re: Jan. 20th: Day of Nat'l Impeachment
Hello My Fellow Patriots:
This is an open letter to every one of you who has helped to support this Web site and others like it, long calling for the impeachment of George W. Bush & Richard Cheney.
Over the years, I've shared your well-founded outrage and collective horror at how this administration has very nearly ruined our country, bankrupted our values and trashed our moral standing while trashing our Constitution, federal statutes, international laws and treaties in their foolish, ruthless zeal to enact a corrupt agenda without regard to all the mayhem, misery and unnecessary deaths the world over that they have so very willfully caused.
As if this unchecked behavior was not bad enough, I have been most shocked and disgusted by the complete moral depravity and likely legal complicity of elected Democrats in Congress who have blocked Reps. Conyer's committee hearings and Kucinich's articles of impeachment from progressing with the critical work they should years ago been allowed to advance.
There is no good excuse, not even the presidential candidacies of their fellow democrats, that justifies permitting a climate of insane, unaccountable and unjust policies to reign supreme while so deeply wounding our sacred and fragile democracy.
With the election of Sen. Barack Obama as president-elect, Speaker Pelosi still has no good arguments left not to take her heel off the neck of impeachment proceedings, other than, as Bruce Fines, and others have suggested, to further cover up her own complicity in the alleged crimes of the Bush/Cheney White House.
(Constitutionally, according to her oath, she never did)
We all understand that according to Speaker Pelosi and other members of Congress's oaths of office, not one member, Republican, Democrat or Independent, could rationally defend allowing the current administration’s crimes to our nation to persist, years on end, other than ignorance or a selfish disregard for our Founding Fathers Constitutional principles.
Because We the People should hold no more hope than before Sen. Obama's victory to expect anything will be done regarding the issue of impeachment, I am curious to know: How many of you would support a day of peaceful and symbolic impeachment on Jan. 20th?
How so, you ask?
Perhaps in the manner of a rolling blackout from coast-to-coast, starting at 9 am EST then 9 am MST and 9 am PST, etc., for one hour, all of us, in each respective time zone, do NOTHING on Jan. 20th but sit or lie down, sasen or Yoga-style if you wish, and do not drive our cars, consume anything, purchase anything and turn off all the power and electricity within the immediate control of our environments?
Would a collective effort like this, with the 75+ days we have to organize it, send an appropriate message to corporate America that never again will We the People accept such dangerous and unfit persons for elected office as they have sponsored in Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, and their many clones, without that choice costing them something of their bottom lines?
Perhaps it was Benjamin Franklin, but if not the sentiment still applies: “A patriot defends his country when it’s attacked, praises it when it’s right and rights it when it’s wrong.” For many of us, it feels as if a very big wrong is not being corrected. We should not let those in Congress who do not share our sense of patriotism discourage us from righting what is wrong.
Well, that's it. Thanks for reading. Please post your comments, critical or otherwise. I am most curious to know.

Over 4,100 American soldiers and over 1,000,000 Iraqis were killed in George W. Bush's war against Iraq on "false pretenses", his "BIG LIES", which are "unlawful deaths", each and every one, requiring that George W. Bush be "indicted" and "prosecuted" on "murder and conspiracy to commit murder" charges, as noted and documented by renowned prosecutor and best selling author Vincent Bugliosi in his stunning, best selling true crime book "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder", Vanguard Press.
THIS IS TO IMPLORE YOU to indict, prosecute, impeach, and charge George W. Bush with one or more of four charges: conspiracy to commit crimes alleged in other counts; crimes against peace; war crimes; or crimes against humanity.
SPECIFIC CHARGES include the murders of over 4,100 American soldiers and over 1,000,000 Iraqis, pursuing an aggressive war, the brutality of the occupation and detention centers, and the use of illegal weapons.

