Positively Outrageous

This is the news on the very day that Jenna Bush is being married in what I am certain will be elegant style?!? There is no way even the most loyal "Bushie" can say they support the troops now. Is there no end to the ways the Bush DOD cannot manage to use and abuse the troops they want US to support? As if they have not managed to take terrible advantage of these young men and women while they were alive, here's an innovative approach to abusing and disrespecting them after death. And you can be sure that this story would not have emerged but for a fellow officer trying to honor a fallen brother officer. I feel ill.

This headline is misleading

There is no evidence that any of the soldiers were cremated in an oven that was also used to cremate pets...there are two human crematories and one pet crematory at that facility. To publish a headline that they're using the "same oven" is misleading. If you don't have evidence of that, don't word it as if you do. Don't stoop to the level of the Bush administration...spinning things to win points. Post headlines and facts that are accurate and I am behind you all the way. Start posting misleading and inaccurate crap in an attempt to sway opinions and I'll be just as disgusted with you as I am with them. Until it is proven that this facility used the same oven, I suggest you change the headline. At the point where it is proven, yes, I'll be just as outraged as anyone.

What About The Golden Rule?

You may want to log on to the Washington Post's web site and read the entire article by Ann Scott Tyson in today's edition. Then ask yourself this: What if you were to find that your own child was electrocuted in a KBR-built shower and his remains were forwarded to the Capitol Crematory And Friends Forever Pet Cremation Service? If that would not be an acceptable set of circumstances for your own child, then it is unacceptable for anyone's children, and we must end all of this madness as soon as possible.

Ephemera, Morrell was

Ephemera, Morrell was engaging in blatant double-speak here. He was covering the administration's ass by claiming that "we have absolutely no evidence whatsoever at this point that any human remains were ever mistreated," and saying repeatedly that whatever it was that happened, and he doesn't really know what happened mind you, it was "permissible under the regulations." Yet he issues an apology coming from Sec. Gates (not from him or either of the military spokesmen present at the briefing): "The families of the fallen have the secretary's deepest apologies."

This is damage control at its worst.

This is extraordinarily reminiscent of the response of the Pentagon and State Dept. to the Nisour Square massacre.

This occupation has been going on for over five years now. We have charged, not spent, charged over $3 trillion in debt, debt which has gone straight into the pockets of the war profiteering industry which now includes the privately contracted funeral industry which is apparently cost-cutting by contracting out to incinerators that handle pet remains, with IOU's being held by banks in China, Saudi Arabia, and elsewhere.

This is outrageous. This "incident" should not be looked as being in isolation, which is how the Bush administration would love for us little people to see it. Consider this "incident" in the context of the whole rotten scenario.

Screw you and your disingenuous "hero" rhetoric, Mr. Morrel

It's easy for the warmongers to show "respect" for our soldiers after they're dead. But if they had an ounce of respect for them while they were still alive, there would be no need to worry about where to cremate them, because they would not have been ordered to serve as cannon fodder in George's bullshit war in the first place.

Total Respect

I have lived in Dover DE for almost 35 years and have dealt with the DAFB and Torbert Funeral Homes on many occasions and can assure you that they treat our soldiers with the utter most respect and professional manner. The crematorium has 3 separate burners and are clearly marked, also the pet unit is much smaller so humans could not be confused and placed in the same area. I can assure you this is the case in almost every crematoriums in the country. I have not seen the full Washington Post article so I am not sure what the family may have seen or was told but I can vouch for these people. If the government were doing something wrong I would be the first to say something but this whole story seems to be misleading.

Is that Dana Perino's voice

Is that Dana Perino's voice asking, "What's insensitive about that? What's the problem there?"

Ms. Perino?

Probably not. Isn't her tone normally far more self-righteous than that?

Are they serious?

When I go please be sure to put me in with the pets. I don't want to be cremated with animals who have no respect for the lives of other creatures on this planet.
