STUDY PREPARED BY: The goal of the Sovereign Dineh Nation (SDN) is to ensure that the traditional Dineh are honored, respected and protected, and that they are able to remain on their land and continue their traditional way of life. SDN was founded ten years ago by a Council of Elders, with Roberta Blackgoat, an elder matriarch, the spiritual leader and chairperson of the organization. A SDN New York Support Group was created to interface and advocate for them with various agencies and NGOs. This group identifies institutional frameworks that can be used to combat industrial practices that constitute violations of the Surface Mining Coal Reclamation Act (SMCRA). It helps to facilitate the filing of formal complaints to the UN Commission on Human Rights and other UN forums.

POA.. I'm the person who took Hopi/Navajo to the UN in Geneva, Switzerland and got the UN SubCommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities to appoint two Human Rights experts in 1987 to come to Washington, D.C. and Arizona on the issue of the forced re-location of Hopi/Navajo. I also drafted and filed a formal complaint against the US under Procedure 1503 for racial discrimination against the red race. Professor Erica Daes, Ch. of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Peoples and Judge John Carey, NY State Supreme Court and alternate member of the SubCommission for the US were appointed and came to Washington and Arizona in 1989, submitting their reports to the UN Commission for Human Rights. I made all the appointments and arrangements for Professor Daes' trip and accompanied her and came face to face with Senator John McCain's red faced temper. Peabody Coal Company is one of McCain's top 10 contributors. Thank you for your interest in this situation."

McCain's Personal Genocide?

It appears that Senator John McCain has been systematically engaged in a "genocide" of sorts against the Navajo (Di'neh) People in his home state of Arizona. In order to further the interest of mining companies (Peabody Western and others) he has sponsored and passed laws to forcibly relocate thousands of Di'neh from their ancestral lands on the reservation that was guaranteed to them by Treaty in the 1870's. In order to do this, he has had the assistance of BIA lawyers who have forged signatures of Di'neh elders (most of whom do not read, write or speak English) on documents supposedly giving permission for their lands and their civil rights to be given away. John McCain has also used the divisive tactic of claiming that the Hopi Tribal Council is empowered to make decisions for the Di'neh (they do not as they are a different tribe).

The United Nations Commission on Human Rights has investigated this situation, found that the US is violating Article 10 of The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: Indigenous peoples shall not be forcibly be removed from their lands or territories. No relocation shall take place without the free and informed consent of the indigenous peoples concerned and after agreement on just and fair compensation and, where possible, with the option of return.

The Commission also pointed the finger of responsibility squarely at John McCain, after investigating the responsibility of many other politicians, including Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and others. When the Commission's final report was issued in 1999, over 200 NGO's joined with the UN in condemnation of the United States over their treatment of the Di'neh.

The Navajo Reservation has been systematically reduced in size since it was first established. The government has pursued a policy of impounding and destroying the Di'neh cattle and sheep herds claiming "overgrazing". This claim is ludicrous in its face since the Di'neh people had been herding sheep on this land for hundreds of years and know very well how to manage their herds for optimum health since they view the sheep as a gift from Mother Earth and caring for the sheep is a form of worship and prayer. Their traditional sheep herds have been reduced about 90%.

Black Mesa, a Navajo religious site, has been completely demolished by Peabody Coal, in an act the Di'neh call "massive surgery to remove the liver of Mother Earth". The coal is washed through troughs to the generation plant over 200 miles away using precious water resources that are irreplaceable. The aquifer under the area is dropping by 4 feet per year. The electricity generated by this plant is used to "light the strip" in Las Vegas while the Di'neh live in shacks with no running water and no electricity. One of McCain's other bills passed through the Arizona State Legislature forbids the Di'neh to build any structures, meanwhile, the blasting at the mines has resulted in the collaps of many homes and ceremonial hogans.

Di'neh people are living right next to uranium mine tailings that are uncovered, and dust from the tailings pile blows everywhere. These tailings are some of the most toxic substances on the planet. A school is also located there and readings are at about 700 rad per minute within just a few feet of the school.

Another radioactive accident occured on lands that were formerly unoccupied - called the largest spill of its type in this country. One year later - this became a forced relocation site. Di'neh children now experience a rate of birth defects twice that of the general population. Within six years of the forced relocation, over 25% of the Di'neh people had died.

