Dear Colleague,
During the Fourth of July holiday a WWII veteran stood ram-rod straight in his crisp dress uniform and saluted our flag as it passed in a parade. His silent reverential stance was a powerful reminder of the love of country that is reflected in our veterans of all generations and all services.
It is also a powerful reminder of the responsibilities of the President of the Untied States in his capacity as Commander in Chief.
It is worse than heartbreaking that George W. Bush, as Commander in Chief, caused this country to go to war based on information which was false, and which he knew to be false. The consequences for our troops have been devastating. We have lost 4,116 of our beloved servicemen and women since the war began, with over 30,000 physically wounded and countless others emotionally wounded. The toll on the service persons and their families will be felt throughout their lives.
There can be no greater responsibility of a Commander in Chief than to command based on facts on the ground, and to command in fact and in truth. There can be no greater offense of a Commander in Chief than to misrepresent a cause of war and to send our brave men and women into harm’s way based on those misrepresentations.
There has been a breach of faith between the Commander in Chief and the troops. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or with Al Qaeda’s role in 9/11. Iraq had neither the intention nor the capability of attacking the United States. Iraq did not have weapons of Mass of Destruction. Yet George W. Bush took our troops to war under all of these false assumptions. Given the profound and irreversible consequences to our troops, if his decision was the result of a mistake, he must be impeached. Since his decision was based on lies, impeachment as a remedy falls short, but represents at least some effort on our part to demonstrate our concern about the sacrifices our troops have made.
This Thursday evening I will bring a privileged resolution to the House with a single Article of Impeachment of President Bush for taking our nation and our troops to war based on lies. We owe it to our troops who even at this hour stand as sentinels of America because they love this country and will give their lives for it. What are we willing to do to match their valor and the valor of their successors? Are we at least willing to defend the Constitution from the comfort and security of our Washington, DC offices?

If some people think the impeachment process is too complicated to come to their own conclusions, give 'em one that is pretty straight forward. Simplifying for those who haven't written, called, etc. is not a bad idea at all. They only have to get the ball rolling until that thing that chased Indiana Jones down the tunnel appears.

May I speculate on a possible answer for you?
1. Offering a single impeachment article is not "doing the same thing ..." as offering 35 articles.
2. The single article will be a whole lot easier for House Members to read, to comprehend, and to take a reasoned position on than 35 articles at a time.
3. Recent findings by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence provide substantial evidence in support of the charge that Bush lied us into war.
4. He is calling upon the 50 state attorneys general, and 950 county district attorneys, to bring the charges in state courts, under state laws prohibiting murder. He offers to assist in any way a prosecutor may want him to.

Answer: State attorneys general, and county district attorneys, are paid salaries out of tax revenues. A prosecution for first-degree murder is not some sort of privately financed litigation.

Answer: As implied in the answers to your questions #1 and #2, Mr. Bugliosi -- after meticulous research -- has established jurisdiction for Bush&Co to be tried by the Attorney General of any state, or the District Attorney of any county, that was the home of an American soldier before he or she was killed in Iraq.

As I understand it, Dennis' strategy is to keep introducing new articles of impeachment on a monthly basis to keep the issue alive and to try to build momentum. He has earned our trust, he is offering his leadership around a strategy for resisting the overthrow of our democratic institutions and the slide toward global war, and he needs our support as we need his leadership. The media can be counted on to continue to work to keep him marginalized by giving him the silent treatment, so it is up to us to amplify his voice.
I propose we each call our representatives and ask them to speak for and support his bill.

Rep Dennis Kucinich, America's most courageous congressman, has presented 3 Articles of Impeachment regarding 9/11 charging George W. Bush with ignoring the urgent warnings of an imminent attack against the nation, of impeding the 9/11 investigations, and failing to warn and protect the first responders and residents of New York City regarding the deadly toxic air hazards on and after 9/11.
BY conducting immediate impeachment hearings Congress would also be investigating the crimes of 9/11.

I do have to admit I am disappointed and saddened that Dennis will not address MIHOP when he has the rapt attention tomorrow of the world - minus, of course, the Pelosi/Conyers conspirators.

Better still, offer a $1,000 Wal-Mart gift card to the brave soul who gets RID of The Shrub already..... (this should draw a lot of disgruntled Republicans)

But I would advize her to immediatly put Impeachment up for discussion..

ABC News' Mary Bruce reports: Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., said this morning that the U.S. military is "flashing red" at Israel not to attack Iran.
"From the military commanders I've spoken to, the yellow lights are blinking very, very quickly," Reed said in an exclusive "This Week" interview with George Stephanopoulos. "In fact, I think, even, it might be a flashing red, because the consequences in the region would be significant, and they would be region-wide."
Pentagon officials are reportedly increasingly concerned that Israel could attack Iran's nuclear facilities this year.
In the same interview, Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., agreed with Reed, but to a lesser degree. "I think there's a caution light. Look, the good news is that the American and Israeli militaries -- intelligence community, government -- work very closely together," Lieberman said. But he also noted that the "clock is ticking" and that "right now ... we have to pick up the strength of our sanctions against them."
Reed joined Lieberman in calling for non-violent negotiations. "I think we have to seize the time. As short as it might be, we have to seize the time for a diplomatic approach, sincerely." Both senators serve together on the Armed Services Committee.
Reed and Lieberman also debated presidential politics and whether Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has shifted his policy on Iraq. "There's been a significant change in Barack Obama's position on Iraq in the last week," Lieberman said. Obama said earlier in the week that he would be open to "refining" his policy, but later asserted he was not referring to his 16-month timeline for withdrawal.
Reed, however, strongly disagreed with Lieberman. "Sen. Obama is outlining a strategy to redeploy our forces out of Iraq. Sen. McCain has a strategy of staying there indefinitely. That is the key, significant strategic difference.”
Lieberman went on to say that Obama's policy on Iraq was falling in line with Sen. John McCain's, R-Ariz., war strategy. "Look, for a long time, Sen. Obama said, 'let's get those troops out as quickly as we can, regardless of what's happening on the ground.' Sen. Obama, I think, here on Iraq, is trying to deal with what the former vice president might call an inconvenient truth, which is that, on Iraq, John McCain has been right and consistent, and Sen. Obama has been wrong.”
