David Swanson is the author of the upcoming book "Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union" by Seven Stories Press and of the introduction to "The 35 Articles of Impeachment and the Case for Prosecuting George W. Bush" published by Feral House and available at Amazon.com. Swanson holds a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Virginia. He has worked as a newspaper reporter and as a communications director, with jobs including press secretary for Dennis Kucinich's 2004 presidential campaign, media coordinator for the International Labor Communications Association, and three years as communications coordinator for ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Lawrence R. Velvel is the Dean of the Massachusetts School of Law, which educates the working class, mid-life people, minorities and immigrants. He chairs the Robert Jackson Steering Committee which seeks the prosecution of Bush, Cheney, and other high officials for their crimes. He is the editor of a journal called The Long Term View, hosts an hour-long TV book show called Books of Our Time, which appears in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states on Comcast's CN8 and is streamed on the internet, and hosts a radio program called What The Media Doesn't Tell You. The radio program, which is carried on World Radio Network and is streamed on the internet, discusses important matters which the media doesn't disclose (or insufficiently discloses) and the reasons for the nondisclosure. Velvel wrote a 1970 book on the constitutionality of the Viet Nam War and civil disobedience, and a recent quartet called Thine Alabaster Cities Gleam, comprised of: Misfit In America; Trail of Tears; The Hopes and Fears of Future Years: Loss and Creation; and The Hopes and Fears of Future Years: Defeat and Victory. Carlos is a Gold Star father and Melida is Gold Star step-mother to Lcpl. Alexander Scott Arredondo, USMC, who died in Iraq in August 2004. Carlos has been presenting a mobile memorial to Alex throughout the US that includes a flag draped coffin and also sharing the story of the day that Alex was killed and led to him setting fire to a Marine van and himself. Melida has been focusing on understanding the connection between chronic bereavement, PTSD and physical health impacts with Gold Star families as well as the outcomes of military funding in relation to funding domestic programs.
