Victory for Developing Nations! WTO Talks Collapse

Developing nations stood up to the U.S. and E.U. in this week's WTO Doha Negotiations, refusing to sacrifice food security measures in the midst of the global spike in food prices. Around the world nations are questioning the development gains from trade liberalization.

"Given what's been on the table, no deal is better than a bad deal," says Global Exchange Board Member Deborah James - of the Center for Economic and Policy Research - who has been observing the talks in Geneva. "A Doha conclusion would have had major negative impacts for workers and farmers in developing countries."
