Ray McGovern Is Going to Rumsfeld's House
By David Swanson
Ray McGovern wasn't aiming to make Donald Rumsfeld stutter and stammer like a kid caught cheating on a test when he asked him last week why he'd lied us into a war. That was just a side benefit. Ray wants answers, and he's taking his demand to Donald Rumsfeld's house in Washington, D.C.
On Thursday, May 18, a large coalition of groups is planning to deliver to the White House all the signatures and comments posted on a petition at www.DontAttackIran.org As the name of the site suggests, the petition simply asks the President and Vice President not to launch another aggressive attack on foreign soil – an attack that would necessarily be promoted with lies, lies that are already being spread by the Bush administration.
Numerous peace groups that have promoted the petition will join together with a "Pray-In" in Lafayette Square Park, in front of the White House, an event being held by the Network of Spiritual Progressives. Remarks made by various leaders between 1 and 3 p.m., possibly including Members of Congress, will focus on a positive vision of how our nation might promote peace and justice rather than the destruction and suffering our policies currently generate.
Toward the end of the event, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Cindy Sheehan will lead us in delivering the petition and signatures and comments to the White House. And at 3 p.m. we will head off on a march to Donald Rumsfeld's house, with Ray McGovern leading the way.
Our demand to Rumsfeld: Why did you lie?
This is where the focus on Rumsfeld should be. He must be driven out of office, but not because he's an unpleasant micromanager, not because he didn't use enough young Americans to kill more Iraqis faster.
No, he needs to go for the same reasons Bush and Cheney need to go: he helped to launch an illegal war based on lies, has committed a wide variety of war crimes during the war, and has sanctioned detentions without charge and torture.
Here are some of Rumsfeld's most memorable statements for which he must answer. (These are taken from "Oil, Power, and Empire" by Larry Everest. http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/bodyguard )
"Of course, this conjures up Winston Churchill's famous phrase when he said—don't quote me on this, okay? I don't want to be quoted on this, so don't quote me. He said 'sometimes the truth is so precious it must be accompanied by a bodyguard of lies.'"
—Donald Rumsfeld, US Department of Defense Briefing, September 25, 2001
The New York Times, on September 27, 2002, wrote:
"Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said today that American intelligence had 'bulletproof' evidence of links between Al Qaeda and the government of President Saddam Hussein of Iraq. Mr. Rumsfeld said that recently declassified intelligence reports about suspected ties between Al Qaeda and the Iraqi government, including the presence of senior members of Al Qaeda in Baghdad in 'recent periods,' were 'factual' and 'exactly accurate.'
The Los Angeles Times, on April 20, 2003, wrote of Iraqi scientists' claims that there were no WMD to be found: "In fact the scientists' denials come despite the pressure that the U.S is putting on them. Rumsfeld announced that the US will pay a reward to anyone providing evidence of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and he has threatened Iraqi scientists that if they don't cooperate they would be taken to a detention facility for interrogation and ultimately could be charged with war crimes."
Congressman Henry Waxman has created a database of Bush Administration lies. It includes 52 misleading statements by Donald Rumsfeld, searchable by topic, and documented with both their source and an explanation of why they are misleading. Some highlights are below, and the database is here: http://democrats.reform.house.gov/IraqOnTheRecord/

"Now people are saying, "Well, why haven't we found anything?" And I would respond by saying, A, it's going take some time, and B, we have found things. The CIA very recently, I believe, issued a declassified document on their website, where someone can actually go and find photographs and data that discusses these mobile laboratories, which are precisely what Secretary Powell talked about to the United Nations."

We have people who are telling that they worked in these vehicles. And they look at panels and say, "That was my work station in that panel, and that's what it's for.""

SECRETARY RUMSFELD: They come in a variety of sizes and shapes and capabilities. They are perfectly capable of being equipped with spraying and aerosol-type capabilities. Today with global position systems, GPS, and the kinds of maps that one can buy readily, these types of things can be purchased and used and guided and directed with great precision and capable of dispensing those kinds of weapons. They do exist. We know that Iraq has a number of so-called UAVs, unmanned aerial vehicles, of different types, that they train with them and exercise them."