Maybe we need to charge and arrest the head of the DOJ?
Congress! Congress! Come In Congress!!
To Our [Alleged] Representatives In Congress.
The Declaration of Independence was public y/n?
A secret declaration is an oxymoron.
Libya, Syria. How does Congress justify this president's actions in those countries? The War on terror?
The principle of "warrantless" executive actions is clear in the 4th Amendment. "Particularly describing", is the requirement. It's very similar in concept to a "declaration" and so the character of this principle is recognizable and valid.
If that weren't enough, who has power to make rules regarding captures on land and sea, of presumably "stateless" terrorists and pirates? (Congress should know their own job description, should they not?)
If the objective in Libya and Syria was not to blow up children, what was it?
What's a war that is not a war? Another oxymoron. Maybe it's even worse.
I've been looking at the number of signing statements Bush has written and I actually read the last one. It was very interesting. The last line was as follows.
Apparently these are signing statements only Bush himself can interpret? How dangerous is your gamble, Congress? Traditions, upon traditions, until the plumbline points straight up?
In general, how valid are signing statements in light of the text of the Constitution?
Impeachment is off the table. Who in their right mind would ever agree to something like that?
W h a t _ h a v e _ y o u _ d o n e .
Congress is destroying this republic by its ignorance, arrogance, and failure to observe the supreme law of the land.
In the old days, they surely would have been lined up and shot. And so would CIA drug smugglers who ran dope behing Congress' backs to subvert Congressional powers in the 1980s. Who knows what business they're in today. Darkness rules the night, and apparently the minds of our Representatives as well.
My hope is that this group of Representatives live to regret their self-serving bi-partisan abandonment of this republic. Their struggles for power have left both parties powerless.
The economy we can recover from, but we came from forever and to forever we'll return if our Representatives don't start taking the Constitution seriously, literally, at it's word, as though it was a warning about what NOT to do!
Need To Fix a Fact?
You've come to the right place, stranger.

"Few will have the greatness to bend history; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation ... It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is thus shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." Senator Clinton renewed her call for an independent commission modeled after the September 11th Commission to investigate the failures by government that left thousands of Americans stranded in the Gulf Coast.
“In the four years between the two events, the Bush administration promised the American people that they were doing everything they could to plan, prepare and prevent another tragedy, be it a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other unexpected crisis. In the aftermath of Katrina where thousands were left behind, we now know that wasn’t the case," said Senator Reid

What Has Homeland Security Cost? An Assessment: 2001-2005

Bart Hobijn and Erick Sager
We estimate that homeland security spending climbed
from $56.0 billion in 2001 to $99.5 billion in 2005.As a frac-
tion of nominal GDP,these dollar amounts translate into a rise
from 0.55 percent in 2001 to 0.80 percent in 2005.Increases in
federal government spending account for $34.2 billion of the
$43.5 billion rise in spending, while the remaining $9.4 billion
is attributable to increases in private sector resources de-
voted to homeland security.
These numbers point to a relatively small increase in the
share of resources targeted to homeland security in the post
9/11 period. Given this modest increase—as well as the
robust economic performance of the U.S. economy since
2001—we conclude that the broader economic impact of
higher security spending has been very limited.

To put these figures in a historical context,we turn to esti-
mates from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that
shed light on homeland security spending in the years before
and after 2001.According to the GAO estimates reported in
Hobijn (2002),federal homeland security spending made up
about 0.1 percent of GDP in the 1996-2001 period. This share
increased to 0.35 percent in 2002 and has remained relatively
stable since.
Senators Collins and Lieberman have released a bipartisan, 737 page, report titled; “Hurricane Katrina: A Nation Still Unprepared.” The report, which was passed by the full Committee today, is the result of a seven-month investigation into the Hurricane Katrina disaster of 2005. At the heart of the report are 86 findings that focus on failures at all levels of government to plan, prepare and execute appropriate, timely, and effective mitigation and relief efforts for the Hurricane Katrina disaster;