It seems that the rest of the world is well aware of our treatment of the "First Americans". But we are not. There has been a huge news blackout - thanks to John McCain and his wealthy cronies and their ownership and control of the news media. So we here in the US don't know what is going on in our name, inside our own borders. And if you don't feel bad for the people, this forced relocation has cost the taxpayers of this country over half a billion dollars. Some pork - all so McCain's cronies in Peabody Coal can rape the land. Land that belongs to the Di'neh.

For more information and video, Vanishing Prayer - Vanishing Prayer. After watching this video, it just made me cry to think about our injustice to fellow human beings on this planet - all in the acquisition of money.

Navajo Resist John McCain's SB 1003

Arizona Senator John McCain's senate bill SB1003 would end the relocation
process of the remaining Navajo from land on the Black Mesa Hopi/Navajo
Reservation. The bill passed the Senate unanimously last month and is under
consideration in the House Resources Committee. The Navajo faced with relocation
oppose the bill and say relocation would strip them of their indigenous way of
life. Since 1974 Over 15,000 Navajo and 100 Hopi have been displaced from their
ancestral homes in Arizona. Opponents say that the Navajo are being moved off
their land so coal companies can mine it. The Bureau of Indian Affairs
estimates that less than a few hundred Navajo remain on Black Mesa and John
McCain's Senate Bill 1003 would require their imminent removal by 2008. But the
remaining Navajo REFUSE TO BE MOVED.

"John McCain's Trail of Tears "

http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/4/29/125350/785

"John McCain's Trail of Tears
by pinche tejano, Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 12:53:50 PM EST

While most pundits, and wanna-be pundits, keep acting like paparazzis in this era of TMZ politics over none issues, the big stories are going under the rug never to see the sun. One such issue is that of Big Mountain, where over 10,000 Navajos are facing a modern day Trail of Tears. This forced-relocation is the work of a horrific "Indian Agent", one John McCain.

Senator McCain introduced and amended legislation (S1973-1 and S.1003) which he claimed were justified by what has turned out to be a non-existent range war between the Dineh (mainly consisting of grandfathers and grandmothers in their 70's living on farmlands that had belonged to their tribe since 1500 AD) and the Hopi (the 3-5 individuals rapidly assembled to assist Peabody Western Group by Senator McCain, Congressman Owens and John Boyden).

Subsequently, as the Dineh were removed from their farms by the "Relocation Commission" authorized by the US Senate at the behest of the revisions to the Public Law 93-531 introduced as S.1973-1 (1996 Partition) and S.1003 (2001 and 2005 accelerated removal of the Dineh by amendment) by Senator McCain, expanded Coal Mining Rights to their lands were granted to Peabody Western who with Bechtel Corp, have been mining the lands formerly occupied by the Dineh, and piping the coal to the Mohave Generating Station in Nevada, which serves the Las Vegas and Reno areas power needs.

Even the UN is applauded:
http://www.un.org/esa/sustdev/mgroups/wedo.htm#dineh

The Dineh (otherwise known as Navajo) were stripped of all land title and forced to relocate. Their land was turned over to the coal companies without making any provisions to protect the burial or sacred sites that would be destroyed by the mines. People whose lives were based in their deep spiritual and life-giving relationship with the land were relocated into cities, often without compensation, forbidden to return to the land that their families had occupied for generations. People became homeless with significant increases in alcoholism, suicide, family break up, emotional abuse and death.

The current laws deny the Dineh families who remain on their land a fundamental constitutional right enjoyed by other citizens of the U.S. They are not allowed to vote or in any way to participate in the government which controls their lives. They are not allowed to participate in the legal system other than as defendants. They have no right to appeal any police or government action. Mining company security personnel, harass and intimidate elders, threatening them with imprisonment if they try to protect their homes, property and burial sites from Peabody Coal's bulldozers. They can be arbitrarily thrown in jail for resisting actions by the mining company. People and their livestock are given trespass notices. Ceremonial hogans, houses, sacred sites and graveyards are bulldozed. Armed rangers visit elders at their homes and threaten and harass them and confiscate their livestock at the government's discretion. They are denied access to water, their water wells are fenced, capped off and dismantled.