Is this what you call "dreaming"? Sounds like a gray, unimaginative nightmare to me:

If I may...
Mr. Rumsfeld is employed by what is supposed to be a democratic government.
If the people allow the lies and inconsistencies to stand unquestioned, democracy dies and the people reap the government they deserve, for failing to live up to the responsbility that comes with citizenship in a free country.

But is it a free coutry?
"Allow me to control the issue and the nation's money and I care not who makes its laws!" -- Amshell Rothschild.
I'm not sure that the old adage about people getting the government they deserve any longer applies in today's world. In fact, I'm not even sure that apparent forms of governance really matter much at all under the circumstances that now prevail.
It's like dealing with dandelions in your lawn. You can attack those brightly visible heads as vigorously and as often as you like, but the roots of the problem go much deeper.

Right now, no.
The point is that for the country to be free and governed truly democratically, the masses have to be willing to get off their asses and do something about it.

Declaration of Independence
It unequivically charges us to overturn the sort of government we face now.
We all need to recognize that we no longer have, and need to reestablish rule of law.
A good group to get us started would be U.S. military forces in Iraq:

Not a democratic nation?
We still have democratic power, even while they're constantly eroding it from beneath us like so much concrete foundation in the middle of a bombing raid on Fallujah. But let's not kid ourselves --- we still hold the reigns, at least for the time being, if we want to take hold of them and redirect this thing. Corrupt government and corrupt media are only part of the weak democracy equation. Lack of citizen action is the other part, and it's the part that could make the most difference if something were done about it.
CONGRESSIONAL COWARDS
We need to literally show up at each of these Congress persons offices in DROVES. And demand that they do the right thing. It it those Congressional Cowards who are nailing the coffins of our young Americans, they are the enablers of this Horrific War based on greed and lies. Isn't it a coincidence that Bush, Cheney and Rice are all former oil people? Think long and hard about that Fellow Americans. It is also ALL of our inertia that prolongs the suffering of those engaged in this illegitimate war.
How Many Makes A "Drove"?
Ok, but suppose I show up by myself here:
http://www.house.gov/ros-lehtinen/
And there's no "drove",as would figure to be the case. (I won't bother; if you think you can get through to her, go for it with my endorsement)
Haven't I done what I can with what I can control? And shouldn't that be the only matter of concern for me?
These are moral issues, therefore, they must be individual decisions.
It is futile and metaphysically impertinent to dwell on that which one cannot control.