This is from the Houston Chronicle:
It didn't take long for the finger-pointing to begin.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency came under fire Sunday as emergency workers were left undernourished and dozens of trucks of water and food had yet to be set up at distribution centers around Houston and surrounding communities.
And no sooner had the agency -- widely condemned for its glacial response to suffering after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 -- drawn sharp criticism as its leaders and spokesmen began to say it was someone else's fault.
Earlier in the day, a FEMA spokesman said delays in setting up staging points to hand out needed provisions had been caused by blocked roads.
By the evening, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said it was the fault of state officials who handed his department the "unexpected challenge" of having to prepare distribution points in addition to delivering supplies.
Taking sides
State officials said that was a local responsibility, which came as a surprise to Houston Mayor Bill White and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.
"If I could have known something 18 hours ago, we could have made plans to pick up something a lot quicker, that's a fact," White said.
But he added: "Whatever the little drama was is only a matter of hours, not days."
Emmett agreed, calling the flap "much ado about nothing." The state could not set up the centers because it was overwhelmed in other areas, he said.
Several local and federal elected officials from opposing parties had a different take.
"I disagree with the leadership of the state in not participating in the (point of distribution) program going on tonight," said state Sen. Mario Gallegos, D-Houston. "I saw it in lines today at Galena Park. People are frustrated, they're scared, they're upset."
U.S. Rep. Nick Lampson, D-Houston, said he was told before the storm by FEMA officials that there was food and water already staged at the Ellington Air National Guard base.
"Now it's on the way? That doesn't make any sense to me," he said. "I don't know what happened ... The storm's been over for 30 hours.
"I hope some heads will roll in this," he said later, adding that the efforts of local mayors, judges and emergency responders should be applauded.
U.S. Rep. John Culberson, R-Houston, said he was "outraged" at the agency because first responders at two staging areas are without food and water.

Complicit Attorney General in War Crimes
Eric Schwing
Just made my phonecall. A woman who works for Mukasey sounded like so many people, part of a hierarchy where the corporate boss holds power over people. I reminded her that everyone must stand up against these war criminals and that the attorney general was complicit in the coverup, and refusal to hold them accountable.
I gave the name of the organization who were demanding the prosecution and that I was for it.
I reminded her of the NUREMBURG trial and those that are complicit in the crimes of war criminals can just as easily be tried for these war crimes.
Then I Signed the petition
will be replaced
Even if we bring these criminals to justice, they will only be replaced by leaders from a different realm of the corporate world. Hate the game, not the player.
Are you kidding me? Indict
Are you kidding me? Indict Bush!?! Get a job or a life or a hobby. I do not agree with everything Bush has done but I do know that he is not the singlehanded culprit in any of the events for which you are calling for his impeachment. Regarding Katrina...I live in a hurricane area. If idiots who lived in a below sea level town chose to stay with a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane bearing down on them, what did they expect? What about responsibility of the state of Louisianna?! Sompe personal accountability here please! As for the war, it was supported by many Democrats including Kerry. They all had the same info. Do you really believe Bush and a handful of staff could dupe the entire Congress and world? Please! Even if all the pre-war intelligence was flawed how do you figure that someone you call dumb and stupid had the ability to trick the country and the world? What are you saying about the mental capactiy of the rest of our national and world leaders. You only undermine yourself and show paranoia if you really give George Bush and his cabinet alone all the credit for all this countries woes. And by the way, I did not agree with the bailouts or proposed bailouts either, but Pelosi and the Democrats and McCain and Republicans said we had to do it. It was Clinton's admin that got the ball rolling on the loans to the unqualified! Now Britains PM is taling about world loans. There is so much at play in this world that to place it all on one leader's shoulders is naive and ridiculous. There is plenty of blame to go around both parties and the world. Try becoming part of the solution! A one world government and monetary system is not far off! I believe Obama will be a part of this! What about our Constitution then? It is in grave danger from the upcoming administration, do not be fooled!
