Corporate Interests Dominate Congress
The Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, are dedicated to promoting their corporate interests, and the insurance companies are opposed to universal health insurance for all Americans, so Congress will hem and haw and run out the clock in Congress, take their August break, come back in September and announce their is no money for health care reform this year. Next year 2010, will be more of the same excuses. However, Congress stands ready to appropriate quickly any and all new emergency war supplementals off the budget that may be needed for their corporate friends in the defense industry. It's just that corporate interests come first in Congress and the pressing needs of the American people are just an excuse for Congress to look busy on their day jobs.
I don't understand why you pay the insurance companies?
Forgive me I'm not American so I am not completely in the picture, if everyone stopped supporting the insurance industry they would have to shut down! Doctors would be up in arms because they would not receive their money. Every person in the States would then have the ammunition to dictate terms. Everyone stop supporting the corrupt system and it will fall. If everyone does it, they would lose their power. Every citizen has his or her own power, just stop supporting them.

Good idea, but....
Trying to get people in the U.S. to stand together for ANYTHING would be like trying to herd turtles. I believe an income tax boycott would start in motion a major upheaval in spending priorities PLUS stop the support of murderous, illegal occupations. BUT...I'm called "un-patriotic" and assaulted for daring to suggest something that WOULD WORK!

You make a good point
I think people would do well to consider for themselves their care and feeding. Some doctors can be bought and sold just like other people. For example the drug business -- only a fool would give young people an anti-depressant(?) drug that makes them suicidal, and to add insult to injury -- charge big bucks for it.
The drug "industry" is a super duper ripoff.
Choose your doctor(s) carefully and then decide for yourself what you are going to do with your body. Remember if you buy it you support it.
