Progressive Marcy Winograd Challenging Jane Harman for CA Congressional Seat

Dear Friends,

First, I'm Marcy Winograd, and I would like to thank you for your past support. We are building momentum for the June primary, and every bit counts.

We stand at the crossroads of economic challenge and national rebirth, of oil dependence and clean energy and green jobs. A choice between a weak band-aid or true healthcare reform.

To get real change - we must take clear, consistent positions.

That's why I am running to replace a Blue Dog corporate Democrat in the June 8, 2010 Democratic Party primary.

My challenge to Jane Harman will prove critical to the progressive movement. Enough of trillion-dollar wars and bank bail-outs that rob our country of money needed for health care, education, and environmental protection. My victory over a staunch defender of the Bush administration's foreign policy and constitutional crimes will empower progressive Democrats across the country to end the war and occupation of Afghanistan and fight for the right of states to enact single-payer universal health care.

While my opponent was voting for the Iraq invasion, the Afghanistan escalation, the bankruptcy bill, an unfair trade agreement that contributes to global warming, and drug company monopolies that harm breast cancer patients, I was fighting for you -- putting the Democratic Party on record to bring our troops home, ban offshore oil drilling, safeguard the world's forests, and provide health care for all.

We can build on an aggressive grassroots campaign to take back our country from Wall Street and war profiteers. Together, we did it with Donna Edwards and Al Franken. We're doing it with Alan Grayson.

We need to do it again in CA-36.

June is going to come quickly. We need to ramp up - everything from phone banks to mailers to Google ads. We can win - but it will not be easy. My opponent is one of the richest members of Congress, and she's got a lot of powerful friends.

But so do we.