"THE SHEEHAN OPTION"
U.S. "Democracy"? One Solution For Criminals Is Lynching!
The Los Angeles Times, on April 20, 2003, wrote of Iraqi scientists' ... he [Rumsfeld] has threatened Iraqi scientists that if they don't cooperate they would be taken to a detention facility for interrogation and ultimately could be charged with war crimes."
That is a terrifying threat comming from the master of terror himself, especially considering how our "Democracy" "works" now.
The Stated purpose of Perfecting The Union is To:
"... Establish Justice, Insure the Domestic Tranquility, And Secure the Blessings of Liberty, to ourselves and our Posterity ..."
Let's look at how we are doing at that and if that contract is being kept:
Speaking from my own personal experience, I have served Geoge W. Bush several thousand pages of legal papers on numerous occasions demanding that he perform his duty under the law as President of the United States to protect Civil Rights. Bush has been utterly derlict in his lawful duty in each of four separate instances, and has never once made any attempt to abide by the laws of the United States in performing his duties to protect Civil Rights.
Instead, "our" "courts" are now used as a weapon against us, and the equal protection of the law has been completely removed from the people inside of the United States: I can catagorically prove that.
I am an natural born Citizen of the U.S., and all of my Rights, Priveleges, and Liberties under the Constitution and laws of the United States have been unlawfully taken from me and from my family by the Criminals in the White House.
Right now, my biological son is unlawfully incarcerated, and Justice can not be obtained within the Jurisdiction of the United States:
To wit:
My son is accused of the "crime" of having an "illegal" drink of alcohol on August 6, 2000 and the "crime" of having a lawfully registered firearm in his posession, i.e. exercising his Second Amendment Right.
He was subjected to cruel and unusual punishments for over five years, without a trial or a conviction for having been accused of having a drink of alcohol before he was 21 years of age, and there never was any evidence that the allegation was true.
Indeed, the state still does not have a conviction.
The "courts" were converted into a weapon of the state, by the steadfast refusal to abide by the laws of the United States, and he was scheduled for 23 "mandatory" court appearances, in order to force capitulation and obtain a confession to the "crime".
Now, six years later, the "State" has incarcerated him for the third time for said charge, and are torturing him inside a State prison in order to obtain a confession that he had an "illegal" drink of alcohol on August 6, 2000.
So far, Bush and every court, including the United States Supreme Court has failed or refused to protect his Rights: the "Trial Court" the "Superior Court", "The Supreme Court For (in behalf of) The State Of Alaska, the Federal District Court, District of Alaska, and the United Staes Supreme Court have all refused of failed to make any attempt whatsoever to protect the Rights, Liberties, and Priveleges of the People.
After thousands and thousands of pages of litigation in six different "courts" we have seen no justice done and no attempt made to do justice, by any of them.
The "State" has refused 14 requests for a bail hearing now, Since May 12,2006, and "assigned" a public defender to the case; but the public defender has not seen or spoke to my son, and he has not returned any of his phone calls. My son was incarcerated on May 12th, 2006 after a diligent manhunt by Anchorage Police for the crimminal that had the "illegal" drink of alcohol on August 6, 2000, and had the odassity to exercise his second amendment Right. Bear in mind that this occured in Alaska in the spring, where there are lots of hungry bears.
When the cop that initiated the charge finally got to court, nine months later, my son had been to court over it six or seven times already.
The first sentence out of the cop's mouth was a perjury that was so blatent that the cop's own report of the incident proved he comitted perjury to obtain a conviction in the federal court. But even caught red handed committing a High Crime in the "court" not even a verbal repramand was ever issued any of the "courts". They encourage perjury in order to assure convictions.
It also came out before Mr. Wepolowski, May 1, 2001 in 3AN-S01-4800CR that the Achorage police were without the authority to issue state charges. The purported solution was to get ex-post-facto authorization retroactive to the date that my son was charged.
But that was never done... the prosecution just kept on rolling.
Then it came out that the statute under which my son had been charged had been struck as being unconstitutional in March of 1999, and was not even a valid statute at the time he was charged. But that didn't even slow them down either... the prosecution keept rolling. Six years latter, they are still at it. Rule 45 of Alaska Rules of Court says they have to dismiss it after 120 days, but who are you going to call? Ghost Busters? they just make up the rules as they go along... just like the U.S. Supreme Court of kangaroos, that stuffed our Election Fraud King, George W. Bush into the Office.
This is how it is inside the United States today.
We are being violated to this degree for nothing at all, without any evidence whatsoever, in "our" United States Courts.
Now with the Bush Cabal at the helm there is no need for any evidence, any trial, nor even formal charges: The Cabal simply declares you a terrorist, and arranges for your execution... no fuss no muss. They have the Patriot Act and the High Offices.
The use of firebombs puts the US in breach of the 1980 Convention on Certain Chemical Weapons (CCW) and is a violation the Geneva Protocol against the use of white phosphorous, "since its use causes indiscriminate and extreme injuries especially when deployed in an urban area."
"Indiscriminate and extreme injuries" are a vital part of the American terror-campaign in Iraq; a well-coordinated strategy designed to spawn panic through random acts of violence.
It's clear that the military never needed to use napalm in Iraq. Their conventional weaponry and laser-guided technology were already enough to run roughshod over the Iraqi army and seize Baghdad almost unobstructed. Napalm was introduced simply to terrorize the Iraqi people; to pacify through intimidation. Cheney, Rumsfeld and Negroponte are old-hands at terrorism, dating back to their counterinsurgency projects in Nicaragua and El Salvador under the Reagan Administration.
They know that the threat of immolation serves as a powerful deterrent and fits seamlessly into their overarching scheme of rule through fear. Terror and deception are the rotating parts of the same axis; the two imperatives of the Bush-Cheney foreign policy strategy.
So just what form of tyranny are we exporting, and just how did we attain the lawful justification to institute unprovoked attacks against other sovereign nations using WMDs to instutute the agenda of a foreign power and violate the mandates of our Constitution?
We used to solve these problems with an old Texas custom: Its called lynching!