In 1996, Congress passed a law endorsing a 75-year lease arrangement that would allow a few of the families to remain as tenants on the land. The law sanctions the relocation of families not eligible for these leases and forces the families who sign the leases to live without benefit of civil and religious rights exercised by other Americans. In April 1997, when all efforts to obtain justice in the U.S. judicial system failed, and in order to get the relocation laws repealed, the Dineh filed a formal request for the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to conduct an investigation of human rights violations against them by the U.S. government. Several visits to New York by Dineh helped create an Inter-faith coalition of faith-based Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). A delegation of NGOs traveled to Black Mesa to witness the historic meeting between the traditional Dineh and Hopi people and Mr. Abdelfattah Amor, Special Rapporteur on Religious Intolerance of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. Mr. Amor traveled to Black Mesa in early February 1998 to investigate charges of human rights violations by the U.S. government. This is the first time the U.S. is being formally investigated by the United Nations for violations of the right to freedom of religion or belief. It is the hope of the Dineh people that the UN will cite the U.S. for violations of International Human Rights law.

"The forcible relocation of over 10,000 Navajo people is a tragedy of genocide and injustice that will be a blot on the conscience of this country for many generations."

Leon Berger, Executive Director, Navajo-Hopi Indian Relocation Commission upon resignation.

Senator McCain, as author and as chair of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, created the final agreement and amended 1974 Act as captained through the Senate in 1996. Senator McCain proposed a land partitioning scheme which led to the construction of a fence along the Dineh Range blocking their ability to field range their cattle (PL S.1973-1 1996 Dineh Proposal for Land Partitioning), eventually leading to seizure of their cattle for bridging the fence, and capping of their wells, which water was then sequestered for use by Peabody Western Group.

http://www.colorado.edu/StudentGroups/tsc/deep.html

A Millenia of Co-Existence
The Dineh (Navajo) and Hopi have been the inhabitants of the Four Corners region since time immemorial. The Hopi way of life - living in pueblos atop the mesas and farming the arid land - was harmonious with the rhythms of the desert. Beyond the Hopi mesas Dineh sheepherders moved with the seasons between summer and winter settlements, living in accordance with ancient traditions. The Dineh and Hopi regularly interacted, exchanging food, weavings, pottery, and silver jewelry. Intermarriage between the peoples was not uncommon, allowing centuries of cultural exchange. These people describe their relationship as being based on a "covenant of neighborship" established in the ancient past with the exchange of sacred objects and renewed in the last century as well as recently in the early 1990's.

Public Law 93-531
Black Mesa stands on the northern end of the 1882 Executive Order area. Hopi prophecy foretold that one day outsiders would want to devastate it, and that if they were successful it would be the beginning of the end of the world. With the discovery of extremely rich coal fields in this area, Peabody Coal Company's public relations and lobbying firms created a "Hopi-Navajo land dispute", portraying the two peoples who had peacefully co-existed for hundreds of years as being embattled in a bloody "range war". One of the key figures in the fueling the dispute was a lawyer named John Boyden. Boyden's two main clients were the Hopi Tribal Council, which wanted to lease out the coal rich land, and Peabody Coal Company, whose interests are quite obvious. In 1974, despite the protests of traditional Hopi and Dineh peoples and in light of an expose by the Washington Post of the conflict as fictional, the Relocation Act (P.L. 93-531) was pushed through Congress. The main lobbyist, Harrison Loesh, a Department of the Interior employee, became Vice-President of Peabody Coal Company immediately followwing the signing of P.L.93-531.

Supposedly in the name of conflict resolution, the law mandated that the Joint Use Area be partitioned into exclusively Hopi and "Navajo" sides. More than 10,000 Navajo and 100 Hopi found themselves on the wrong side of a fence.

Low Intensity Warfare
Those resisting the government relocation have been subject to livestock reduction to levels below sustenance, as well as bans on wood gathering, home repair, and new construction. Wells and springs have been destroyed, forcing people to haul water on unimproved dirt roads. Religious ceremonies have been disrupted by F-16 fighter jet flyovers "so low that you could see their helmets". Other means of intimidation include 24 hour surveillance by government agents.

In order to transport coal cheaply, Peabody Coal Company uses the only illegal slurry line in the U.S. The slurry line pumps over one billion gallons of water each year from the aquifer which once fed the springs of Black Mesa. People can no longer water their crops and livestock.

