The Town Hall was stunning, people stood and told their representatives how they felt and thought concerning the occupation of Iraq. This will be a true testimony to our officials that; “We the People” have had enough!

These Town Halls were taking place all over America, tens of thousands of people held meetings to tell their reps to do something about this occupation and to stop the genocide of Iraq.

The call in show with Jim Lockhart was great, four citizens telling it like it is and none of the BS that you are used to hearing.

Thanks Joe and Jim, it is an honor to know both of you.

I called in at 0830, identified myself to Paul as Joe Walsh, candidate for the US House of Representatives. I wanted some time to talk about two stories that came out on Friday and Monday about the plight of our beloved veterans. These are two stories that must be taken up on your show, and Tom’s national show.

We will be hearing no news today because of the horse race taking place in Pennsylvania, and this story will be lost in the dog and pony shows.

I ask that you arrange a time for me to call in and speak to this issue. Blumenauer has free access to your station and I expect something close to a fair amount of time to respond to what is happening to our vets.

Open Letter to KPOJ PROGRESSIVE

RADIO STATION in Portland, Oregon.

Dear Paul, Tom and Carl,

This is a call out to send a message to the weak kneed Democrats who have watched this administration destroy everything we love about America.

I am running to replace Representative Earl Blumenauer in the 3rd District because he refuses to hold Cheney/Bush accountable in any meaningful way. This is not politics as usual. This is a cause that I have been fighting since the Supreme Court appointed these criminals to the White House in 2000.

As your representative in the House, I will always carry your message; this is what representative government is supposed to be like. Your voice must be heard, not mine.

Many of our politicians believe that they know more than any of you, that they know best and will explain it to you latter. Town Hall meeting should be about hearing what your concerns are and my response should be to carry that message to all of my colleagues in the House. Let the Senate be the place for millionaires, let the House be made up of working men and women who know their constituents.

Blumenauer’s Propaganda Piece of Junk!

I received this slick piece of mail and thought is was a campaign request for money, it was a “Special Medicare Alert” from the Earlman and we paid for the mailing. I will give it back on Thursday the 28th of February at high noon with the words,“No Accountability, No Support---Impeach!”

The Democratic Leadership Conference, (DLC) would be proud of this guy who claims to represent us, you must read this article to understand who this guy Earl Blumenauer really represents:

January 2, 2008 -- Today Steve launched a new feature on his campaign'’s website, urging his supporters to join the national petition to demand the House begin hearings on an impeachment resolution of Vice President Dick Cheney. Steve declared his support for impeachment investigations in September 2007, citing false statements leading up to the war and the warrantless wiretapping of American citizens in apparent contravention of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

I strongly urge We the People to read (on google, etc) the Iraq War Resolution
aka PL (Public Law) 107-243, Oct. 16, 2002. You'll find there is NO LEGAL Basis
now (if ever) for having troops in Iraq. Nor any mention of authority to occupy
or nation-build, etc. now. This, plus the new Congress, give us a solid basis to act.

Only Congress, per the Constitution, is authorized to declare and fund wars.

Olympia's Heat in the Street to Impeach Bush and Cheney

Olympia's Citizen's Movement to Impeach Bush/Cheney kicked off a heat in the street action on September 1st. A committed group of people held signs on Percival Landing for the first of many actions to put the issue out there.

The signs were met with a lot of support from people in the cars as well as the walkers. It was the first day of Harbor Days and there were more people than usual at that corner. Many stopped to talk and a number signed petitions.

Only one member of the Portland City Council, Sam Adams, offers constituents the opportunity to post pictures and local commentary on his office website. Where Bush's Arrogance Has Taken Us

3 weeks ago, the Portland City Council, at the behest of Mayor Potter, took a stance that the weekly "Communications" sessions allowing citizens 3 minutes to make a statement to City Council, should be restricted to once a month. Their reasoning is that too many individuals were making it a weekly thing, often speaking on matters that City Council had no jurisdiction over.

The DFA Impeachment group had spoken 5 times in a 3 month period, yet we were lumped together with people who had been presenting the same matter for months, if not longer. We had 5 different people present on different arguments for why City Council should adopt a Resolution of Impeachment. We had also followed up with each commissioner and the Mayor's office, which consisted of concise meetings where we explained the significance and need for local action on a national issue, and its feasibility using Jefferson's Manual.

This is a repost of an essay I wrote a few months ago (updated) on my effort to raise some political awareness/consciousness here in Portland, OR. My personal protest efforts led to my alliance with the Impeachment Movement here, and has enabled me to provide a street-level perspective in our meetings with local politicians to urge them to adopt a Resolution of Impeachment of Bush and Cheney.
