Scalia: Torture Is Not Unconstitutional

Torture is not unconstitutional? Torture is not cruel and unusual punishment? When you torture someone you are not punishing them? He doesn't interpret law; he makes up law.

Right wingers own our government and the Democratic Party is no better. Senate Democrats voted 100% to confirm this imbecile.

What idiotic arrogance by a defender of the regime. Besides, Uncle Dick told Scalia that he'd shoot him in the face if he didn't play along and do what he was told. Scalia's interview with Diane Stahl was breathtaking in his unabashed usage of neo-con rhetoric. On Bush-Gore, he trivializes the import of the court's decision, brushing it off with: "Get Over It!"

I argue conspiracy is the only explanation for this interpretation of the Constitution. ( A conspiracy to undermine the intent of the constitution.)

The constitution does not apply to national security issues at all, only criminal cases, is what they are trying to argue.

The national security black hole is something there has been a conspiracy to develop for years. At first national security status was used only as necessary, but expanded to form a cloak so no one could prove the government was lying, even if the evidence made it reasonably obvious.

So now we have a Supreme Court that will not become “mullahs” by asserting themselves at all over the national security apparatus or over the military or the executive branch.

I am not sure if torture vs. cruel and unusual punishment is a semantic difference as some bloggers suggest. But in the US treaty's have coequal status with the Constitution. And the US is a cosigner on Geneva, which does prohibit torture.

So Scalia needs to be told to go back under the rock he came out from under.

What in the h... do you expect Scalia to do and say!!! Bush and Cheney put him on the Supreme court to do their will and this will happen come h... or high water.
Our democratic leaders has shown that they are leading our party down the wrong path.
They notice that the corporations were given the republicans hugh sums of money for they campaign and other benefits so a lot have jumped on the bandwagon.
We need to vote the democrats out of officen and no longer fund or support them.
They have become arrogant as h... and have even stated that we the little people don't understand the policy and they do.
We have been sold out and we have to do more then talk about it in order to take our country back from global corporations and the elite.
They are turning our economy into a mess so we will have to depend on them to throw us bones if we wish to survive.

When a sitting United States Supreme Court justice is telling us to "get over" the 2000 SElection, can it be any more obvious that he is front and center in the scam?

He said it was Gore who wanted the Florida mess to be decided by the courts. So it gets to his court, and what do they do? Do they order an unbiased solution that would decide once and for all who really won the election (like a statewide hand recount)?

No. That would have meant they were actually interested in the truth.

They simply said "stop the recounts," in the counties that were doing them, completing the coup that trashed the will of not just the the people of Florida, but the entire country.

After he helped appoint Bushco to the White house, he refused to recuse himself from the case that was eventually decided in favor of his duck hunting buddy Dick Cheney, that kept details of Cheney's energy policy meetings secret.

Now he's saying torture is not unconstitutional. But any grade school kid could read the 8th Amendment and tell you he's lying.

There is apparently no limit to the depth of Antonin Scalia's betrayal of the Constitution and the trust of the American people.

Let's impeach and arrest him too.

This so-called JUSTICE(?) of the Supreme Court of the United States shames the entire legal profession and all of modern legal tradition.

Scalia has no sense of fairness, justice nor compassion. He is a reactionary bully completely devoid of the ability to consider alternative views to his own narrow concepts of life.

He is an imperialist's imperialist. The call for his impeachment is long overdue. The commenter who decried the democrats for approving him is to be commended for his candor and accuracy. the democrats have this asshole's excrement all over themselves. Same goes for the CJ Roberts!

These neocon appointees should all be rounded up western style and hurled into a secure place where they can be monitored closely to assure they do no further damage to the nation.