In effect, P.L. 93-531 is a declaration of war on the people of Black Mesa, who have now lived under a state of siege for twenty-one years. P.L. 93-531 must be repealed.

So please, carry on with Reverend Wright this, Hillary's broke that, it's just another sad chapter in American history that is happening before our eyes. All so Senator John McCain could placate big donors in his home state.

I mean, it's just over 2000 historical and religious sites destroyed by Peabody, so McCain could get a campaign contribution.

It's just a forced relocation of a people, so a faceless corporation can garnish profit to fill McCain's coffers.

It's just an unspoken war against the first Americans that has lead to the death of 25% of their population, so McCain's political career could live another cycle.

It's just the enslavement of a people into abject poverty and disenfranchisement of their civil rights so McCain is free and entitled to keep his position of power.

It's just the death of Lahe'ena'e Gay, Terence Unity Freitas and Ingrid Washinawatok, who lost their lives in non-violent protests so McCain's political ambitions could live on.

And everytime you turn a blind eye to this issue of basic human dignity, you are supporting John McCain's Trail of Tears."

"John McCain’s genocide– The Butcher of Black Mesa"

http://thegenocideblog.wordpress.com/2008/04/02/john-mccains-genocide-th...

"John McCain’s genocide– The Butcher of Black Mesa
April 2, 2008
I’m not sure why there are so many connections between John McCain’s name and the term genocide out there but I’m starting to find it a little bit worrisome…..

John McCain may be partially response for the systematic removal or mistreatment of the Di’neah in Arizona. He has been pivotal in legislation which forcibly relocated thousands from their homelands to radioactive grounds, forged signatures of tribal elder, impounded their cattle and sheep, demolished their spiritual lands and placed the Hopi (an unrelated native group) Tribal Council in charge of their care.

After extensive investigation, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights found that the US is violating Article 10 of The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: Indigenous peoples shall not be forcibly be removed from their lands or territories. No relocation shall take place without the free and informed consent of the indigenous peoples concerned and after agreement on just and fair compensation and, where possible, with the option of return.

I’m not sure if the intent is their systematic extermination and thereby genocide (I’d argue no) or rather to increase the proceeds of Peabody Western Coal but it is interesting that his involvement in this has been so carefully suppressed in the United States. It’s also amusing that they call him the Butcher of Black Mesa– what a catchy musical comedy song title.

Senator John McCain has a very severe skeleton in his closet.

"From: Cafe, Election Central, Muckraker
Senator John McCain has a very severe skeleton in his closet.

By - February 9, 2008, 2:05AM
McCain was the architect of laws that violated the human and civil rights of the Dineh-Navajo in Arizona. The activities were condemned by the UN Human Rights Commission. This is a skeleton in his closet which, if it ever sees the light of day, could result in jeopardizing his run for the White House.

Click Here and read this article about McCain.
Read the Press Release attached to the article.

Then read the website that containes hundreds of pieces of evidence and supporting stories (You can click here to go directly to "Cain 2008: Am I my brother's keeper?")

What's amazing to me is that he's gotten away with it thus far, misleading the public that he's supportive of the American Indians. Ironically, he was instrumental in organizing a phony tribal counsel which gave rise to false claims contesting the right of Dineh-Navajo to occupy lands they'd farmed for 500 years, which phony counsel of fake "Hopi" have been testifying year after year before the Senate as McCain authored bills to dispossess the Dineh-Navajo, without any testimony allowed by the actual owners of the farmlands. Just happens their lands are atop the largest Coal deposits in Arizona.

Sadly, thousands of the Dineh-Navajo have died just being relocated, and many have been forced to live on a Nuclear Waste superfund site, as a result of McCain's conspiracy with the Coal and Power companies (Peabody Group and Bechtel/Mohave).

He's really destroyed a 500 year old Navajo culture. Ironically, Common Cause states his presidential runs are being funded by street names in Nevada where the coal is piped, and originates with Peabody, Bechtel and the Las Vegas Casino Gaming industry). His wife has been accused of garnering huge beer contracts down there in accompaniment. Meanwhile, McCain never ceases to pat himself on the back for "all my great achievements for the indians', which largely have resulted in their deaths, dispossession from their lands, relocation onto nuclear waste, and now he's working on legislation to close down all the Indian Casinos around the country.

Anyone think he's working for the Casino Industry in Nevada?"
